Chapter 662: The True Nature of Jaxon Rocco

It was clear that Kayden had been right all along. Otherwise, the fake Mr. Brooks would not have chosen to end his life at such a critical moment.
Mr. Brooks was dead. And with him, the trail of clues vanished.
Jaxon Rocco, visibly distressed, turned to Kayden and asked, “Mr. Scott, what now? Can you find out who is behind this plot against my Rocco family? Such vile tactics-shameful and despicable! If I find out who it is, I swear I’ll make them pay dearly!”
Kayden shook his head and replied, “I don’t know. That’s something you’ll have to uncover yourself. For now, let’s focus on resolving the immediate situation. If we don’t recover your ancestors’ remains, your family will continue to face calamities.”
Kayden’s words were sincere and direct, striking a chord with Jaxon Rocco.
At this point, Jaxon no longer harbored the slightest doubt about Kayden. He obeyed him without question.
By the time everything was settled and they returned to the Rocco family estate, it was almost dusk.
Jaxon Rocco hosted a grand banquet, summoning the entire Rocco family to express their gratitude to Kayden. The gathering was massive-over a hundred members of the Rocco family filled a long banquet hall.
Jaxon Rocco, deeply moved, addressed Kayden. “Mr. Scott, thank you! Without your help, my family could have been destroyed. Please allow me to bow to you.”
With that, Jaxon respectfully stood before Kayden and bent forward in a deep, ninety-degree bow. His previous disdain for Kayden had completely vanished.
This was, perhaps, Jaxon Rocco’s way of showing his newfound admiration and respect.
Kayden, seeing this, gently helped Jaxon up and said, “Mr. Rocco, there’s no need for such formalities.”
But as Kayden finished speaking, every member of the Rocco family stood up simultaneously and shouted in unison, “Thank you, Mr. Scott!”
The scene was overwhelming. While a group of over a hundred people was nothing out of the ordinary for Kayden, witnessing such a collective display of gratitude was undeniably satisfying.
“You’re too kind, Mr. Rocco,” Kayden said with a smile. “After all, I am a friend of Mrs. Rocco.”
This statement undoubtedly brought credit to Mrs. Rocco, who smiled warmly. She thought to herself, This man knows how to win people over.
“Mrs. Rocco, we were so fortunate that you brought Mr. Scott to us. Without him, our family would have been doomed!” Jaxon Rocco exclaimed.
Mrs. Rocco responded with a gracious smile, “You’re too kind. It was my duty.”
As her words concluded, everyone resumed their seats.
Among the crowd, Grant sat proudly. He turned to his cousins and said, “That man is my master! Did you see that? My master!”
One of his older female cousins teased, “Grant, your master? Does your master have a girlfriend? If not, why don’t you introduce me to him?”
Grant’s eyes darted mischievously as he grinned. “Of course he has one! He’s my master, after all. How could he possibly be without a woman?”
Grant knew well that his mother harbored feelings for Kayden. There was no way he’d introduce other women to him. If Kayden were to become his stepfather, letting his cousin pursue him would create an absurd mess.
Meanwhile, after taking his seat, Jaxon Rocco sighed deeply. “Ah, even though our family is a major household, I never would have imagined we’d fall victim to such underhanded tactics in the realm of mysticism. It’s truly beyond my expectations.”
“Mr. Scott,” Jaxon continued, “you’ve done us a tremendous favor today. If you have any requests, just say the word. As long as it’s within my power, I’ll do it-even if it means risking my life.”
Jaxon Rocco’s demeanor was drastically different now. The earlier chaos caused by the ancestral grave incident had made him frantic and erratic. Now that the problem was resolved, he had regained his composure.
Kayden smiled faintly and said, “Just fulfill the promise you made to me earlier. I don’t have any other requests.”
Jaxon laughed heartily. “Of course! I’ll deliver on that. A few hundred million-less than a billion-is nothing compared to the lives of my family members. You saved all of us!”
“Thank you,” Kayden replied calmly. “Apart from those three items, I don’t need anything else.”
Jaxon waved dismissively. “Ah, just those three items? Doesn’t that seem too stingy of my family? You’ve done us such a great favor!”
Suddenly, as if struck by an idea, Jaxon slapped his thigh. “You killed Cyrus Nightbane. That means Asher Voss will surely come after you! I have an idea-maybe I can help you in some way.”
Kayden, however, had no intention of involving the Rocco family. He preferred to handle his matters alone, not wanting his affairs to drag them into unnecessary trouble.
The Hellblazer organization was far too elusive. Who knew what their next move would be? They had the power to strip even Kayden of his authority-what chance would the Rocco family stand against them?
With this in mind, Kayden shook his head and said, “No need, Mr. Rocco. Some matters are best left alone.”
Jaxon Rocco frowned. “What? Are you looking down on me?”
“No, no!” Kayden began to explain, but Jaxon interrupted him.
“If that’s not the case, then agree to this-let’s become sworn brothers! I may be older, but I see a wisdom and depth in you, despite your youth. It would be an honor to call you my brother.”
Sworn brothers?
Jaxon Rocco was over seventy years old, yet he wanted to become sworn brothers with Kayden, a man in his mid-twenties. The age difference was staggering-Jaxon could practically be Kayden’s grandfather. Still, this was entirely in line with Jaxon Rocco’s eccentric nature.
Mrs. Rocco couldn’t help but cough softly, barely concealing her amusement. The family patriarch was certainly pushing boundaries.
“Mr. Rocco, you want to become sworn brothers with me? I don’t think that’s appropriate,” Kayden said, concerned not about the age difference but about the potential risks to Jaxon.
Jaxon’s expression shifted slightly. “Mr. Scott, are you saying you look down on me?”
“No, not at all!” Kayden quickly clarified, but Jaxon cut him off again.
“In that case, agree to my proposal! Once we’re sworn brothers, no one-not even Asher Voss-will dare trouble you. If he tries, he’ll have to answer to the Rocco family!”
Jaxon’s tone was firm and unyielding.
Kayden hesitated and said, “Mr. Rocco, that’s not what I meant. I’m not afraid of Asher Voss. In fact, I’m actively looking for him-and for an opportunity to kill him.”
Jaxon Rocco’s face froze, his heart skipping a beat. “What did you just say? You’re planning to kill Asher Voss?”
Kayden met his gaze steadily and nodded. “Yes, I am. Not just him-Hellblazer as well. I intend to settle the score with all of them.”
