Chapter 1228

“Take a look at this,” Franklin said in a low voice, looking at Tristan. Jax, standing behind him, immediately stepped forward and handed Tristan the transaction records that suddenly appeared in the influencer’s account, showing an additional one million dollars.
Tristan glanced at the records, his eyes filled with a dangerous meaning. “Just one million. What does that prove? Can this be considered evidence? Don’t underestimate small-time influencers like her. She might have earned it from livestreaming and product endorsements.”
“She only has around three hundred thousand followers. It’s far-fetched to earn one million from a single livestream,” Franklin narrowed his eyes slightly, his tone containing a hint of mockery.
Tristan gritted his teeth, the anger in his eyes burning even hotter. “Franklin, this is not evidence. It has nothing to do with my sister.”
Franklin remained expressionless. “Your sister is quite clever. She didn’t use her own account to transfer the money to this influencer. But… she used someone else’s account.”
Only then did Jax present another piece of evidence, a transaction from Jocelyn to her bodyguard, who then transferred the money to her mother, who in turn transferred it to the influencer.
“A chain of transactions,” Franklin said with a hint of amusement, sending shivers down everyone’s spines. “She probably thought that once we traced it back to a middle-aged woman’s bank account, we would stop investigating. However… we followed the trail and quickly discovered that the one million dollars came from her dormant bank account.”
Ever since Sylvia was subjected to various rumors and insults, he had been investigating.
These people dared to harm Sylvia, they were truly asking for trouble!
Tristan’s body trembled, but he managed to steady himself. His face burned with pain. Damn it!
How could Jocelyn be so foolish?
She actually got caught by Franklin with evidence.
Meanwhile, upon hearing that Franklin had captured Jocelyn and arrived at the main hall, other members of the Sweeney family rushed over.
From a distance, they could hear Madam shouting, “This is an outrage! My Jocelyn is not that kind of person. She has a good heart. How could she do something to harm Miss Andrews?”
Behind Madam was Marcelo, Tristan’s twin brother.
He had the same face as Tristan, but his complexion was so dark it seemed like water could drip from it.
As soon as they entered, Marcelo aimed his gun at Franklin’s forehead. “You dare to kidnap my sister? Die!”
His tone was calm and indifferent, exuding a chilling aura.
Compared to Tristan’s smiling face, he was as gloomy as a rat crawling out of a cellar.
Despite his good looks, there was always a sinister air about him.
Franklin swiftly moved forward with an eerie speed, grabbing Marcelo’s gun with a smooth motion. Before anyone could blink, the gun was shoved into Marcelo’s mouth.
“So this is how the Sweeney family operates?” Franklin’s expression was cold and ruthless, leaving no doubt that he would pull the trigger without hesitation.
With the gun in his mouth, Marcelo’s mind began to conjure up terrifying images of being shot in the head.
Madam was terrified and shouted, “Mr. Maskelyne, let go! I’ll call the police right now! I’ll call Ms. Hogan! Tristan, inform your father! Hurry!”
Meanwhile, Tristan saw a vase nearby and rushed towards it, lifting it up and aiming for Franklin’s head.
With a cold gaze, Franklin effortlessly blocked the attack with his free hand. The vase shattered into pieces, and Tristan was sent flying with a kick.
Tristan’s cry echoed through the air as he fell to the floor, trembling uncontrollably.
But Franklin remained cold and merciless. “Jocelyn bullied my wife. I have evidence. If the Sweeney family doesn’t apologize to my wife, this will be your fate.”
Hearing the commotion, the Sweeney family’s bodyguards quickly rushed into the hall, surrounding Franklin and his companions.
Madam cried out in distress, “Let go! Let go! Franklin, I’ll do anything for you! Don’t think you can bully our Sweeney family just because your father is the president.”
She kept babbling but didn’t make any actual moves.
Marcelo was still in Franklin’s grip while Jocelyn lay tied up on the ground, silently shedding tears.
Chaos ensued within the family.
Finally, someone shouted, “Old Mr. Sweeney is here!”
Franklin narrowed his eyes slightly as he saw the Sweeney family bodyguards automatically part to make way for an elderly man followed by several men. He was dressed in navy blue attire with cloud patterns embroidered on the cuffs and a string of turquoise beads on his hand.
Rumors had it that Old Mr. Sweeney was seriously ill and on his deathbed.
Therefore, on the surface, it was the Sweeney family’s twin young masters who handled their affairs.
But this didn’t look like someone on the verge of death.
The old man before them not only didn’t seem seriously ill but also appeared lively and spirited.
It was quite unexpected.
Franklin wasn’t a fool and immediately understood that the Sweeney family was hiding something.
He just didn’t know why Old Mr. Sweeney was concealing it or what he was after.
“Old Mr. Sweeney,” Franklin greeted in a deep voice, giving the old man some face as a junior.
Old Mr. Sweeney glanced at his grandchildren and felt a sudden shock in his heart.
A nameless anger surged within him. With a sneering smile, he said mockingly, “Even your father would show respect when facing me. But you… as soon as you enter my Sweeney family, you attack my grandson and even force-feed him bullets! That’s not all; you also kidnapped my granddaughter. Franklin, you truly have some nerve!”
Franklin wasn’t intimidated by his display of power and calmly put down his gun. He kicked Marcelo towards Old Mr. Sweeney and said nonchalantly, “Old man, I was just joking.”
“No! I won’t do it!” Jocelyn screamed at Franklin, tears streaming down her face. “Why should I? I won’t apologize!”
Madam slapped her across the face in anger. “Shut up! You must apologize to Sylvia! Marcelo, contact the press and have them come over!”
When Madam saw Old Mr. Sweeney approaching, she couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat. This was even scarier than Franklin showing up!
Who didn’t know what secret method Master used during his seclusion… now her daughter had caused trouble and disrupted Master’s peaceful cultivation…
She couldn’t imagine what punishment she would receive later.
But her daughter was still shouting here without any sense of propriety.
Marcelo, who rarely spoke much, contacted reporters from the press to come and interview Jocelyn while she recorded an apology video.
They were all sensible people; if Jocelyn only apologized privately, it wouldn’t resolve Sylvia’s damaged reputation.
So… this time the Sweeney family had truly lost!
The reporters from the press arrived at the Sweeney family estate within twenty or thirty minutes.
Only then was Jocelyn untied. She looked at her wrists red from being bound and her numb legs. Tears streamed down her face as she cried out in pain. Ignoring her own discomfort, she rushed towards Old Mr. Sweeney and clung to his leg. “Grandfather! I don’t want to! I really don’t want to! Look at my wrists; they’re almost bleeding!”
“Jocelyn, I haven’t been well these past years, so I haven’t really paid attention to you children. I never expected you to become so unruly,” Old Mr. Sweeney gently stroked her hair.
Just when Jocelyn thought her grandfather would compromise, Old Mr. Sweeney suddenly tightened his grip on her long hair. She was forced to look up at him in pain and screamed, “Grandfather, it hurts!”
“Good girl, listen to me. Go record an apology video and accept the interview. You must apologize sincerely to Mrs. Maskelyne!” Old Mr. Sweeney smiled kindly and spoke in a gentle tone. But his actions were extremely forceful; Jocelyn felt like her scalp was being torn off.
