Chapter 658: The Trevino Daughter, Elowen Trevino

Mrs. Rocco had no choice but to step forward and take the blame herself.
“Oh!” As Mrs. Rocco’s voice fell, a group of people approached. Among them was a woman with a mocking expression, staring at Mrs. Rocco with a faint smile that carried a sharp edge.
She looked Mrs. Rocco up and down and sneered, “I heard the rumors outside-about you keeping a boy toy. A couple of days ago, people saw you having dinner together. Then, both of you came back in the same car. And now, you’ve brought your little boy toy home!”
She continued with a smirk, “I must say, you’re bold! Keeping a boy toy is one thing, but bringing him home? And now you’re even teaming up with him to deceive the head of the family. You’re so eager to take the blame because you know the family head won’t take your money. You’re doing this so your boy toy can walk away with those three treasures for free, right?”
The woman’s voice was sharp, and her words even sharper.
This woman was Elowen Trevino, the daughter of the Trevino family from Zlando and the daughter-in-law of Jaxon Rocco. Despite being nearly fifty, Elowen looked like she was in her thirties. However, her features carried a venomous and sinister air.
By all rights, Elowen should have been the one managing the affairs of the Rocco family. In terms of qualifications, contributions to the family, background, and authority, she surpassed Savannah in every way. Yet, for reasons she couldn’t fathom, Savannah had been appointed to oversee the Rocco family’s affairs after entering the ancestral hall.
This was a heavy blow to Elowen, and she harbored deep resentment toward Savannah. However, it was the family head’s decision, and no amount of pressure from the Trevino family could change it. The family head had complete confidence in Savannah and entrusted her fully.
Now that an opportunity to strike at Mrs. Rocco had presented itself, Elowen naturally seized it without hesitation.
Hearing Elowen’s words, Mrs. Rocco turned to look at her, then smiled coldly. “Elowen, I know you’ve always been dissatisfied with me, but I won’t hold it against you. Also, stop with your petty schemes. If you have something to say, say it in front of the family head. Acting behind the scenes is unbecoming of a member of a prestigious family.”
She continued, her tone steady yet piercing, “By the way, I encountered assassins when I returned from Inassea this time. They tried to kill me and Grant. If it weren’t for Mr. Scott saving us, I’d be dead by now. After arriving at the Western Frontier, I reached out to Mr. Scott to thank him and treated him to a meal. It’s a perfectly normal gesture, but somehow it’s been twisted into me keeping a lover. I don’t know what’s going through your mind, Elowen, but I won’t tolerate baseless accusations.”
Mrs. Rocco’s words were calm and polite, but they hit with devastating force. Without accusing anyone outright, she dealt Elowen a heavy blow.
After all, as someone managing the vast Rocco family, Mrs. Rocco’s words were sharp and unyielding.
Elowen’s face darkened as she immediately retorted, “What are you implying? Are you saying those assassins were sent by me?”
Mrs. Rocco narrowed her eyes and let out a faint hum. “I didn’t say that. You admitted it yourself.”
“Enough!” Jaxon Rocco’s voice boomed, silencing both women.
Despite his erratic temperament and absentminded demeanor, Jaxon Rocco’s authority in the Rocco family was absolute. No one dared to challenge his words, as he was the head of the Scott family.
“One thing at a time,” Jaxon Rocco said firmly. “I’ll handle the ambush Savannah encountered. And we owe this man a debt of gratitude for saving her. However, the matter of the auction is of utmost importance. It concerns the reputation of the Rocco family and must be resolved first.”
Turning to Kayden, Jaxon Rocco’s gaze was stern. “Mr. Scott, I admire your courage. Coming to my family’s auction without any money and boldly purchasing items worth seventy-five billion dollars is something I’ve never seen in my lifetime. Now, tell me-how do you plan to resolve this matter?”
Mrs. Rocco stepped forward anxiously. “This is partly my responsibility. I’ll take care of it. Our family will pay. I’ll contact my father and-”
“No!” Jaxon Rocco interrupted sharply, seeming to regain his composure. “Mr. Scott is a man. Since he made this choice, he must take responsibility. He just said he has his reasons, and I want to hear them for myself.”
At this moment, Jaxon Rocco appeared calm and resolute, a stark contrast to his earlier unpredictability. This, it seemed, was the true Jaxon Rocco.
Kayden nodded and said, “I came here to seek your help, Mr. Rocco. I need the three items I purchased. If you grant me this favor today, I promise to give you a surprise in return.”
“A surprise? What kind of surprise?” Jaxon Rocco asked, his demeanor steady and composed.
Kayden replied, “I know that every three years, a young member of your family dies. You’ve experienced the pain of losing a child-gray hairs mourning black ones. This tragedy has haunted you, hasn’t it? I happen to know a bit about metaphysics and can help resolve this issue for you.”
Hearing this, Jaxon Rocco’s brow furrowed deeply, his forehead creasing like the bark of an old tree.
“What? You know about my family’s situation?” Jaxon asked, startled.
Kayden responded without hesitation, “I do. Mrs. Rocco told me. I also know that another three years are nearly up, and a young member of your family is bedridden. These events have tormented you, causing you to have nightmares. This morning, you woke up from one such nightmare and brought the children to the ancestral hall to pray.”
Jaxon Rocco’s expression shifted to one of astonishment. Everything Kayden said was true. That morning, he had indeed brought the children to the ancestral hall because of the same recurring nightmare.
Savannah knew nothing of this, yet Kayden had deduced it. His abilities were undeniable.
Before Jaxon could respond, Elowen interjected, “What nonsense! You think you can solve our family’s problems? Do you know how many experts we’ve consulted? Fifteen of them are dead! Family head, don’t listen to this fraud. He’s just trying to change the subject!”
Jaxon raised a hand to silence her and asked Kayden, “You can truly resolve this?”
Kayden replied confidently, “Yes. I have a general idea of what’s wrong with your family. But to be certain, I’ll need to examine the patient and learn more about the dreams you’ve been having.”
