“These so-called traditional medicine experts aren’t just frauds; they love pulling stunts like this! I’m telling you, he’s doomed this time.”
Mr. Westfield chimed in, “Exactly. I could tell from the start that this guy wasn’t any good, but Captain Johnson, you kept defending him. You’re just digging your own grave.”
The two mocked Mike Johnson relentlessly, leaving him speechless.
“By the way, isn’t this beautiful woman here with that little fraud?” Mr. Clarkson’s eyes had been fixed on Wood Faulkner from the moment she entered. Her elegance and beauty were unmatched-who wouldn’t be enchanted?
“Look, he’s already stolen today’s bride. If you don’t mind, you can be with me instead! Whatever he can give you, I can give you ten times, a hundred times more!”
As he finished his sentence, his hand sneakily grabbed Wood Faulkner’s.
Wood Faulkner’s face darkened instantly. Without hesitation, she pulled out a knife and slashed it across Mr. Clarkson’s hand.
Mr. Clarkson opened his mouth to scream, but Wood Faulkner didn’t give him a chance. She stuffed a cloth into his mouth, muffling his cries into a series of “mmmph” sounds.
The people at the table were stunned. No one had expected such a violent reaction from this stunning woman.
Her sudden move left everyone in shock. No one could have imagined that Wood Faulkner would act so decisively-and with such force!
“Shut your filthy mouth! If you dare speak ill of Mr. Scott again, I won’t hesitate to kill you,” Wood Faulkner said coldly, glaring into Mr. Clarkson’s terrified eyes. Her icy demeanor, so at odds with her exquisite beauty, sent chills down everyone’s spines.
Wood Faulkner stood up slowly. With a single step, she leapt gracefully forward, landing directly in front of Kayden.
The move was like something out of a movie. She had been at least seven or eight meters away, but with a light push of her foot, she arrived in an instant.
Her poised and commanding figure, paired with her unparalleled beauty, left everyone breathless. No one had expected her to be so formidable.
Standing beside Kayden, Wood Faulkner said coldly, “Who says Mr. Scott is alone? If anyone here thinks so, come and try touching him.”
As she spoke, the twin blades in her hands dipped slightly, and her entire demeanor turned menacing.
Sophie, watching from the sidelines, felt her heart skip a beat.
It’s her. Sariah Faulkner. It’s really Sariah Faulkner.
Sophie could hardly believe it. Sariah Faulkner, the stunning beauty of the Southwest, was standing here with Kayden, wielding twin blades.
Sariah Faulkner had once been the envy of all, the epitome of grace and poise. Sophie had even felt jealous of her in the past because of Kayden.
But now, Sariah Faulkner wasn’t just with Kayden-she was fighting for him, blades in hand, exuding a heroic aura. Sophie couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy.
“Miss Faulkner, don’t you think you’ve gone too far? Have you forgotten who saved you back then?” Derek pointed at Wood Faulkner, his voice filled with anger. “If it weren’t for my family’s patriarch, you might have died on the Western Frontier!”
Turning to the guests, Derek declared, “This Miss Faulkner once owed her life to our family’s patriarch! And now, she’s pulling a knife on her benefactor. This is a real-life version of the Farmer and the Snake.”
His words stirred a wave of criticism from the crowd.
Wood Faulkner, however, ignored the chatter. She snorted and said, “Anyone who raises a blade against Mr. Scott is my enemy, no matter who they are.”
Derek’s face twitched with anger. He nodded repeatedly and snarled, “Fine! If you’re so eager to die, don’t blame the Alfredson family!”
With that, he shouted, “Do it! Kill them both!”
“Enough!”
Before Derek’s command could be carried out, a thunderous roar echoed through the room.
It was Zack Alfredson’s voice.
All eyes turned to Zack Alfredson. His face, wrinkled like old bark, was now devoid of its usual humor. His stern expression only deepened the lines on his face.
Everyone awaited his order, expecting him to give the signal to eliminate Kayden.
But to everyone’s shock, Zack Alfredson suddenly shouted at the family’s guards surrounding Kayden, “Stand down! All of you!”
At his command, the guards immediately retreated without question.
In the Alfredson family, Zack Alfredson’s word was final.
Derek was stunned and quickly protested, “Father, what are you doing? This man…”
“Enough!” Zack Alfredson bellowed, cutting Derek off decisively.
Then, in a firm tone, he said, “Derek, Orion! Apologize to Mr. Scott.”
Both men froze in disbelief.
To them, Kayden was the one disrespecting the Alfredson family. And now, being forced to apologize to him in front of all these people? That would completely tarnish the family’s reputation.
“Father!” Derek cried out in shock. “Why? We’ve already been too lenient with him, and now you want us to apologize? This is our family’s wedding day, and it’s been ruined-how can we recover from this humiliation?”
“Apologize to Mr. Scott!” Zack Alfredson’s voice was sharp with anger.
Reluctantly, Derek and Orion turned to Kayden. Their voices were barely audible as they muttered, “We’re sorry, Mr. Scott.”
Kayden remained unfazed by their half-hearted apology.
Zack Alfredson, however, stepped forward, his tone suddenly ingratiating. “Mr. Scott, I implore you, show mercy. The Alfredson family is not one to bully or oppress. Before the engagement, the Walsh family assured me that their niece was willing. I had no idea about the hidden truth. If I had known she was unwilling, I would never have forced the issue.”
Kayden stared at Zack Alfredson, his expression cold. Instead of responding, he asked gravely, “So, can this marriage be annulled now?”
Zack Alfredson nodded repeatedly. “Yes! Mr. Scott, it’s entirely up to you. If we had known the woman was yours, we wouldn’t have…”
“Enough!” Kayden interrupted, his voice icy as he spoke each word with precision. “If it weren’t for the fact that you sided with me during the Rocco family auction, and if it weren’t for the debt Wood Faulkner owes you, you wouldn’t even have a chance to explain yourselves.”
“Don’t think for a second that just because I’m no longer the commander of Seclela, you can cross me. If I wanted to wipe out the Alfredson family, it would take me ten minutes. Ten minutes, and your entire family would cease to exist.”
“And as for your guests, they would all die here within those same ten minutes.”
It wasn’t just a threat-it was pure dominance.
