“But…” Sylvia hesitated as she looked at her.
Sierra clutched tightly at her sleeve. “Miss Andrews, I know what you’re going to say. But I really want to go. Please, let me go.”
Sylvia sighed helplessly and signaled Peter to start the car.
“Be cautious and ensure your safety. Sierra, you know better than anyone how you survived. If Alex is rescued but you… what will happen to Alex then?” Sylvia reminded her.
Sierra nodded firmly. “Miss Andrews, don’t worry, I won’t be a burden.”
Sylvia said nothing more and looked out the window.
After a while, she turned back and pulled out a handgun from under the seat, hesitated for a moment, and then put it back.
“Why not take it?” Sierra asked in confusion. Wouldn’t it be safer with a gun?
Sylvia smiled sarcastically. “The kidnappers won’t let us bring guns inside. So, we’ll leave the weapons in the car for now. Once we’re inside, if I manage to get the child out, you must ensure his safety first and take him away immediately. Understood?”
Sierra’s eyes reddened again. “What about you?”
Sylvia squinted her eyes. “Don’t worry about me.”
Sierra glanced at her again and then choked out, “Okay. I promise.”
The car continued forward until it reached an abandoned factory. Seeing the factory gates made Sierra’s heart tighten.
Sylvia and Jaden got out of the car and saw several men in black guarding the factory.
Sylvia only brought Jaden and Peter with her.
The three of them walked towards the factory gates together.
As they reached the entrance, they were stopped by a fierce-looking man in black. “Who are you?”
Sylvia pointed to the black briefcases in Jaden and Peter’s hands and coldly looked at the man blocking her. “There’s a hundred million inside. I’m here to get my child.”
“You can’t go in. Give me the money!” The man in black raised his hand aggressively to grab the briefcase.
Sylvia’s demeanor turned even colder. “I need to see the child first.”
At that moment, a man with a gun slung over his shoulder walked out from inside the factory. He casually addressed Sylvia, “Only the woman can go in. The rest wait outside.”
Sylvia turned to Jaden and Peter. “Wait for me in the car.”
Jaden looked at her uneasily but said nothing. He threw the briefcase on the ground and left with Peter.
After seeing the two men leave, the man in black said to Sylvia, “Follow me.”
Sylvia followed the armed man into the abandoned factory.
Meanwhile, Jaden and Peter prepared all the weapons in the car. Sierra watched them nervously. “Jaden, what are you doing?”
Jaden looked coldly at the factory gates. “If Sylvia doesn’t come out in half an hour, we storm in!”
Sierra picked up a small handgun and held it tightly. “I’m coming too.”
They waited quietly in the car.
Half an hour passed quickly, and Sierra’s palms were sweaty.
“Five more minutes. Once time’s up, we go in!” Jaden kept his eyes on his watch.
As time approached, Peter started the car and sped towards the factory gates.
The guards at the gate immediately opened fire on them as they approached.
Bullets left deep marks on the car.
Sierra, sitting in the back seat, aimed her gun at one of the men in black as they neared the gate and fired.
It was her first time shooting someone, and though the handgun was small, the recoil left her arm numb.
Jaden then opened fire on the gate with a larger gun, catching the guards off guard.
They didn’t expect Sylvia’s people to be so aggressive and well-armed.
Jaden took down many of them quickly.
Once they were all down, Jaden told Sierra, “Stay here and wait for us. Signal if there’s trouble. Peter and I will go in.”
“But…” Sierra started to say but was cut off by Jaden. “The association needs your management. The children are waiting for you.”
He took her gun, reloaded it, and handed it back. “Take care.”
Though she had only hit two people, Sierra’s arm was still sore from the recoil.
She hadn’t expected Jaden to notice such details.
His rough hands felt warm as he handed her the gun.
After Jaden got out of the car, Sierra stayed inside.
He kicked open the gate with a loud bang but didn’t attract attention as Sylvia was already fighting inside with several men in black.
A man in a wheelchair watched from a high platform above.
Jaden shot one man after another with precision.
But more men in black kept coming, overwhelming them as they were only three.
Peter struggled to keep up despite his skills.
Seeing him falter, Jaden shouted, “Find a way out! Sylvia and I can handle this!”
Peter hid behind Jaden, panting heavily as he tried to fend off attackers with his wits.
Sylvia leaped into action, landing near Peter to help fend off attackers.
“Find where they’re keeping the child,” she whispered to him.
Peter nodded firmly. “Got it.”
Sylvia exchanged a glance with Jaden, who nodded back in understanding.
Jaden aimed at the high platform where EMPEROR sat and fired a barrage of bullets.
EMPEROR’s men retaliated fiercely as Jaden took cover behind a pillar.
The platform became chaotic as EMPEROR was wheeled away by his men.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Peter sneaked behind some machinery to search for the child.
EMPEROR glared at Sylvia. “You’re insane!”
“Who’s insane? You kidnapped my child and want us dead,” Sylvia retorted coldly as she aimed a gun at him. “You know my husband is Franklin.”
Just then, Franklin burst in with Jax and twenty men.
EMPEROR cursed under his breath. “I knew you two wouldn’t be separated.”
“Your men are all dead,” Franklin said icily. “We have no personal grudge against you.”
EMPEROR laughed maniacally. “No grudge? I’ll hunt you down in this life and the next!”
Seeing Franklin arrive, Jaden realized Sylvia had planned this all along one partner in plain sight, one in hiding.
“Hand over the child!” Sylvia demanded coldly. “We won’t pursue this further.”
“Kill Franklin, and I’ll release your child,” EMPEROR sneered. “I love watching these moral dilemmas.”
“I want both my child and husband,” Sylvia replied icily. “So you’ll be the one to die.”
“My men have your child,” EMPEROR snarled as he ordered his men to bring up a small boy.
Peter had just found a locked room when two guards arrived with keys. He hid as they roughly dragged out a two-year-old boy.
Peter’s heart ached as he prepared to ambush them but was quickly overpowered by their swift response.
