Sylvia extended her slender, fair hand and shook hands lightly with the two of them.
“I’m glad to be able to collaborate with you two.”
Abbigail chuckled, “You’re too kind. The song you sang for us recently really boosted our popularity. We’re grateful to you!”
Stanley was also very humble, “We don’t have much influence anymore. It’s all thanks to everyone who hasn’t forgotten about us and still has some nostalgia for us that we can still make a living.”
Although they said that, Sylvia knew deep down.
In the music industry, their status and the popularity of their songs couldn’t be shaken by ordinary groups or singers.
Both in terms of popularity and the reach of their songs, no one could compare.
“Alright, now that the three of you have met, let’s not waste any time and start rehearsing. Let’s go through it once and see how it sounds.” The director said after they chatted for a while, “I’ll arrange for the band teachers to come over.”
As he spoke, he started making a phone call.
“Should we sing ‘Lady Lux’?” Sylvia thought for a moment and said to Abbigail, “I think the fans would really like to see the three of us singing together.”
“We have three PK segments, and this is the format of the show.” Abbigail took out the rules of the program from the production team and showed them to Sylvia, “There are three rounds of PK. In the first round, we’ll sing ‘Lady Lux,’ which is a song by me and Stanley. In the second round, we’ll sing other people’s songs, choosing a song that is not our own. The third round is random, like a big screen scrolling through nine songs, similar to a roulette wheel. When the scrolling stops, we’ll sing the song it lands on.”
Sylvia wasn’t foolish, and she quickly understood what Abbigail meant.
“The third round is the most challenging because the first two rounds can be decided and chosen by ourselves, right?”
Abbigail nodded, and she discreetly glanced at Sylvia. The woman in front of her had a slender and tall figure, with an elegant and exceptional temperament. She was even more beautiful than many stars in the entertainment industry.
It was such a pity that someone as beautiful as her didn’t enter the entertainment industry.
“Abbigail?” Sylvia called out again when Abbigail didn’t respond. She couldn’t help but call out again.
Abbigail finally snapped out of her thoughts, “Oh, oh, right. Yes, the third round is the most challenging because we don’t know which song it will land on when the scrolling stops.”
“So it seems like I’ll have to learn all nine songs.” Sylvia didn’t feel discouraged or uncomfortable about it. “What are the nine songs?”
Abbigail thought Sylvia might be annoyed when she heard this, but she didn’t expect Sylvia’s attitude to be so serious and earnest.
She couldn’t help but form a new opinion of Sylvia in her heart. “Wait here, the music director will be here soon to provide you with all the specific information, sheet music, and lyrics of the songs.”
Stanley leaned over and said, “And there will be professional music teachers to teach you how to sing and pronounce. So Miss Andrews, don’t worry. As long as you put in effort, you’ll be able to sing them. Learning to sing a few more songs is not difficult at all. After all, having more skills won’t burden you.”
Sylvia pushed her bangs aside and said, “For professional singers like you, learning a few more songs is nothing.”
It was no wonder that Hillary and these two were a popular group. They didn’t act arrogant or look down on Sylvia as an amateur.
On the contrary, they had been discussing music knowledge with Sylvia for quite some time.
Sylvia felt that she had gained a lot from their interactions.
She looked at the time and prepared to leave. “It’s already past five in the afternoon. I should have invited you two for dinner, but when I entered the TV station today, I happened to run into an acquaintance and made plans to have dinner with him.”
“You’re being too polite. We should be treating you to dinner. We should have thanked you in person for creating such a buzz for us.” Abbigail’s laughter was hearty, just like her singing voice.
“Then let’s have dinner tomorrow night. I’ll treat you both.” Sylvia reached out and shook Abbigail’s hand again. “Thank you for teaching me so much about music.”
Abbigail had a good impression of her. Compared to many young people in the industry who were restless, Sylvia’s patient and serious attitude was truly rare. “We’ll treat you. Stanley can sing those ‘YOYOYO’ lines since he’s paid more! Let’s meet tomorrow night.”
Stanley couldn’t accept it and said, “Hey, Abbigail, without my ‘YOYOYO’ lines to set it off, would your singing sound good?”
Sylvia couldn’t help but laugh. She looked beautiful when she laughed, making people feel refreshed and comfortable.
“Okay then, you treat us.”
After saying that, she left the TV station with Brock.
As they walked out of the rehearsal room, the door of the next room was also opened.
A young girl walked out from inside with five or six assistants surrounding her – some fanning her, some holding water cups for her, some holding snacks…
It seemed like she was being adored by everyone.
The girl was wearing high heels and a short skirt that barely covered her hips, revealing a pair of fair and beautiful legs. Even so, her height was only on par with Sylvia’s.
She disdainfully glanced at Sylvia. Sylvia was wearing a white top with black jeans and a pair of flat white shoes. Even without any makeup on, she still looked stunningly beautiful. Just standing at the door attracted everyone’s attention.
The girl with heavy makeup on her face showed an arrogant expression and secretly envied Sylvia’s beauty. “Who is this? She doesn’t even have any makeup on? She looks decent.”
One of her assistants quickly stepped forward and whispered something in her ear.
“Oh, so it’s her!” The girl walked towards Sylvia in her high heels and brushed past her. “Anyone can be on TV these days… Can she even sing? It’s ridiculous! I hope I don’t end up in the same group as her!”
Brock frowned and wanted to confront her, but Sylvia stopped him. “Didn’t you say not to pay attention to her? She’s just a small-time star. It would be beneath me to bother with her.”
Because… she wanted to trample Jordyn underfoot during the PK competition. That would be truly satisfying.
Isn’t that right?
“This girl is so arrogant and looks down on everyone.” Brock sounded displeased and indignant. “She’s just a small star relying on wealthy patrons. She actually thinks she’s a big shot in the industry.”
A hint of sternness appeared in Sylvia’s eyes. “Compared to her work attitude and character, Hillary is light-years ahead of her. This little star will always be stuck relying on others.”
Sylvia said as she glanced at the time. It was almost six o’clock already. “Let’s go; let’s not keep Mr. Fox waiting.”
Brock hesitated, “Can I come too?”
Dining with someone like Donald? He was just a small director; wasn’t he unworthy?
Sylvia glanced at him and said, “You’re my friend. When I invited him to dinner today, you were present too. Why can’t you come? Does he have three heads and six arms? Or can he fly over walls?”
In her eyes, all these friends were equal.
There was no distinction.
“Alright then.” Brock suddenly felt that he had underestimated himself.
Golden Restaurant under Maskelyne Group was famous for its upscale dining experience. The Golden Restaurant had branches not only in Larro but also in Urgford and other major cities.
When Sylvia arrived at Golden Restaurant, Donald was already sitting comfortably in the private room.
Seeing her enter with Brock, he stood up. “Miss Andrews, please have a seat.”
“Just call me Sylvia; no need to be so formal.” Sylvia sat down next to Donald and couldn’t wait to speak up. “Hold out your hand; let me check your pulse.”
Donald smiled kindly, “I’m not in a rush as a patient; it seems like you’re the one in a hurry.”
Even so, he extended his left arm.
Sylvia placed her fingers on his pulse for about three or four minutes before slowly retracting her hand. “Your body is extremely weak! Have you been injured recently or seriously ill?”
“No, neither of those. It’s probably because I’ve been working too hard and exhausting myself too much; my body has become depleted.” Donald retracted his hand and his eyes revealed a hint of sadness. “I’m getting older too, but my children are always causing me worry. Now I’m even worried about whether my vast family business can be handled by my daughter if it’s passed down to her.”
“You’re just overthinking; your body is severely depleted as well.” Sylvia said as she sent a prescription to Donald’s phone. “You should follow this prescription to get your medication and follow the instructions on how to take it. After drinking it for some time, your body will recover somewhat. Resting properly is still the most important thing.”
“How can I possibly rest?” Donald shook his head. “My younger brother is unreliable; he still hasn’t gotten married yet. Lara is impatient and unstable.”
Sylvia couldn’t help but console him insincerely and said, “You don’t need to worry too much; I think Lara has some flaws in her character but she is still quite outstanding.”
“I know what kind of person she is; I’m well aware.” Donald shook his head and smiled. “Let’s not talk about them anymore. I know this friend of yours; I’ve heard that you two make a good team. Sylvia, when will ‘Princess Sharon’ start filming? I’d like to invest in it.”
“The script for ‘Princess Sharon’ hasn’t been finalized yet. Once it is ready, we will start casting before filming begins. If you want to invest, you can discuss it with Brock.”
Donald nodded; his gaze fell on Brock. “Brock, what do you think of me as an investor? I have high hopes for ‘Princess Sharon’; I believe it will be a hit.”
