Helen
The moment I land at the airport, I make my way to the office. Gavin called earlier and relayed some really disturbing news. I can’t have anyone learning about the past I have tried to hide for the last seven years.
Gavin is already waiting for me outside the office when I arrive at the company. He greets me but I ignore him. I don’t think I am in the mood to exchange pleasantries at this time.
” Did you find out who is digging into my past? ” I ask immediately I settle on my work desk. Gavin shakes his head.
” Whoever is looking you up is very careful. He hasn’t been leaving any traces. If it wasn’t for our contact from the orphanage alerting me, I would not have known.” Gavin answers, more to my changrain.
” Do you think they found out my identity?” I wonder out loud. This is one among the things that I have been worrying would catch up with me in the future.
” I can’t be sure.” Gavin replies.
” I don’t care what it takes but make sure that nothing from the past can be linked to me. Whoever the person digging my information is, we don’t know their intentions. I have worked hard for so long to be where I am. I won’t let anything drag me down.”
Jason
It’s been a week since Helen left Paris in a hurry. A week of not being able to get hold of her. At first, she wouldn’t answer my calls. Afterwards, she blocked me. I regret never finding more information about her. Not like I expected her to leave so suddenly.
I have tried everything to find her but it’s like she disappeared from the face of the earth. Every time I think that I might never see her again I feel like losing my mind. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I will do anything to have her in my life.
” Are you even listening to what I am saying?” Dante whines from beside me. He has been blabbering about how great Aria is for building a company from scratch. If my mind wasn’t clouded by Thoughts of Helen, I would also be praising her.
We flew all the way here to meet Aria, our childhood friend and savior.
” What are you saying? Of course I am listening.” I reply.
” Then what did I just say? ” Dante asks.
” Something about Aria.” I reply.
” See? You weren’t listening. Where is your mind? We came here to meet Aria and you can’t even keep focus for a minute.” Dante complains.
” Sorry, I just have a lot on my mind.” I explain and Dante sighs.
” This is about Helen, right?” He asks and I look away. ” I have never seen you so troubled because of a woman. I know she is important to you, that’s why I already instructed our secret team to look for her.” Dante continues.
” They will find her. But now, can you atleast keep your mind on what brought us here?”
I nod. Since Aria changed her name, we decided to pay her a visit in the name of a business proposal. Our company is top in the market, very prestigious and the most sought after for partnership.
I am sure her company would be delighted to learn that we have a business proposal.
” Are you sure she will like the idea?” Dante asks. I can feel the worry in his words and see it on his face.
” Since she went to such great lengths to conceal her past, we don’t know why. She might refuse to meet us or even send someone else in her stead.” I try to reason with him.
I don’t know why she went to such great lengths to conceal her past after changing her name. Maybe because she doesn’t want people from her past learning about her or she is hiding a secret.
Whatever the reason is, I am sure that there is a very valid explanation.
” I guess we will know in a few moments.” Dante says and I nod.
We make our way to the car which will drop us at her office.
Our car pulls up in front of the building that houses the offices of the company. Dante and I get out of the car. Our bodyguards are already waiting for us at the entrance of the building.
They follow us into the building. The moment we step inside, we are met by a tall woman with red hair. She smiles brightly as soon as she spots us.
” Mr. Jason and Dante, It’s an honour to meet you both. Please follow me.” She says politely. We had already informed the company about our meeting.
We follow her. She leads us towards a room at the far end of the building.
” The CEO is already waiting inside.” She informs us, ushering us to the room.
The door is already opened and we find ourselves staring at a pair of familiar green eyes. I stop breathing the moment I meet those beautiful green eyes.
“Helen?” I call in surprise. I don’t know how to feel or how to act. Helen looks taken aback by my arrival.
” What are you doing here?” The question slips past my lips before I can stop it.
” I could ask you the same question.” She replies and Dante looks between us, confused. I can see the question screaming on his face.
” Wait! Do you two know each other?” Dante asks. Helen doesn’t respond but her gaze doesn’t leave mine.
” She is the woman that left Paris a week ago.” I finally explain.
” Your future wife?” Dante asks and I send him a glare. Noticing his slip up, he covers his mouth.
Helen tenses from those words and her countenance changes. She glares at me.
” What brings you here? I thought I made things clear? What happened in Paris stays in Paris.” She snaps.
” You didn’t give me the chance to speak.” I reply calmly.
” Well, this is my office and I would appreciate it if you leave.” She says in a tone that is so cold it sends shivers down my spine.
” Please, at least hear what we have to say.” Dante pleads and I glare at him.
” There is nothing to talk about. Leave.” Helen orders.
” Aria, are you sure you want to drive us away? ” I ask and her eyes widen, anger flashing in them.
” Who the hell are you? How do you know that name?” She asks.
” Aria, do you really not remember us? Victor and Jared?” Dante asks and her expressions change, surprise overtaking her face.
