Killian’s POV.
I checked myself in the mirror one last time and a wide smile broke out on my face, I am not one to always look in the mirror but today is a special day for both Elena and I. And I wanted to look exceptionally charming for her, I’m damn sure she would do the same.
It was few minutes to the ceremony time and everything was set already.
After I checked on Elena last night and couldn’t get through to her, I decided to let her get a good rest instead of going to her room later at night to check if she was awake.
The stylists have been sent to her room already and they might probably be done dressing her up now.
I was resisting the strong urge to rush to her room right now and be the first to set my eyes on her, but I needed to be patient and let everything play out accordingly.
As I sat on the bed, pulling my shoes on, a soft came on the door. “Killian!” I heard my mom’s voice call.
I quickly pulled on my shoes and approached the door pulling open to her smiling face.
“You and Elena can’t seem to give each other breathing space huh? Even on a day like this?” She teased and I stared at her in confusion completely lost.
“Anyways, you can let her come out now, the stylists are in wait for her, time is almost up,” she added.
What is she talking about?
“Mom? What are you saying?” I manage to mutter through my confused state.
“Elena is here, isn’t she?” She asked and I chuckled.
“No, she isn’t, aren’t the stylist dressing her up in her room?” I raised my brows at her.
I watched as confusion flashed through her face as well.
“She isn’t in her room Killian, and the stylists are waiting, they have been knocking on her door and no response before they came to me,” she replied.
My heart skipped a beat. What was that supposed to mean?
“If she isn’t here then where could she be? I haven’t seen her since yesterday,” she added increasing my fear.
I stared at my mother, my eyes filled with fear. “Did they knock properly and she didn’t answer? I mean where else could she be?” I panicked.
She shook her head, I could also spot the panic in her eyes. “They did knock well according to them, but c’mon, let’s go get her by ourselves,” she replied.
I nodded frantically, not waiting for any more explanation before walking past her and made my way toward Elena’s room in long strides, it felt like if I slowed down a bit, it might be too late.
I got to her door and waisted no second before releasing series of loud knocks on the door, each knock echoed with desperate urgency.
There was no single movement from the room signifying that someone was inside.
“Why isn’t she responding!” I growled repeatedly hitting the door with my fist, surprisingly, the door flew open by a loud bang of my fist on it.
I turned to glance at my mother, my eyes filled with fear, she nodded at me to go ahead and I slowly traced my step into the room, scared of what I might find.
To my surprise, the room was empty, with no trace of Elena, her scent still lingered faintly though.
I inched further into the room, my heart beating hard in my chest as I stood at the center of the room, my eyes traveling through the entire corners of the room in a second, yet no sign of her.
“Elena? Where are you?” My voice quivered as I called out to her, my throat suddenly dried up.
I stood with my body trembling uncontrollably as I awaited a response but I was greeted by a heart-wrenching silence.
“No!” I roared, my voice echoing through the entire palace. “No! This can’t be happening!” My palms clenched into a tight fist as my body shook terribly. I wasn’t losing it.
“Mother.” I turned towards my mom, her face was filled with fear and pity as well. “She’s not here, what’s happening?”
“Calm down son, she might have stepped out, all we have to do is send out a search team for her,” she tried to console me but I could see the fear in her voice, the panic written all over her face. It was obvious that she was only trying to make me feel better, while she battled her own fears.
Almost immediately, a few of my warriors ran into the room. “Alpha, we heard your voice and it’s not pleasant,” Graham stared at me in confusion.
“Elena is missing, I can’t find her,” I breathed out.
“This is bad, it shouldn’t be on a day like this,” he lamented.
“I need you to organize a search party immediately, make sure you find her and bring her back to me,”
He nodded. “Right away Alpha, we will find her, I promise you,” he pledged.
“This isn’t going to be only for the Warriors, call together all our powerful and most trusted pack members, everyone is needed on this search, my mate must be found today,” I growled and he nodded.
“Right on it Alpha,” he nodded, signaling the rest of the warriors and they rushed out, leaving me behind with my mother.
“Mom, what is going on? What could have possibly happened to my mate?”
She quickly rushed towards me and wrapped her arms around me. “Don’t panic son, we’ll find her and your mating ceremony will hold still, you both will bear me lots of grandchildren and live happily,” she stroked my back soothingly as she spoke.
Her words filtered into my head, filling me with a new surge of strength.
Elena will be found in no time and our mating ceremony will most definitely hold still, she will always remain by my side till the day I take my last breath.
I clutched tightly to my mother and buried my face in her chest.
“I can’t lose her again.”
