Elena’s POV.
I couldn’t stop chuckling as Killian carried me in his arms all the way from the clinic to the palace. The cuts on my thighs had healed up a great deal but he still insisted on carrying me.
I’m definitely certain he won’t let me walk with these legs for days.
Just as we entered the living room, Luna Drusilla peeped through the dining, with a warm smile on her face. “Lunch is served,”
“Mother, she needs to rest,” Killian replied.
“No, she needs to have a good meal before resting, do you think Graham had the decency to feed her? Do you feed someone you want to kill?” She snapped at him.
He nodded and faced me. “Which do you prefer?”
I didn’t have the opportunity to speak as my stomach already went ahead of me, letting out a loud rumbling sound. It had every reason to. What has kept me up through the horrible days with Graham was the heavy lunch I had right after I was abducted. And I have Luna Drusilla to thank for that. It was she who made me have a heavy meal during lunch.
One of the amazing qualities of Luna Drusilla is making sure everyone eats healthy and well, including the housekeepers. She never lets anyone miss a meal.
“Well, that says it all,” he chuckled heading towards the dining, dropping me carefully on a seat, and sat right beside me.
Luna Drusilla served the meal and we all dug in.
“Elena, I’m really glad you are okay and Graham didn’t succeed with his evil plan,” she spoke up as we ate.
“Thank you,” I flashed her a small smile.
“It’s so sad he had to end up this way, he was really a responsible man,” she muttered.
Of course he was, I just had to ruin everything with my return.
I was suddenly snapped out of my chain of thought as I caught sight of the maid that had served me the drugged glass of wine.
She was trying to hide away her face as she hastily spread out the wines and turned around to leave.
“You.” I called and she halted in her spot, turning back around to face me, she looked scared to the teeth, I watched as her chest thumped heavily in fright.
“Is there a problem?” Killian asked.
I chuckled slightly, staring intently at her frightened figure. “No,” I replied and a sigh of relief washed through her face.
“I’m impressed with how hardworking she has been, she always served me drinks without asking,” I smiled knowingly at her.
Killian turned towards her with a warm smile. “That’s quite impressive, keep up the good work,”
She nodded frantically and without waiting another second, ran out of the dining.
I really wanted to expose her and have Killian deal with her, but then again, there was something about the way she looked at me with so much remorse and pity that speaks differently about her actions.
I would have to speak with her before passing any judgment.
“Killian, now that everything is settled, you really have to look more into the affairs of the pack,” Luna Drusilla suddenly spoke up.
“Mother, the affairs of the pack are settled right in my palms,” Killian replied.
“Oh, it is? And yet you haven’t heard the rumors of the Alpha of Greenwoods pack being spotted hovering around the pack,”
The juice in my mouth spilled through my nose immediately Darius was mentioned. I tried to control myself to avoid appearing suspicious but I couldn’t, I was overcome with fright as I coughed furiously.
“Woah! Easy love,” Killian quickly ran to me, stroking my back soothingly. “Are you okay?” He asked.
“Yes… Uhm… I took a long gulp and it spilled to my nose,” I lied.
“Be more careful okay? That could be really dangerous,” Luna Drusilla spoke up.
I nodded as the cough subsided a little. Killian stood beside me all this while, stroking my back to reduce the pain.
I snapped my head up to stare at him, flashing him a small smile. “I’m okay now, don’t worry,”
“Are you sure?” He asked, gazing at me with the most tender and affectionate look.
Sometimes, I wonder why he cherishes me this much, it was the more reason I keep falling hard for him, despite the complications surrounding us.
He leaned forward to kiss my cheeks before taking his seat.
“Mother, the pack members are exaggerating, what would Darius be doing in my pack? He surely doesn’t have a death wish,” Killian replied.
My heart skipped a beat as he mentioned Darius yet again, I needed no soothsayer to tell me that a really heavy clash was brewing. Darius must certainly be on a hunting spree for him, especially after hearing of my disappearance. I really need to speak with him, maybe I could find another strategy to hold him down until I found a way to break the situation to Killian. It would be an entirely different case if Darius confronted him.
“I’m not saying it’s true, I just need you to be careful, and look closely into things,” Luna Drusilla blurted.
“Fine, I will.” He shrugged.
“You should, look how Elena was abducted right under your nose,” she added.
“Fine Mother, I I’ve heard you,” Killian snapped and she bursted into laughter.
“The truth sure hurts,” she continued teasing.
After a short while, we were done eating and I made to stand up.
“Uh.. What are you doing?” He rushed towards me.
“I want to head back to my room?” I pouted my lips dramatically as if asking for his permission.
“C’mon then,” he stood up, walking over to me, and scooped me off the chair into his arms. “You are not allowed to walk with these legs until the cuts are perfectly healed,” he leaned down and kissed my lips.
“Oh please, you both need to get the hell away from here,” Luna Drusilla blurted out.
“Jealousy,” Killian laughed.
