Their breaths intertwined, the man’s presence overwhelming, leaving her no room to escape.
“If you follow the path I’ve arranged, if you want to come back, in two years, no, at most one year, I can bring you back to Ylosea.”
Nelson lowered his head, gazing at her for a long time. “Callie, after all these years, you should understand me. You are more than just a lover to me. Trust me, will you?”
His tender words trapped Callie in confusion. “Living alone in a foreign country as the mistress in your marriage, you might as well kill me.”
With those words, Nelson’s grip tightened, leaving no room for retreat. He leaned down and bit her lips hard. Their lips and teeth clashed, drawing blood and filling their mouths with the taste of iron.
Nelson refused to let go.
Callie struggled fiercely, pounding his shoulders, but he remained unmoved. After a while, she finally gave up and collapsed in his arms.
“You are so cruel… always putting me in a dilemma.”
“In the assets given to you during the divorce, there’s a property and a farm in New Zealand. Everything there is arranged; you won’t have to worry. If you still want to continue with design work, Anthony will make arrangements.”
He spoke each word clearly, reminding Callie of the deal she made with Karlee.
It was so humiliating.
“As for your father, I will cooperate with Malachi to continue the search. As soon as there is news, you will be informed immediately.”
“The Oconnor Group is in predicament now, entangled with the Ellison family and on the brink of collapse. Callie, trust me, I truly have your best interests at heart.”
It was rare to hear Nelson speak so openly. He had always been cold and restrained, never sharing his plans with her. Now he was being completely honest.
Callie lowered her eyes, staring at the prayer beads on his wrist. “What about after the marriage?”
“… This marriage will last at most one year. The Oconnor Group will definitely come out of its current situation.”
“I’m asking about you and Charlotte.”
“Will you sleep with her? Will you travel with her? Will you set off fireworks with her on New Year’s? Will you make sure she has everything she needs as Mrs. Oconnor? Will you take care of her parents? Nelson, will you?”
Callie’s questions came quickly and sharply. As she asked them, memories of moments with this man flashed through her mind.
Nelson’s face showed great turmoil. He almost crushed her wrist in his grip. He wanted to answer but couldn’t find the words.
Callie forced a smile. “See, you will.”
“I won’t sleep with her.”
“How would I know if you did or didn’t?” Callie glanced at his lower abdomen. Their intimacy just now had aroused his desire.
“I know you and your desires.”
Nelson’s face darkened, his eyes cold. “Only for you.”
Callie’s palms burned, her face flushing red. “Let go of me!”
Nelson didn’t force her and released her hand but still held her waist.
“No matter what you think, Callie, I won’t let you leave me again, even if it means imprisoning you.”
His determination made Callie want to flee, but she knew that once Nelson made up his mind, there was no turning back. She took a deep breath.
“Let go first.”
He completely released her.
“Drive me around.” She suddenly said.
It was very late; dawn was approaching, and there were few cars on the road.
Nelson frowned but heard her say, “You locked the car; I can’t get out anyway. Don’t worry.”
