Mia’s POV
The fight escalated so quickly I barely had time to process what was
happening. Xavier and Rolex had Tristan pinned, their movements sharp
and ruthless as they aimed strike after strike. Sean hovered nearby, his
fists clenched, ready to jump in at any moment.
“Stop this!” I yelled, trying to push past Nathan, who was blocking my
way with a smug expression.
“This doesn’t concern you,” Nathan said, watching the fight like it was a
show put on for his entertainment.
“It concerns me because you’re all trying to kill him!” I shoved past him,
but he caught my arm, holding me back as if I were some delicate piece
of glass.
“Let them handle it. He started this.”
“He didn’t start anything,” I snapped, jerking my arm free.
I darted toward the fight, but the chaos made it nearly impossible to get
close. Tristan was strong, holding his own against two alphas, but I could
see he was tiring. The sharpness of his movements dulled, his breathing
grew heavier, and his defenses began to falter.
“Xavier! Rolex! Enough!” I tried again, my voice breaking as fear clawed
at my chest.
They ignored me, their focus entirely on Tristan. I gasped as Xavier’s
claws elongated, striking out and slicing across Tristan’s arm. Tristan
staggered but quickly retaliated, landing a blow to Xavier’s jaw.
“You’ve done enough,” Rolex growled, slamming Tristan into the
ground. The force of it made the ground shake, and I stumbled backward.
“Stop it!” I screamed, but my voice was drowned out by the sound of
flesh hitting flesh, claws ripping, and Tristan’s pained grunts.
Then it happened. Xavier’s claws drove straight into Tristan’s chest, his
hand burying deep as blood splattered everywhere. Rolex followed, his
claws slashing across Tristan’s neck with deadly precision.
“No!” I cried, rushing forward. My heart stopped as I saw Tristan’s body
fall to the ground, blood pooling beneath him.
“Finish him,” Nathan muttered from behind me, his tone cold and
emotionless.
I dropped to my knees, tears streaming down my face as I crawled
toward Tristan. His eyes fluttered open, his breathing shallow but
defiant.
“Don’t,” he rasped, his voice barely audible. “Don’t beg them.”
I ignored him, turning to Xavier and Rolex. “Please, stop this! Don’t kill
him!”
“He’s a threat, Mia,” Xavier said, wiping the blood from his claws.
“He’s not a threat to me,” I argued, my voice trembling. “He’s my
friend.”
Rolex stepped closer, towering over me as he glared down at Tristan.
“You’re our mate. You belong to us, not him.”
I shook my head, desperation clawing at my throat. “If you let him go,
I’ll come with you. I’ll do whatever you want, just please don’t kill him.”
Tristan’s hand weakly gripped my arm. “Mia… don’t…”
“Quiet!” Xavier snapped, his gaze hard.
“I’ll come back with you,” I said again, my voice firm. “But only if you
let him live.”
Xavier and Rolex exchanged a look before stepping back.
“Fine,” Xavier said after a long pause. “But if he ever comes near you
again, we won’t hesitate.”
I turned back to Tristan, my hands trembling as I cradled his face. Tears
blurred my vision as I whispered, “I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t,” he murmured, his eyes glassy.
I bit down on my wrist, drawing blood, and pressed it to his lips before
he could protest. “Drink,” I urged, hoping my blood would help heal
him.
He hesitated but eventually obeyed, his lips parting as he drank weakly.
His wounds began to close, though slowly, and I sighed in relief.
“You’ll be okay,” I whispered, brushing his hair back.
Before I could say more, strong hands gripped my arms and dragged me
away from him.
“Let me go!” I shouted, struggling against Xavier and Rolex’s hold.
“He’s had enough of your pity,” Xavier snapped. “You’re coming home.”
“Don’t hurt him,” I begged, craning my neck to look back at Tristan.
Rolex waved at one of the guards. “Get him out of here. If he resists,
throw him out like the trash he is.”
I struggled harder, but their grips were unyielding. Tristan’s eyes locked
onto mine as the guards lifted him, his expression filled with regret and
frustration.
“I’m sorry,” I mouthed before they dragged me away completely.
The house felt colder than ever when we arrived. Xavier and Rolex finally
released me, and I stumbled forward, my knees weak.
Sean was the first to approach, his expression a mix of confusion and
anger. “What the hell happened?”
Nathan leaned casually against the wall, his arms crossed as if this was
just another game to him. “Let’s just say Mia’s little boyfriend got what
he deserved.”
His words cut through me like a blade, sharp and deliberate. I clenched
my fists, willing myself not to break down in front of him. The image of
Tristan, bloodied and struggling to stand, flashed in my mind. It was too
much.
“Shut up, Nathan,” I snapped, my voice trembling as anger and pain
warred within me.
Sean stepped forward, his gaze flicking between me and the others.
“Mia, are you okay?”
I wanted to scream. How could he ask that? How could any of them think
I was okay after what they’d just done? But I bit down the bitterness
threatening to spill over. Showing weakness now would only give them
more power.
“I’m fine,” I muttered, my voice hollow as I brushed past him. The ache
in my chest felt suffocating, but I wouldn’t let them see it. Not now.
As I made my way toward the stairs, Xavier’s hand gripped my arm,
pulling me to a stop. “We’re not done here,” he said, his hold firm but
not harsh.
I turned to face him, the fire in my chest burning brighter. “What more
do you want?”
Rolex stepped forward, his expression unreadable. “We want answers,”
he said, “Why are you so attached to Tristan? Why do you keep running
to him instead of staying here where you belong?”
His question sent a fresh wave of anguish through me. Did they really not
see it? Did they not understand how they’d driven me to seek refuge with
someone who treated me like a human being?
“Because he doesn’t treat me like property,” I spat, my voice rising as
the dam of my emotions broke. “He doesn’t try to control me or hurt me.
He treats me like a person, something none of you have ever done.”
Xavier’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t respond. For a fleeting moment, I
thought I saw something in his eyes-regret, maybe-but it wasn’t
enough.
My voice cracked as I shook my head, the tears I’d been holding back
finally spilling over. “This is pointless. Just reject me and let me go.”
