Chapter 31
Process
***
“What the heck happened with the food?” Hector commented with his forehead creased, the very moment he entered the dining area.
There was some fried fish, sauteed mixed vegetables, and fried pork meat on the table.
However, all of them couldn’t blame Hector for his shocked expression because the food seemed to be burned.
Leila bit her lower lip as she tried to stop herself from smiling. Then, she tried to hide herself a bit afar as she leaned against the wall.
Myrtle, on the other hand, instantly elbowed her husband causing the latter to look at her with confusion laced in his face.
“Stop it…” Myrtle tried to warn her husband by glaring at him.
But Hector just wouldn’t stop.
Hunter was already looking away with his face turning beet red.
“What? I am just pointing it out. Do the servant omegas help you? Did you get burned? Damn! I should have known. Don’t do kitchen works anymore and-”
Then, Hector’s eyes went to Leila.
“H-Hey… Are you okay now? Uhm, I think the food here is still a mess. Ouch!” Hector grunted when Myrtle elbowed him about his nonsense words.
Then, Myrtle smiled at her and Hunter.
“This is fine-”
“What ‘fine’ are you-”
But Hector stopped when Myrtle gave him a deadly glare.
Hunter let out a deep sigh.
“Perhaps, you can cook your own food, Hector. These… are all mine, anyway.” Hunter said coldly causing Hector to look at him, bewildered.
Then, he chuckled as if he couldn’t think rationally at that time.
“Oh, don’t be too emotional, Hunter. It is as if you cooked all of this. You don’t go to the kitchen and-”
Then, his eyes widened in shock as realization dawned on him.
“What the f*ck! You cooked! Again?! What the hell?! Is the kitchen, okay?” Hector exaggeratedly uttered.
Myrtle let out a deep sigh.
While Hunter got the food on the table. But Leila was faster than him. She held the food and sat down in the wooden chair. Myrtle followed leaving the two men standing beside the table.
“I want this…” Leila said seriously as she put some in her plate.
Hunter’s forehead creased.
“I want that, too.” Mrytle seconded her as they both smiled at each other.
Hector let out a deep sigh.
“Are you-”
“Stop talking, Hector or else…” Myrtle seriously warned him causing the latter to keep his mouth shut.
Of course, he didn’t want to make his wife angry.
Leila smiled inwardly as she took a bite at the food.
Well, it wasn’t that bad. However, it wasn’t that good either. Perhaps, soy sauce could put it up.
“I want some sauce. Would you want some, too?” She asked suggestively as she looked at Myrtle, who was sitting beside her.
Myrtle smiled at her and nodded her head in agreement.
Hunter slowly sat across her.
Then. Leila stood up to get herself some soy sauce.
“My goodness, bro. Just leave the cooking to the ladies.” Hector whispered but it was enough for her to hear.
Hunter just glared at her.
“Shut it now, Hector… I am warning you.” Myrtle murmured, too, dangerously.
Hector let out a defeated sigh.
She walked back to the dining table causing everyone to stop talking. She put down the saucer then, she looked at Hector.
“Don’t be too picky, Hector. Hunter is good at cooking now. Try putting some soy sauce.” She suggested smilingly before sitting in her chair.
However, she almost choked with her saliva when her eyes met Hunter’s intense looking eyes.
Leila swallowed hard and looked away.
But she couldn’t stop herself from blushing so hard. She cursed inside her head since she couldn’t stop the embarrassment she was feeling.
“Well, this is edible. The soy sauce is good with it.” Hector finally admitted causing her to give them a small smile.
It wasn’t that bad, really.
Leila thought that Hunter made a huge improvement from last time.
“Why did you cook anyway?” Hector suddenly asked after a short while.
Myrtle exaggeratedly cleared her throat.
Then, she gave her a meaningful smile.
And Leila almost rolled her eyes at the couple. She thought that everything was already settled. She couldn’t believe that they were still at it.
“Are you okay now?” Hunter inquired as he seriously looked at her.
This time, she was choking. She coughed hardly causing Hunter to get her some water. He even gently tapped her back to help her.
Leila blushed profusely because of mixed embarrassment and nervousness.
She swallowed the lump in her throat all she could do was to nod her head.
Hunter let out a deep sigh of relief.
“Good. Now, eat your food.” He said with his voice deep and laced with relief.
However, when she looked at the couple beside her they were already smirking at her teasingly. Her embarrassment grew and she immediately looked away.
It was an awkward moment for Leila.
She couldn’t believe that Hector and Myrtle could be this playful when they were together. She didn’t know whether she would feel offended or simply laugh at it instead.
“By the way, did you tell her that she needs to go into the process already?” Hector blurted out all of a sudden as they were already drinking mint tea.
Myrtle asked for it from the servant omega. She thought that it was a good thing after having a sumptuous meal together.
Leila looked at Hunter, confused and curious.
“What do you mean?” She asked before she looked at Hector.
Silence filled the air. However, the ambiance grew a bit more awkward and tense. Myrtle let out a deep sigh.
“Perhaps, Hunter can explain everything to you.” Myrtle said all of a sudden as she stood up and pulled her husband.
Leila looked at them with her forehead creased.
“Huh? But-”
But Myrtle glared at them causing him to stand up and bid their goodbye.
Awkwardness filled the air.
“Uh… W-What is Hector talking about?” Leila broke the silence between them when she asked that question.
Hunter looked at her then, he shook his head.
“You can think about it when you are finally okay. You are still recuperating.” He replied before he stood up.
But Leila shook her head.
“No. Just… Just tell me now. I want to know. Even Silver wants to know.” Leila spoke with pure resolve.
Hunter looked at her with confusion.
“Silver?” He inquired curiously.
Leila nodded her head.
“Y-Yes.” She replied with her cheeks turning bright pink.
Then, she swallowed hard and bowed her head down.
“It’s the name of my… inner wolf.” Leila added, embarrassed.
Hunter cleared his throat as he felt like there was something stirring inside him.
He couldn’t believe this woman… She could make him feel something odd inside him without even making an effort. And it was making him a bit flustered just telling him that she named her inner wolf with something.
Hunter let out a deep sigh as he tried to compose himself.
He shouldn’t let his emotions even his inner wolf get ahead of him.
“Well, you are not a werewolf biologically. You were turned into a werewolf by a ritual that only our family have the power to perform. It shouldn’t be but we have no choice. However…” Hunter’s words made her a bit more curious as she looked at him and listened to him intently.
But there was something in his expression that was screaming of danger. And Leila knew that it was something that she shouldn’t take for granted. And whatever it is she had to face it now. She had to do what is needed to do.
Besides, this was her life already.
“You have to undergo into a process.” Hunter said seriously.
Leila nodded her head causing Hunter to look at her with both amusement and confusion.
“I am willing to do it. I have to… Right?” Leila said trying to accept that this was her fate already.
And it was something that made Hunter bewildered for a moment.
Then, he nodded his head.
“Yes.” He replied darkly.
