“Danary is still in a meeting right now.”
I turned around at the familiar voice, only to find Benedict standing behind me with a knowing smirk.
He continued, “You were looking for her, weren’t you?”
I rolled my eyes at his unamusing antics but nodded anyway. “Liam’s class ends in an hour, and I told her I would pick her up before then.”
“I see.” He opened up the door to his office and gestured for me to enter. “She’s running about half an hour behind schedule today. Why don’t you wait in here until she’s ready?”
I raised an eyebrow in confusion but accepted his offer anyway. Sitting down in one of the free chairs in his office, I asked, “Did something go wrong? Jane isn’t usually one to run behind schedule?”
Benedict chuckled slyly as he rounded his desk. “I thought you, of all people, would know why she’s late. After all, you are the one responsible for her limping, aren’t you?”
My cheeks heated up at the insinuation, making me divert my eyes out of the embarrassment of being caught.
He continued, “You know, it wouldn’t hurt to let up a little bit. Only a blind man wouldn’t be able to see her limp from a mile away. She nearly fell out of her desk the first time she tried to stand up today. And let me just tell you that her makeup also does little to hide the marks you left around her neck.”
I pursed my lips and grumbled, “I told her that she didn’t have to go to work today, but she insisted.”
Benedict laughed. “Whatever you say, man. I’m just telling you that you really did a number on her.”
I rolled my eyes and turned my head away from him, opting to look out the glass walls of his office instead in hopes of spotting my girl earlier than later.
“Just wondering, but…” He leaned down closer to me and jokingly asked, “Is she a feisty one in bed? She always seems so put together and calm at work that it makes me wonder if she’s a screamer.”
I shoved him off the arm of my chair, making him unceremoniously drop onto the ground with a loud thud and sharp yelp.
“Hey! I was just asking. No need to be so mean!” I side-eyed him before looking away again.
Jane was quite vocal in bed. Her gasps whenever I went too deep. Her soft delectable moans every time I hit her sweet spot. Her whines for more. Her little whimpers whenever I had to pull away for just a moment.
Just the mere thought of it sent a shock running straight down cock.
But I would never divulge such information to him. It was only for me to know about and to hear.
He pouted as he picked himself back up. “You’re supposed to be nicer after getting laid for once, not meaner.”
“Then you shouldn’t be talking about my fiancee like that.”
He huffed as he plopped down on the seat across from me. Brushing his hair back, he changed the subject and asked, “How’s the little bud doing? I heard from Danary that you got the little genius into Princeton for the next term.”
I nodded. “He starts his remote classes in two weeks. Until then, he wants to continue with the lectures that he has been taking at the city library.”
“I’m assuming he’s going to graduate from college early too…” He hummed softly as he churned over my words. “Have you thought about introducing him to the company some time soon?”
“… Only a little. He’s still young, after all, and I don’t even know if he would even want to take over my position later.”
“I suppose… But then again, I guess you can’t just randomly announce that you’re taking in someone else’s child as your heir.”
“…”
“What?”
“Well… Technically, he is also my child now. I just turned in the adoption papers this morning.”
His eyes flew wide open at the revelation. “Rafael! You’re telling me that you have a kid now?!?”
“Technically, I’ve had a kid since I started courting Jane. But yes, I do legally have a child now.” I shrugged nonchalantly as I turned my attention back to him. “What about it?”
“What do you mean what about it?!?” He pulled at his hair in frustration and exclaimed, “You’re doing life on 10x speed! I know that I used to make fun of you for never dating or interacting with women, but I never told you to get engaged and get a child in the span of 4 months!”
I rolled my eyes. “I still don’t see what the issue is. I love Jane and Liam, and both of them also love me.”
He slapped his hands against his face and groaned, “Right… I keep forgetting that you’re that kind of blunt idiot.”
I frowned at his words, not understanding what he was trying to insinuate.
But a knock came at his door before I could offer any retort.
I turned my head to look over at who was at the door. My eyes instantly softened once they landed on a familiar little figure standing nervously at the doorway.
Taking no mind to Benedict’s crumpled figure on the floor, I strode over to the door and happily opened it for Jane. Pressing a kiss to her forehead, I greeted, “Hello, my love. Did you finish your meeting already?”
She flushed ever so slightly under my touch and nodded meekly. Though she was quite talkative in the privacy of our home, she was still not comfortable with speaking freely in public, not that I minded all that much. It only made me feel special to be one of the few people who she felt was safe enough to be herself around.
Without looking back at Benedict, I called out to him, “I’m leaving now, Benedict.”
Not waiting for an answer, I gently nudged Jane out of Benedict’s office, abruptly closed the door behind me, and started making my way toward her own office. In an attempt to keep up with me, Jane nearly tripped over her own two feet, making my arms instinctively shoot out and sweep her off of her pesky feet in one swoop.
Jane flushed adorably at my action as she quickly buried her face into my chest out of embarrassment. “A-Achilles, I’m still at work…”
“So?”
“I-It’s unprofessional.” She hesitantly glanced at all the onlookers.
Brushing off her statement, I replied coyly, “I don’t see what is wrong with letting your soon-to-be husband take care of you when you’re feeling a bit weak. I mean, I ought to take responsibility for my own actions, right?”
Her cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red at my smirk, making her bury her face back into my chest with a small whine.
Kissing the top of her head, I narrowed my eyes to the side, silently sending a warning glare to all the men trying to catch a glance at my love. I possessively pulled her closer to me, hiding her even more such that her adorable expressions would only be for my eyes.
With a single glance, all the spineless cowards immediately turned away with a slight shudder running down their spines, just how I liked it.
Jane was mine as I was hers.
I had already placed a ring on her finger and thoroughly claimed her as mine with marks to show for it. They must’ve been complete idiots to think that they would still be allowed to continue to gawk at my woman like a bunch of filthy dogs.
Reaching her office door, I opened the door with my free hand and quickly ducked inside to hide my precious girl from prying eyes. My eyes softened once my little one came out of her hiding spot at the sound of the door closing.
She squirmed adorably in my arms, asking to be let down. Albeit reluctantly, I obediently followed her instructions and gently set her back down on her feet.
Taking in her outfit for the first time today, I glanced up and down her creamy, fitted turtleneck sweater that did nothing to hide my marks tucked underneath a beige v-necked dress with her usual winter fleece-lined tights and her high-rising boots that added a good inch or two to her height but doing nothing to close the gap in our height difference.
I watched as she walked, or more so hobbled, toward her desk. Her long hazelnut-colored hair was tied up into a messy bun with wavy strands sticking out. Her thick lenses rested on her little button nose. Even the way she bit onto the tip of her finger when lost in thought was tempting me in every which way.
It’s amazing that I managed to let her out of the house without pulling her back into bed, looking so delectable that I had the urge to press her up against her desk right here and right now.
“Achilles? Are you listening?”
I quickly blinked and looked up to find my little lady looking back at me with her eyebrows furrowed and her lips pressed into a thin line.
“I was saying that you should try to tone down your physical displays of affection.” She lowered her eyes back to the stack of papers that she was anxiously fiddling with. “It’s not that I don’t like it, but people might not be… happy with so much of it in the workplace…”
I frowned. That didn’t sound like something she would usually be worried about… She never had a problem with me showing my affection in public before…
“It just might not be considered appropriate… You know how-”
“Who is it?”
She looked up from her hands in a startle and stuttered, “W-What do you mean?”
I stalked toward her, making her inch back one at a time until she was pressed up against her desk, trying to look anywhere except my eyes. She was obviously hiding something from me.
I repeated my question. “Who. is. it.”
“I-I d-don’t know what y-you’re talking about. I-I was just saying that-”
“Jane. I know you’re lying to me. Either you tell me who’s been bothering you at work, or I get everyone on this floor fired.”
“B-But it’s Mr. Serman’s company. You can’t just-”
“Darling, do you really think I won’t be able to fire people just because they don’t work for me directly?”
She gulped.
Fiddling nervously with the ring on her finger, she eventually confessed, “I-It’s just some of the girls. They had a bit of a crush on you before you met me and, uh…”
Oh… So it wasn’t a guy trying to harass her at work again…
I smirked as I leaned closer to her, caging her in against her desk with my arms on either side of her. Her breath hitched as she peered up at me with her adorably round eyes.
Gently skimming my nose against the soft spot of her neck, I slyly offered, “Then, why don’t I show those pests who I already belong to right here and right now?”
She whimpered softly as I latched onto the mark I made last night. “A-Achi, t-there are p-people outside…”
Despite her words, her hands were firmly laced in my hair and pulled me down closer to her sweet spot, silently asking for me.
Trailing a series of kisses up and behind her ear, I whispered huskily, “That’s the point, love.”
She bit onto her lower lip, desperately trying to keep her moan in as my hand traveled underneath her dress and pressed up against her heat through her tights.
“Come on, love. There’s no need to be shy.”
I watched as she whimpered underneath me, unable to form any words in rebuttal as I continued to stroke the dampening spot between her legs. Her grip tightened around my arms as she wordlessly pulled me closer, pressing my hand even hard against her heat.
I chuckled softly as I gave into her urges, leaning down to press open mouth kisses along her jaw as I rubbed my finger along her clothed slit, pressing my thumb into her nub and earning the perfect gasp in return.
Right as I reached up to hook my fingers into the edge of her tights, a loud phone ring cut sharply through our panting breaths, sharply jolted Jane out of her hazy state.
Her legs instinctively snapped shut as she reflexively pushed me away from her. Her eyes darted back and forth in confusion as she pushed the hem of her dress back down.
I gently rubbed my hand over her hip and cooed softly, “It’s alright, love… It’s just the phone.”
She nodded quietly as the tension in her body slowly started to fade away.
I pulled her ringing phone out of her purse, reasoning an eyebrow at the sight of an unknown but local number. Answering the phone, I placed it on speaker and asked, “Hello? Who is this?”
“Dad? Why do you have mom’s phone?”
Jane’s eyes widened at the sound of Liam’s voice. She frantically pulled down my arm to look at clock on the phone. She exclaimed in a panic, “Oh, honey! You finished your lecture already, right?”
“Mhm, I couldn’t find you, so I asked to borrow the professor’s phone.”
Jane hurriedly hopped off her desk and started quickly packing her stuff up. She called out to Liam, “Honey, just give me ten minutes. Stay with the professor and I’ll be there soon.”
Liam’s little voice hummed in understanding. “Ok! Bye, mom! Bye, dad!”
A click signaled the end of the call as Liam hung up.
I carefully slipped it back into Jane’s bag and looked up only to find her tucking away her last few items while trying to simultaneously straighten out her clothes.
I walked over and pressed a reassuring kiss on her forehead. “Calm down, love. Liam is more than mature enough to handle himself for a few extra minutes.”
She lightly swatted my hand away and chided, “No more touching until we get home. We’re only in this situation because of you.”
Ignoring her words, I took her bag from her. I wrapped my arm around her waist and lovingly pressed a kiss against her temple, making her purse her lips in response.
She grumbled quietly, “Stop making it hard for me to stay mad at you.”
I chuckled softly and nudged her along, opening the door for her as we exited her office intertwined for all her coworkers to see. “That was my intention, love.”
Though she didn’t pull away from me, she tired her head away with an adorable little pout resting on her lips.
“Cordova boys are too handsome for their own good.”
