ENZO DE-LUCA.
I hated what I did to her, she didn’t deserve that and I might be fine with treating other women like crap but Maeve isn’t like any other woman.
She’s different from the rest and the ultimate reason I’m trying to be a better man but that just went down the drain. She definitely hates me right now, there’s no lie about that.
“Are you going to keep avoiding her?” Levi’s voice jolted me out of a thought I didn’t know I was lost in until his voice resounded in my head, pulling me out of it.
It’s been almost a week since I’d rudely dismissed her and I haven’t been able to live with myself since then. I leave the house very early and return really late at night so we wouldn’t run into each other.
I’ve been thinking of ways to make it up to her, to get her to forgive me and hopefully be the woman she was with before the whole thing with my rival happened but that’s just my selfishness talking.
There’s no way she’d forget all the disrespectful things I’d said to her and just let it slide like it’s nothing. Sighing, I downed the rest of my vodka and let out another exasperated sigh.
“You can’t keep avoiding her, somehow, one day, you’ll run into her and you will have to confront this feeling you’re trying so hard to run away from.” Levi continued and I hated the fact that he was right.
“That’s it, there’s no feeling to confront,” I lied despite knowing that Levi could see through my flimsy lie, “Maeve is just like any other woman, she’s better off just warming my bed.” I added.
The sound of Levi laughing almost caused a vein to pop in my head as I clenched my fist around the glass I was holding but reacting right now would mean I’m proving him right.
“What’s so funny about what I just said?” I asked, letting my disgust show in my voice as I glared at him but he only kept laughing even more.
“You know, I would have believed you if your eyes didn’t dilate when you called her name.” He pointed out and I felt my chest tighten as I looked away from him.
“I know you, Enzo, you barely remember people’s names, let alone the women you fuck.” He continued with a sigh and paused to take a sip of his whiskey.
“Do you remember how long it took for you to remember Yvette’s name? The only reason her name managed to stick was because after rescuing her from her bullies that year and basically training her, she joined us.”
“If Maeve was like any other woman, you would have tossed her aside long before that feeling in your chest turns into something so strong that makes you want to protect her.” He finished.
“I really don’t know what you’re talking about,” I retorted, steeling my heart and making sure I don’t get affected by Levi’s sweet talks, “oh, I know, I’m tired of her at this point so, you can totally have her.” I finished.
Silence settled between us for a while and I hated myself for bringing up that kind of suggestion but I know Levi and I know he wouldn’t-
“Oh really? God, I was starting to think it was never going to happen.” His happy voice made me sick to my stomach as I turned my head to look into his eyes.
They revealed his excitement and I have never seen Levi that excited before. He chugged his whiskey and let out a painful sigh as he held his chest.
“That burns,” he said, ignoring the fact that I was glaring at him with every ounce of disgust that I can muster, “tell me about her, you’ve fuck her, how is she?” He asked.
I felt a lump starting to form in my throat but I forced it down as I opened my mouth to start talking about the perks of fucking Maeve but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get any word out.
My irritation cackled and I felt myself starting to get immobilized by fury as I thought about sharing Maeve with my best friend.
It’s not the first time we would share the same woman but it’s the first time I’d be sharing Maeve with someone.
“Go on, tell me about her.” He probed, further irritating me even more and I never thought that a day would come where I would want to have my best friend’s head on a stake.
Something tugged at my chest, making me more uncomfortable than I cared to admit but Levi just wouldn’t stop talking, his comments about her mouth and how good his cock would be in her mouth just irritated me.
“You. Stay. Away. From. Her.” I snarled, having no idea when I got so close to him that my palm was now wrapped around his throat, cutting off his airflow.
“Y- you’re- you’re going to kill me, Enzo.” Levi gargled as both of his hands clamped down on mine but my grip didn’t loosen, his eyes were starting to get bloodshot.
“You. Are. Going-” His grip tightened around my hand and he twisted it before slamming me against the table and kicking me in my crotch but missing my nut.
“KILL ME!” He barked and it wasn’t then that I came back to my senses. I was going to kill my best friend and that too for Maeve.
This is why being away from her is what’s best for me and her, I can’t be killing people for her. I can’t have myself-
“Just drop that stupid pride of yours and talk to her!” Levi snapped at me, “tell her you’re trying to protect her and apologize for being a jerk to her, Jesus Christ!” He was almost yelling.
I wanted to do that too but I didn’t want her to get even more involved with all of this than she already is, I really can’t let that happen.
“And I wasn’t going to fuck her, I know how you feel about her, I wouldn’t do that to you.”
