Natalia felt someone gazing at her while she was asleep in the early hours. Although she pretended to be sleeping, she heard someone barge into the room and was tempted to open her eyes. However, when Javier’s soft rose-scented perfume reached her nostrils, she resisted opening her eyes, rather she let out a loud snore to make it seem real.

Javier was sitting at the edge of the bed, patiently waiting for her to wake up, resisting the urge to wake her. Instead, he chose to wait.

As he waited, his gaze was locked on her face, and soon his once-deep frown melted as he stretched his hand to touch her hair. ‘So silly and smooth,’ he admired. He couldn’t deny the fact that Natalie’s face was flawlessly beautiful and attractive without trying too hard.

He was even more stunned to realize that this was the first time he had paid such close attention to her facial features, hair, and body. No doubt, she surpassed all the ladies he had ever come across, including celebrities and models.

Natalie struggled to remain calm and keep her eyes shut, feeling uncomfortable as his gaze pierced through her face and her eyelashes began to shake. She tried hard to keep them still, but they wouldn’t stop.

Javier noticed this immediately and quickly withdrew his hand from her hair, letting out a soft cough. The reason why he had barged into the room a while ago crossed his mind, and his face scrunched up into a deep frown.

“I know you are awake. Sit up, we need to talk,” he said as he stood up from his seat and slowly paced around the room with his hand deep in his pocket.

Natalie saw that there was no need to pretend, but she didn’t dare to face him because of what happened at the club. She was not ready to talk about it right now, as she felt that was why he was in the room.

“Natalie, sit up. We need to talk!” he snapped, already feeling pissed off by Natalie’s silence. “Get up and tell me why you cheated!” This time anger was lancing in his voice.

Natalie’s eyelashes fluttered open, as she sat up and pushed the duvet off her body. “What do you mean by cheating?” She responded, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

Javier took a deep breath, trying to calm down his nerves. Deep down he felt betrayed and cheated on, even though he had always known that everything was fake – the marriage and kisses. However, he had hoped that Natalie respected their contract marriage and had not gotten pregnant by another man. The mere thought of caring for another man’s child was driving him crazy.

He tilted his head towards her direction. “Why didn’t you tell me you had a boyfriend all this time?”He vented, pacing around the room and shoving his fingers through his hair in frustration.

Natalie’s brows furrowed as she tried to grasp what the whole fuss was about, but she became even more confused when he mentioned her having a boyfriend. How could that be?

“Why didn’t you tell me you loved him so much that you shamelessly opened your two cheap legs for him to get you pregnant.” He harshly spat.

“I wouldn’t have you insult me, Javier!” Natalie angrily sprang to her feet and yelled in his face.

“And what if I do? What will you do? That you cheaply gave yourself to a useless-”

Natalie’s hand flew through the air and landed on Javier’s chin. Her chest was rising and falling in rage. She kept wondering why he was throwing insults and calling her names, but she wouldn’t tolerate being called cheap and shameless ever again.

Javier’s palm was glued to his chin, his eyes widened in shock. The throbbing pain he felt on his chin was like a stab in the heart. He raised his blood-cold gaze and stared at her, while his other hand clenched in anger, trying hard to resist hitting a woman for the first time in his life.

“You slapped me?” He groaned, controlling his temper. “Natalie, you fucking slapped me because of another man?” His voice was laced with jealousy.

“What man are you talking about?” She yelled at the top of her voice, caring less about who might hear her. She ruffled her hair in frustration.

“The father of your fucking unborn baby!” He finally admitted, pointing at her stomach. “Fuck!”. He cursed, storming to the bed and sitting down.

Immediately, Natalie snapped her head in his direction, “Wait! What?” she exclaimed as she finally grasped the reason for his reaction. “What baby are you talking about?” she asked, stepping closer.

Javier scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Go and ask his or her dumb father.”

Natalie let out a nerve-wracking laugh and fell on the bed, still rolling in laughter. She couldn’t believe it was all because of the fake pregnancy that he was acting this way. Just the thought of the hot slap she had given him cracked her ribs even harder in laughter. She felt no remorse for her actions because if he had come to her and asked, she could’ve explained everything to him without him throwing insults and calling her all manner of names.

“It’s not funny, Natalie,” Javier muttered, already losing his cool from waiting for her explanation.

When she managed to suppress her laughter, she asked amidst laughter, “Was that why you wanted to pull down the roof?”

“Like… why would you do that amidst our contract? What will my family say about-”

“Javier, there’s no baby,” she disclosed, finally stopped laughing and sitting upright.

Javier furrowed his brow in confusion, staring at her as if she had grown horns on her head.

Natalie waited for him to say a word, but he never did, so she continued. “It all began when I was insisting that you tell me where my mother was admitted. You disclosed the hospital and left the house immediately, and at that moment, your mother walked downstairs and quickly assumed that I was pregnant.”

“What the fuck!” his jaw dropped.
