opposite of the task.

Elena’s POV.
I paced to and fro the living room, my heart racing like a wild drum.
Killian was still in love with me?
Funny how he has never said those words to me before, not even when were together years ago, probably because he never got the chance to say it since we were only together barely a week before the tragic occurrence. But hearing him admit it with so much emotions in his eyes to back up his confession hit me differently.
But then, what does this mean for my mission? I can’t let this get in between the situation that was already swallowing me neck deep.
It was bad already that I let it get to this point where our emotions were invested already.
The faster I get this over and done with the less painful it will be for the both of us.
I collapsed on the couch, Hurricanes of emotions swirling through my body. But I was determined to put my emotions behind and put an end to this torture.
With no single strength left in me to find my way to the bed, I relaxed properly on the couch and dozed off.

I woke up the next morning with a strong determination to find a way around my mission here, I was already having so many obstacles.
As I made breakfast, an idea suddenly struck me. I needed to find a way to send a message across to Darius to assure him of my safety. He would do the same if it was him in a situation like this.
I’m certain he would be restless since I left, a little message might cheer him up.
I rapidly rushed my meal and headed out towards the pack boundary, he had his warriors laid out at the boundary to ensure my safety, I could get one of them to take my message to him.
I looked around carefully as I walked, making sure no one saw me walk through the lonely path towards the boundary.
As I walked forward, I couldn’t help the uneasy feeling that crept to the put of my stomach, there was suddenly an odd feeling about the lane, it felt as though I wasn’t alone, like I was been followed or something.
I suddenly braced up and halted on my spot, looking around for whatever it might be but I found nothing.
Everywhere was quiet once again just like I was the only one walking along the lane but once I started walking, the awkward feeling crept in again.
I decided to ignore it and continue my journey.
Walking on, I suddenly felt a shadow looming over me, I felt eyes on me, like I was being watched.
I knew I wasn’t hallucinating, the feeling was there, and it was strong.
The presence became more pronounced as the second ticked by.
I couldn’t think of anyone who would be so lame to play such a prank on me.
With my heart beating hard against my chest, I increased my steps and hurried home.
“I see you are doing the opposite of the task.” A sharp scream escaped my lips as I heard a rigid voice behind me. I quickly swerved around only to see Aragorn standing beside me, fits of mocking laughter bubbling through his throat.
“You scared me,” I growled at him but his laughter only increased.
“You are drifting from the mission, Elena.” His face suddenly squeezed into a frown.
“It’s not that easy, I’m doing everything within my capacity,” I replied.
“By sneaking around with him and having fun?” He cut me off.
“How else would you rather have me do it? I need him distracted before I can do anything, Killian isn’t someone you launch an attack on with wide eyes.” I was getting pissed off already. I hadn’t gotten over the crazy revelation of his involvement in my banishment and here he was, making me go through worse.
“I don’t have much time to waste, get this over with.” He spat.
“And why don’t you go ahead and do it yourself? Are you so afraid of him huh?” I couldn’t hold in my anger anymore.
I watched as a flash of anger flickered through his eyes but he quickly concealed it with a taunting smirk. “It’s just really fun having you do it.”
I clenched my palm into a fist, anger raging through me.
If he wasn’t a dangerous Lycan, I would engage him in a really good fight.
“You have few days left Elena, after that, you can kiss your kids goodbye.” He laughed hysterically.
That erupted the wildest fury at the tip of my stomach. “You know whatever Killian did to you, you deserve it in folds because your heart reeks of filth!” I screamed at his face.
He scoffed dryly and watched my outburst.
“Did you think I wouldn’t find out that you were behind the massacre of those wolves that led to my banishment huh? And that is not enough, you are making me kill the father of my children and still holding them captive, what exactly do you want with me?” I was trying desperately not to let my tears fall. He doesn’t deserve it.
“I bear nothing against you Elena, you just happened to be mated to the wrong person and hence, have to suffer the consequence,” he blurted and started heading out.
Suddenly, he halted on the spot and turned to face. “The kids are such a delight though.” With that, he vanished into the thick woods.
I stood rooted on the spot, my fist clenched tightly as I watched his retracting figure, deep anger simmering inside of me.
Turning around to walk away, my gaze landed on Aria. She was marching towards me with a furious look on her face.
Not now, please.
“Where is he? Where is my husband you’ve been sneaking around with?” She roared.
I ignored her and made to walk past, surprisingly she grabbed my fist forcefully and tried to twist it.
I wasn’t having it anymore, not with the anger Aragorn had aroused within me.
In a swift move, I twisted my hand to hold hers, making sure my grip was tight enough to leave bruises on her skin.
“Elena, you are hurting me,” she groaned.
“You didn’t consider that before starting what you can’t finish.” I roared angrily, tightening my grip on her while twisting further.
She couldn’t stop screaming.
“Next time you make such a silly move on me again, be prepared to lose an entire arm.” I shoved her hard to the floor not caring where she landed.
I fixed my dress and walked away.
