Gavin’s expression grew serious as he sighed and said, “If I had the choice, I’d prefer Sophie to marry into the Euranon School. It would bring us greater benefits! But unfortunately, the support from the Alfredson family is far more critical right now.”
Hearing this, Oliver Prescott’s face shifted slightly. Cautiously, he asked, “Master Gavin, do you mean to say that Miss Sophie once had a marriage agreement with the Euranon School?”
Gavin nodded. “Yes, she did. And not just anyone-the agreement was with the heir of the Euranon School.”
This revelation made Oliver Prescott’s face pale. “Then wouldn’t breaking it now be considered going back on our word? If the Euranon School finds out, they’ll surely come after us. It could spiral out of control.”
Gavin glanced at the nervous Oliver Prescott, his tone calm and collected. “Don’t worry. I’ve already made thorough preparations. Do you think I’d make such a reckless decision otherwise?”
Oliver Prescott, still puzzled by Gavin’s confidence, asked, “Master, why not choose the Euranon School? It’s a major sect, after all. Many would kill for an alliance like that.”
Gavin sighed softly, then smiled faintly. “Of course, I understand how rare an opportunity it is. But right now, the priority is rebuilding Azure Cloud Resort. My old man’s death cost us too much. The Euranon School can only offer financial support, but what we urgently need is manpower. By marrying Sophie into the Alfredson family, we can immediately gain five thousand cultivators. That’s exactly what Azure Cloud Resort is missing.”
Just as Oliver Prescott was about to respond, Gavin cut him off.
“Of course, I’ve also considered the potential fallout with the Euranon School. When they find out, we’ll simply send Sophie back to them. It’s not a big deal.”
Gavin spoke casually, but Oliver Prescott was left dumbfounded.
“Master, forgive me for asking, but what do you mean by that?”
Gavin chuckled. “The old men in the Alfredson family are so gullible. I sent someone to trick them into believing that their idiot grandson could regain his memory if he married Sophie. They bought it and immediately sought her out.”
“I took the opportunity to demand five thousand cultivators in exchange. Once we have them, I’ll inform the Euranon School that the Alfredson family forcibly took Sophie. At that point, it won’t be a battle between us and the Alfredson family-it’ll be a fight between the Euranon School and the Alfredson family. And we’ll reap the rewards, watching them tear each other apart!”
“When the Alfredson family is destroyed, we’ll marry Sophie to the heir of the Euranon School. If he’s still dissatisfied, we’ll send Priya as well. Let him marry both sisters-wouldn’t that be perfect? That way, we won’t offend the Euranon School, and we’ll still have the five thousand cultivators from the Alfredson family. It’s a win-win for us.”
As Gavin finished speaking, his smile grew increasingly smug, as if everything was unfolding exactly as he had planned. To him, Sophie was nothing more than a flawless chess piece, capable of securing immense benefits.
In that moment, he even felt a twisted sense of gratitude toward his brother for leaving behind two such beautiful daughters. They were tools he could manipulate at will, trading them for limitless gains.
Oliver Prescott raised a thumb and said, “Master, you’re truly brilliant. I can see the revival and future glory of Azure Cloud Resort under your leadership. Serving by your side is my greatest honor.”
Gavin laughed heartily. “Prescott, you’re too modest. It’s your support that brings me the greatest honor. Rest assured, your contributions will be remembered. With your help, Azure Cloud Resort will shine brighter than ever before!”
“Master, you flatter me,” Oliver Prescott replied with a smile. “That might be a bit of an exaggeration.”
As the two praised each other, the one-armed man standing behind them suddenly interjected, “Master Gavin, don’t you think you should consider Miss Sophie’s feelings in all of this?”
The interruption froze the smiles on Gavin and Oliver Prescott’s faces.
“Wolf, what do you mean by that?” Gavin’s gaze sharpened as he turned toward the one-armed man.
Wolf remained expressionless as he replied, “Master Gavin, Miss Sophie is a person too. Have you given any thought to how she might feel about all this?”
“Feelings? Don’t tell me you’re in love with Sophie,” Gavin asked coldly.
Wolf quickly denied it. “No, Master Gavin, I wouldn’t dare. I’m just worried that Miss Sophie might not be able to bear it and could end up taking her own life.”
“Hahaha!” Gavin burst out laughing. “Suicide? If she had the courage to kill herself, she wouldn’t have lived this long. Don’t be naive-she won’t dare.”
“And as for pitying Sophie, don’t bother. This is her fate! It’s not my fault. Blame her parents for being ungrateful, blame her grandfather for being ungrateful! Now that she’s in my hands, she’s nothing more than a commodity.”
“I’ll use her to maximize benefits for Azure Cloud Resort. Not just her-her sister Priya as well! They’re orphans now, but they carry the bloodline of the Walsh family. Such beautiful women would be wasted if I didn’t put them to good use.”
“Hahaha, hahahahaha!” Gavin laughed, his arrogance and cruelty on full display.
Hearing Gavin’s laughter, Wolf felt a deep sense of discomfort. The once-proud little princess had fallen so far-it was impossible not to feel sympathy for her.
Seeing Wolf lost in thought, Gavin said, “Wolf, I know what you’re thinking. You’re in love with Sophie, aren’t you?”
Wolf quickly lowered his head. “Master Gavin, I wouldn’t dare.”
“Wouldn’t dare? So you do like her.” Gavin smirked. “If that’s the case, just say so. When Sophie returns, I’ll let you have her for a night. How about that?”
“One night-do whatever you want with her. But only one night.”
As Gavin spoke, his face lit up with a smug smile, as if he were a god controlling everything.
Hearing Sophie being degraded like this, Wolf’s heart ached. He loved her, but not in such a vile, base way. His love was one of admiration, not desecration.
To treat the one he cherished in such a degrading manner would be an insult to her-and to his own feelings.
