Killian’s POV.
“Killian it’s been a whole day and half, she’s going to die of both hunger and suffering,” my mother ran after me as I walked hastily out of the house.
I needed to be away from her since she had joined the rest of the pack members condemning my actions toward Aria.
“Killian please, listen!” She yelled running to stand before me, blocking me away from moving ahead.
“I need to get to somewhere real fast Mother,” I breathed out in frustration.
“That is such a lie, you are avoiding this discussion,” she chided.
“Well, that’s because I don’t have anything to say about it, Aria is suffering for her crime and that’s it,”
“Don’t you think you are being too harsh on her?” She stared at me with pleading eyes.
“Harsh? Mother, Elena is missing, she is in danger and I have absolutely no clue about how to find her, Aria is the only suspect that I have right now, and don’t even speak to me about proof because you know Elena doesn’t have another enemy except Aria, you have seen how she looks at her with threatening eyes, she knows something,” I rasped, trying hard to control my anger. Everyone and everything seemed to infuriate me now.
“I haven’t said that she is completely innocent, neither am I suggesting that you let her go, all I’m saying is that you lift off the starvation and let her have something to eat at least, it’s been close to 48 hours, what happens if she starves to death?” She said.
“I absolutely do not care about that, Aria is a stubborn woman, she won’t say anything until she has been made to suffer a little bit, and if she loses her life in the process, like I said, I absolutely do not care,”
She hissed frustratedly, her gaze searching mine as if trying to bring back the considerate son that she always knew. If only she knew that I would only be redeemed if Elena returns to me.
“And what about Emily huh? What explanation do you have for her about her mother?”
“Father?” I suddenly heard Emily’s tiny voice call, almost immediately.
Oh no!
I turned around to see her walking towards me with a sad look on her face.
As she drew closer, I could clearly see the strings of dried tears on her cheeks. She has been crying.
I felt my heart ache terribly as I beheld her tears stained face.
I gently bent forward and scooped her into my arms, my soft gaze resting on her confused ones. “What troubles you princess?” I asked, I was surprised at how extremely gentle my voice sounded now.
She sniffed in her tears. “I can’t find Mother, I have looked everywhere for her,” she spoke in between tears.
My heart hooked up in my throat, I could now find validity in my mom’s words. Why didn’t I think of it before now?
How could I not have realized that she would certainly look for her mother if she didn’t see her in few hours.
I racked my head for a possible reply to soothe her mind, I couldn’t possibly tell her the truth about her mother, I couldn’t trouble her innocent heart.
“It’s alright princes, you don’t have to worry, clean your tears,” I reached out to wipe away her tears. “Mother is fine okay? She stepped out a bit for an urgent call and she’ll be back shortly, don’t panic alright?”
She nodded slowly, wiping away the remnant of her tears. “Do you have any idea when she will be back?”
“Soon,” the words left my mouth without warning.
Surprisingly, that did the trick as her face lit up in a smile. “Alright father.”
I thought of a way to mend her sadness. “Why don’t you go to grandma? She has been wanting to see you,” I swiftly turned to my mother, giving her a knowing look.
“Come here my little angel,” she squealed sweetly, taking her from me.
“I have missed you so much, do you know that? C’mon, let’s go home and wait for your mother,” she said turning to give me a knowing glance before walking away with Emily.
I breathed out a deep sigh of relief as I watched them as I watched them disappear through the path that led to the palace. I couldn’t bear seeing my child shed tears.
It was time to pay Aria a visit.
“Alpha,” the guards guarding the cell room bowed slightly as they noticed my presence.
“Lead me to her cell ward,”
One of the guards stood and beckoned on me to follow him behind.
I tracked behind him as he walked up to a dark room at the extreme end of the cell.
It was dim but I could perfectly see her, sitting on the floor across the room, gazing back at me, her eyes filled with coldness and fury.
I could see anger surging through her eyes, her chest heaving rapidly, of course, I knew she was in rage but that meant nothing to me, she was getting exactly everything she yearned in full for.
I took a moment to scan through her body, she looked extremely tattered and weak.
Mother was right, if I didn’t feed her past today, we would all return to her corpse.
Despite how determined I was to punish her thoroughly until she speaks, I still felt a pang of guilt hit me as I watched how almost unrecognizable.
“Have you come to check if I’m still alive? Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I am,” her voice quivered with
I chuckled slightly. Trust Aria to never accept defeat.
“Yeah, let’s see if you will be, by tomorrow without food or a drop of water,” I smiled at her.
She swiftly staggered to her feet, rushing forward, her hands clutching onto the rusty iron and bars of the cell door. “Killian, let me out of here, please,”
I chuckled, shaking my head negatively. “You only get a chance to be pardoned if you speak the truth Aria, tell me what you know.”
