MIA’S POV
Panic clawed at my chest as the car teetered on the edge of the cliff, the gravel beneath the tires shifting with every passing second. My hands gripped the edge of the seat so tightly that my nails dug into the fabric. The world around me blurred as fear consumed me, and my mind raced with desperate thoughts.
I screamed, calling out for help. “Help me!”
But when I looked outside, my heart shattered further. None of them-Nathan, Sean, Xavier, or Rolex-made any attempt to help me. They stood a few feet away, their focus on checking themselves over, brushing dirt off their clothes and arguing among themselves.
Tears spilled down my cheeks as hopelessness set in. I was on the verge of giving up. They don’t care. They never did.
My mind spiraled as I realized the truth I’d been avoiding for so long. I was nothing to them. Just an inconvenience, a reminder of a mother they hated. If I died here, if the car slipped over the edge, would they even care? Would they mourn? No. They would probably feel relieved, happy even, that I was gone.
The car shifted again, and I closed my eyes, bracing for the inevitable. My heart pounded so loudly it drowned out everything else.
Suddenly, I felt the car lurch backward. My eyes snapped open as the vehicle moved away from the cliff’s edge, the crunch of gravel under the tires shifting from dangerous to steady.
The door was yanked open, and I stumbled out, my legs trembling so badly I could barely stand. My breaths came in sharp gasps as I looked up, trying to steady myself.
Nathan was standing in front of me, his face twisted into a smirk. He tilted his head slightly, amusement flickering in his eyes as he let out a low laugh.
“You’re still the same weak little omega,” he laughed, in this situation as he mocked me again, “Terrified of something as small as this.”
I stared at him, the weight of his mockery pressing down on me. My body trembled, not just from the fear I’d felt moments ago but from the realization of what had just happened. He did it on purpose.
The smirk on his face, the way he laughed at me-it all clicked. This wasn’t an accident. He wanted me to feel helpless, wanted to remind me of my place in their eyes.
Is this what he wants? Out of their life? They all planned this just to scare me.
I can’t take it anymore, I was done with their silly games, humilation, mocking.
I was done..
Without a second thought, I turned and started running. My legs were shaky, and every step felt like a struggle, but I pushed forward. The voices behind me grew louder as they realized what I was doing.
“Mia, stop!”
“You’re being stupid!”
“Come back here!”
I didn’t listen. I refused to stop, refused to let them humiliate me any further. The wind whipped against my face as I ran, the sound of their footsteps chasing after me only fueling my desperation.
I would rather die on the road, than to return with them.
Just as I thought I couldn’t keep going, a car pulled up beside me.
I didn’t think. I didn’t care who it was. I yanked the door open and threw myself inside, slamming it shut behind me.
“Mia,” a familiar voice said, and I turned to see Tristan staring at me, his face full of concern.
Relief washed over me, and the tears I’d been holding back spilled freely. “Tristan, please,” I begged, my voice breaking. “Don’t let them take me. I can’t go back with them. Please, help me.”
He nodded without hesitation, “You’re not going anywhere with them,” he said as the car roared to life.
I turned to look out the back window. They were still chasing me, shouting, but I couldn’t make out their words.
“Where the fuck you are going?”
“Come back or you will regret it.” They yelled as they followed the car.
“JUST FUCKING LEAVE ME ALONE. I DON’T EVER WANT TO SEE YOUR FACES.” I yelled with all my anger and emotion bursting out.
I was feeling like my emotions that were piled up since so many days, today it has burst out, my endurance has given up. I can’t bear it now.
I can’t bear the humiliation, their insults, every time getting punished for the crime being the daughter of my mother and their stepsister and their mates.
All I saw were their angry faces, their attempts to reach the car.
Tristan pressed his foot on the accelerator, and the car sped away, leaving them behind.
He glanced at me briefly, his hands steady on the wheel. “You’re safe now. I won’t let them hurt you.”
The assurity in his words broke something inside me, and the last bit of strength I had drained away. My head lolled against the seat, and the tears didn’t stop.
“They hate me,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “I can’t… I can’t take it anymore.”
“IT’S PAINING.” I cried, rubbing my chest, as my emotions were coming out.
With one hand, he rubbed my head to calm me down. I could see sympathy on his face.
Tristan’s grip on the wheel tightened, and I could see the tension in his jaw. “They won’t touch you again,” he said firmly. “I promise you, Mia. I’ll make sure of it.”
The exhaustion, the fear, the pain-it all became too much. My body felt heavy, and my vision blurred. The last thing I heard was Tristan’s voice, soft and caring.
“You won’t shed another tear because of them.” The tears for them-was it worth it?
They would be happy and enjoying it after I was away from them. That’s what they wanted and they finally got it today.
And then everything went dark.
