Killian’s POV.
I walked back to the training ground, anger simmering inside me.
I couldn’t exactly understand how I felt, but my whole body was literally trembling.
I wasn’t ready for this, not with Aria. How do I have a child with a woman that I despise so much? How do I father a child that I absolutely do not want?
“Alpha!” I quickly turned around as I heard someone call.
It was one of my guards.
“Aria has put to bed, Alpha,” my heart skipped as his words hit me hard.
The baby has arrived? What do I do now? How do I react? What am I supposed to do next?
I was totally confused. This would have been a lot easier if it was Elena.
“Alpha?” the guard’s voice snapped me out of my trance.
He was still standing and watching my confused state.
“It’s alright, you can go ahead, I’ll be at the clinic shortly,” I stuttered.
He bowed slightly and left.
I exhaled a deep breath and headed towards the clinic, every step I took, my heartbeat increased rapidly.
I stood outside the door, breathing heavily.
After what felt like forever, I finally summoned strength and pushed the door open.
“Son, you are here!” My mother squealed happily immediately I walked into the room.
“Killian, our child has arrived, it’s a baby girl,” Aria smiled at me. She was lying on the bed looking weak.
I stood rooted on my spot, my gaze shifting from the both of them to the baby cot across the room. I couldn’t say a word.
“Don’t just stand there son, come and hold your child, she’s so beautiful,” my mom cooed.
Slowly, I placed one leg ahead of the other until I was standing over the cot, my gaze lingering on the little baby sleeping peacefully on her tiny bed.
“What is wrong with you? Don’t you want to carry your child huh?” My mom shoved me away from the way and leaned over the cot, she gently grabbed the baby and stood to face me.
“Here, hold your child,” she handed her over to me.
I could feel my hands shaking as I held onto the little child, there was no excitement in me whatsoever, I was void of emotion.
This wasn’t how I had pictured my first encounter with my child. I was supposed to be happy and embrace her in my arms. But I just held her emotionlessly, my gaze on her held nothing but confusion.
“Isn’t she so beautiful? So innocent,” my mom couldn’t stop squealing happily.
“You are not saying anything, Killian,” I heard Aria say.
I bent over and dropped the little child back on her bed, turning around, I stormed out without saying a word to the both of them.
“Ahh!” I groaned as I released a hard punch on the nearby wall.
My fingers quivered at the same velocity as my heart. I needed a way to take the pain away. I couldn’t believe that one single night of mistake would totally ruin my entire life.
All I could imagine was how beautiful this would have been if it was Elena in place of Aria. It would have been so much wonderful.
“You wish it was Elena, right?” I heard my mom’s voice behind me.
I turned around to face her. “Will I be a terrible person if I said that I really do not want that child?”
She breathed out and drew closer to me, grabbing my hands and squeezed gently.
“I totally understand how you feel, I mean, having a child with a woman you do not love is a lot,” she mumbled.
“But you really have to understand that this is what faith wants for you and you can’t avoid it, all you have to do is find a way to make it work, be the man I know you to be, and do the right thing.”
“The only thing that feels right to me at this moment is to stay away from them, I don’t care if that makes me a terrible person,”
She leaned closer and pulled me into a hug. I felt myself melt into her arms, it was exactly what I needed at the moment.
“You are the Alpha of this powerful kingdom Killian, and you are a grown man, no one can make decisions for you, and definitely, no one can question your decisions,” she broke away from the hug and stared into my eyes.
“Whatever decision you agree on, don’t hesitate to implement it regardless of what people will think of you, and I need you to know that I’m always here for you,”
I pulled her yet again, into a tight hug.
“Thank you mother.” I whispered, burying my face in her arms.
**
A month flew by, with Aria still at the palace, with the baby.
As much as I tried to be accommodating towards her and the baby, my emotions failed me. I was literally living my worst life and I couldn’t take it anymore.
“Aria, do you have a minute?” I asked walking into the room.
“Yes, please sit,”
“I’d rather stand,” I replied.
I watched as her face crumpled into a frown.
“I have gotten a place for you, well furnished, it’s, a conducive environment to raise our child,” I began.
“What? We are living just fine here,” she chirped in.
“Aria, we are not mated together, you can’t live here,”
“But I thought…”
“That I will choose as my mate once you bear a child for me? Is that what you thought?” I cut her off quickly.
“Killian…”
“I’m not getting married to you Aria, I will take full responsibility for my child and I’ll try to visit as frequently as I can,”
“Please don’t do this Killian,” tears rolled down her cheeks.
“I will have the guards get your things ready to move.” I said with a tone of finality.
Paying deaf ears to her tears, I turned around and walked away.
I might not have cleared the entire mess but it’s a good start.
