~IRIS
I had never felt this helpless in my entire life.
Rage burned through my soul as I ran toward the cross, not caring that there could be a sort of trap somewhere waiting for me. My wolf howled in pain and I felt as if I had been crippled just seeing Andrea in this state.
“Andrea, wait!” I heard Miles scream but I was too angry to listen.
“Get her down, please!” I heard the bitch Yulia say to Issa no doubt.
By the time I reached the cross, Issa had already gotten there. He moved at great speed as he climbed up the cross and began to tear the things bounding Andrea off.
In no time, he was lowering her into my arms.
“Andrea! It’s me!” I cried as I tapped her cheeks continuously but there was no response.
I felt as if my world was about to end.
“She’s not responding!” I cried.
Detective Khan reached the scene with Miles and Yulia following closely behind.
“Let me see,” Khan stated and knelt before her.
“Don’t touch her and act like you care!” I suddenly barked as hot tears began to stream down my cheeks.
“Iris, you need to calm down, he’s only trying to help,” Issa stated.
“I don’t trust her with any of you! How sure am I that one of you didn’t hand her over to the people who did this to her!” I screamed hysterically and started to fight them all off.
My wolf was ablaze and churning with instability. I was so close to breaking.
That was when Issa once again intervened. He grabbed me and pulled me into a hug yet I still kept fighting in his arms.
“Do it,” I heard Issa’s voice command.
Yet he won’t let me go so I would fight Khan away from my sister. He instead pulled me away from them and more tears continued streaming down my cheeks.
“I don’t know where Leia is. I can’t find her anywhere. M- my father has been arrested by the council and now this happened to my sister. I don’t know what to think anymore.”
Issa did not say a word. He only held me in his arms, patting my back gently. I felt some of my senses and control slowly coming back to me and I turned to see what Khan was doing to my sister.
I raised my brows in understanding when I saw him pressing down on her chest and giving her mouth to mouth air.
He was trying to revive her.
Eventually, Andrea gasped awake. I broke free from Issa and ran to her immediately.
Andrea took one look at us and suddenly started screaming like she had lost her mind.
“Andrea, it’s me!” I cried.
But she started fighting me off this time.
“Andrea please, it’s me, it’s Iris,” I begged.
“Let me go! Stay away from me!” She roared as she pushed me away from her.
In the next moment, she rose to her feet and began to run off when Khan easily cut up with her and struck her at the back of her neck.
She gasped and fell into his arms, knocked out cold.
“She’s in shock. She’ll probably feel better when she wakes up again.”
I wanted to be angry at him for hitting my sister but I could see clearly that he only did it to help my sister.
“I’ll take it from here and get her home,” I stated firmly, waltzing over to him.
“You can’t carry her yourself. You’re not in the right state of mind either. I’ll come with you,” Khan stated calmly and annoyingly too.
I gritted my teeth at him. I hated to be at his mercy. I hated to be at all of their mercy. I was supposed to always remain independent and in control. I wasn’t supposed to let the world see me at my lowest yet today, I had embarrassed myself.
“We’re coming too,” Issa said and I turned sharply at the thought of him bringing his new mate.
I glared angrily at Yulia. “I don’t want that bitch in my house again. In fact, I don’t need you.”
“It’s fine, just go with her and make sure she’s okay,” I heard Yulia whisper.
“I can’t leave you alone here. I’m supposed to be by yourself at all times,” Issa answered her.
“I can protect myself, Issa. What could happen in your absence?”
“A lot of things,” he pressed back.
“Look. The last thing I want is your sympathy, bitch.” Then I turned to Issa. “Stay with your mate. Khan is already following me.”
“Yeah, me too,” Miles suddenly said and I turned to see the most annoying man I ever knew.
Issa’s little loyal dog.
“You don’t get to-”
“Relax, Old lady. I’m the overall Beta of wolves. You can’t tell me what to do,” he stated and without warning, he grabbed me and placed me over his shoulder.
“Hey! What the fuck is this! Put me down!” I screamed as new rage coursed through my veins.
“Take care of her, Miles,” Issa muttered.
“You got it, Boss,” Miles answered as he started walking away.
“Hey! Let me down!” I screamed.
I ended up sinking my claws into his skin and biting as hard as I could. He grunted in pain but he did not let go.
I thought I had been humiliated before but this was beyond it.
We arrived at the car which Khan entered with my sister. They sat in the back while Andrea lay in his arms.
Miles pulled the front door and gently placed me inside. “Now be a good girl and stay put. We’re doing this for you and your sister.”
For a moment, his voice hit me with a cooling and calming effect and his brown eyes seemed to bore into mine with a gentleness that I could not explain.
I widened my eyes and looked away immediately. I could swear that I felt my heart skip.
What the fuck was that?
Miles did not seem to notice my strange reaction though. He shut the door and went around to the driver’s seat before getting behind the wheel. Then he brought the car to life and drove off to our estate.
It was not long before we arrived at home but something felt off the moment he killed the engines and we got out of the car.
“Do you sense anything strange?” Miles asked.
I looked at him for a split second before turning back to the house.
“Your sister needs to rest. We can’t keep standing around with her like this,” Khan stated.
Then he began to walk toward the house.
He merely made it four steps away before the house came ablaze.
