She didn’t believe Johnny hadn’t seen her, but he started the car and drove away.
Without a moment’s hesitation.
Tilda thought Johnny was rather heartless.
Hearing her sigh made Johnny immediately tense up.
He remembered that when Tilda said she was going to the restroom earlier, his ex-girlfriend had also gotten up and left…
Could they have met?
“Ahem, um…” Johnny licked his lips before saying dryly, “When you went to the restroom earlier-”
“I met your ex-girlfriend.” Tilda finished his sentence for him.
He knew it!
Damn! They shouldn’t have come!
“She said you were together for three years. Is that true?” Tilda recalled what the woman had said and her arrogant tone.
“Don’t listen to her nonsense! We were together before, but only for a few months. She’s one of my buddies’ cousin, so after breaking up, we’d inevitably run into each other. As a result, she still insists on acting as my girlfriend. I can’t do anything about it!”
Tilda clicked her tongue. “Don’t try to skip over the details.”
“What details?”
She leaned back in her seat and smiled, “Let me guess-you slept with her after you broke up, right? Didn’t you say you’d been avoiding her since the breakup?”
Johnny felt Tilda would be wasting her talent if she didn’t become a detective! “Did she tell you that?”
“Not entirely. It’s just that she said you were together for three years, while you say it was only a few months. That must mean you two ended up in bed again after the breakup. Then, in the woman’s eyes, this automatically means you were together for three years.”
“I was drunk that night! When I woke up and saw her, I was terrified.” This was true. Johnny had thought he’d picked up a new girl at the time. Since the bar was dimly lit that night, and they hadn’t turned on the lights at the hotel, he literally got dressed and ran as soon as he woke up!
He was already afraid she’d cling to him, and things were even messier after they spent another night together…
Afterward, he offered her money, but she wouldn’t take it, saying she’d wait for him forever. Johnny was truly scared and avoided his usual bars for a while.
Tilda tilted her head to look at him.
Johnny felt increasingly guilty under her gaze.
“I’m not lying to you, really!”
“I didn’t say you were lying. I was just thinking… when you were drunk and slept with her, you did use condoms, right?”
Johnny froze, then nodded. “Yes.”
Probably?
He should have, right?
This was his bottom line. Johnny was also afraid of diseases.
Tilda took a deep breath and closed her eyes in the passenger seat. “I’ll take a nap. Wake me when we arrive.”
“Alright.”
While waiting at the traffic light, Johnny glanced at Tilda.
He really wanted to ask if Tilda was angry or truly didn’t care.
Because Johnny couldn’t tell what she was thinking…
But then again, if she said she was angry, he’d have to comfort her. If she said she wasn’t angry and didn’t care at all, then he’d be the one getting upset.
Wouldn’t that mean she didn’t care about him?
So it was best not to ask at all.
The car pulled into the villa’s garage. Just as Johnny was about to wake Tilda, he saw his phone screen light up, showing a new message.
It was from a friend at tonight’s birthday party.
“Johnny, Caroline was looking for you earlier, saying she had something to discuss with you in person. Since your fiancee was there, I didn’t tell you.”
Caroline was Johnny’s ex-girlfriend from earlier.
