Sky’s POV
“You have to eat something,” I whispered in concern as I rubbed Harley’s back gently.
She was lying down on her bed in silence while I sat next to her. Glen stood next to us with a sad expression on his face.
Ever since Corinne left our pack, two days had gone by, but Harley refused to eat or talk much to any of us.
I was very concerned that I had to put the pack’s work on hold.
“Perhaps we should call Berta-I mean Mom and Dad-and inform them about everything,” Glen insisted seriously.
I quickly got up and cursed loudly.
“What now?” he asked at the top of his voice.
“We have an intruder,” I answered coldly.
“Riff, we have an intruder,” I said loudly as I walked out of the pack house.
I sighed heavily when I looked at Corinne, who was standing with her hand pressed on her hip.
“You again,” I said softly, then glanced at Riff and Sophie, who were rushing towards me.
“Tell the warriors to stand by,” I mind-linked Riff and then focused on Corinne.
“Did you seriously think I was going to easily give up on my niece because of her little tantrum?” she asked as I coldly glared at her.
“Should we just kick her out of the pack?” I asked Shadow.
“Impossible,” came his response.
“Where is my stubborn niece?” she asked.
I was about to tell her how she wasn’t coming out when I picked up her scent along with Glen’s.
“What do you want?” Harley asked immediately as she stepped out of the pack house.
“I tried explaining things and talking to you as calmly as I could, yet you wouldn’t listen or understand me,” Corinne said, seriously ignoring her question.
“But then again, you are as stubborn as your mother, so I can’t blame you,” she said simply.
“I asked you what you wanted!” Harley yelled loudly.
“Since you refused to come with me to our territories, I brought the territories with me,” she answered as I frowned.
“What exactly do you mean by that?” I asked, then held my breath when a large portal opened behind her.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” I said loudly in shock.
A group of witches with veils on had their hands spread. They looked like they were holding open the portal. But that wasn’t the surprising or shocking part. Right behind them stood a woman who resembled Harley so much. She stood in front of a lot of males and females who were dressed as warriors, and I knew by instinct that they were all dragons.
“Fuck,” Glen whispered when the woman stepped out of the portal.
She was the same height as Harley, and her hair color and eyes were exactly the same. Although she was an elderly woman, her demeanor and facial expression were scary.
She wore a golden outfit with a cloak behind her. A small silver crown was around her forehead, and in the middle of the crown was a blue diamond in the shape of a star.
She looked at us as if we were inferior until her eyes went to Harley.
She smiled softly and then walked past me. A shiver went through me, and I found myself turning to look at her.
Her aura wasn’t something to mess with. It was very powerful, and she wasn’t even doing anything. Angering her was completely out of the question.
“Daughter,” she said softly, and then moved her hand to touch her, but Harley slapped it away.
“That’s my girl,” the words just rolled out of my mouth.
I liked it when she stood her ground and refused to act like a coward.
The woman glanced at me with a glare as I shrugged.
Loud laughter startled me.
“Oh my goodness, I can’t,” Corinne said behind me as she laughed harder.
“Harley, you will leave this-” the woman trailed off on her words as she looked around.
“Be careful with the words that leave your mouth, ma’am,” I warned seriously.
“Or else what?” she asked.
“Or I will never talk to or look at you again,” Harley answered before I could say a word.
The woman sighed and then cleared her throat.
“Fine, daughter, you will leave this place and come with me to our home,” she said.
“And why should she listen to you?” Glen asked seriously.
“Because I am her queen and mother,” she answered, making me chuckle.
“You have no right over her,” I said seriously.
“Actually, I do because I gave her life. And if she doesn’t willingly come with me, I will drag her with me and burn this trash of a place to the ground,” she answered.
“You are so full of yourself, old woman. And if you think I am going to freaking move a muscle from this place or let you drag me without a fight, then you must be delusional and sick too,” Harley said seriously as her eyes changed to that of her dragon.
I moved and stood at her right side while Glen moved to her left. Sophie and Riff stood right behind us.
“Warriors,” Riff called through the mind-link.
And in just a second, they all came out from all directions.
We were clearly at a disadvantage in terms of strength, but that didn’t mean we were going to back down from war or a fight.
“Everyone, listen very carefully. Today we will fight to keep our Luna in the pack, even if it means shedding blood,” I said loudly in our pack’s mind-link. Shortly after, I heard loud agreements from the warriors and pack members.
“Do not worry, Alpha. Even those of us in town are marching toward the pack,” Veronica said through the pack’s mind-link, making me smile.
Finally, she was willing to talk and stand by our side.
“Thank you,” I whispered softly, still using our pack’s mind-link.
“Are you all crazy? Do you know that I alone can kill all of you in just a few minutes?” the woman asked loudly.
“We know, but we still won’t stand still and let you take our mate and Luna,” Glen answered, linking his hand to Harley’s as I did the same.
The woman sighed heavily and then moved her hand to her forehead.
“Corinne, I can’t do this anymore. I hate acting mean to my baby girl,” she said softly, then dropped her hand, confusing me.
Her facial expression was kind and different; even her demeanor was gentle.
“Sonya,” Corinne called loudly.
“I seriously can’t,” the woman answered and then smiled at us.
“I’m so happy and excited to meet you, Harley, and the two of you,” she said as I looked at Glen, who also looked puzzled.
“Damn it, Sonya, you had to act tough to the very end,” Corinne said at the top of her voice.
“I wanted to, but when I saw my baby girl looking sad and her mates standing by her, even if it meant their death, I couldn’t bring myself to continue,” she answered.
“I’m sorry, but what’s going on?” Riff asked seriously.
“Forgive me, my sister told me to put on an act and scare you all a little bit as revenge for my daughter being stubborn. I didn’t want to, but you know, my sister has a way of making me do things. By the way, I’m Sonya, Harley’s mother,” she said as I widened my eyes.
I could only think of one thing at that moment, and that was how insane they all were.
