** * * * Crystal’s POV * * * * *
“Crystal, is that you?”
My mind relaxed after hearing that voice. It was Blake, not Logan.
Just then the light came back on.
“Hi Blake,” I smiled. “Wait a minute, how did you know it was me in the darkness?” He chuckled and smiled slyly.
“Did you forget I am a wolf? I have enhanced senses which help me in identifying people, even in the darkness, but tell me… What are you doing here?”
“I… Lucy, she called me here. She had asked me to resume work,” I groaned
“What! Well that is good, please tell me you said yes! Logan really needs you here,” he spoke in a hurry.
“Logan needs my help? I am sure he can find anyone to help him, it doesn’t necessarily have to be me” I argued.
“No Crystal, believe me when I say that Logan can never find someone better than you in what you do, he can’t find a perfect replacement for you!”
Well those flatters got me! I couldn’t help but blush.
“I don’t think so, but anyway… I said yes. I will be resuming work on Monday,” I announced.
His face brightened up immediately. The news had gotten him excited. Blake was so different from Logan, he was always cheerful, unlike Logan who was always brooding, such a grumpy fellow!
“I am glad to hear that Crystal, I can’t wait to see you working alongside Logan”
I smiled. “You are making it sound like it’s something special” I said and laughed.
“Trust me Crystal, you working alongside the Alpha is something very special!”
“Okay, I should get going now, there’s something I need to attend to,” I said, but that was just an excuse to leave before Logan shows up.
“Alright then, enjoy the rest of your day,” he replied with one of his usual smiles.
I left the castle immediately and headed to my step parent’s house.

** * * * Three days later * * * * *
I was through with work for the day, it was 7 p. m. already. I had got caught up, replying to emails at Logan’s study room that I didn’t realize was getting late. He was the one who had brought it to my knowledge.
He walked into the room and looked surprised that I was still there, that’s when I checked the time and was surprised as well.
I had quickly rushed to Mr Noah to take my wages for the day, and right now I was outside the castle, waiting for a cab.
It’s really difficult finding a cab at this time of the day, especially in this part of California.
If I had known I would have accepted Logan’s offer to drop me off, it is just that I have been trying my best not to be too close to him lately why I work here, but that is quite difficult since I am his personal maid.

After I had waited for a long time but was unable to find a cab, I decided to go on foot. But first I need to call my step parents and inform them that I would be there late to pick Aidan since I am trekking.
Since Monday, I had been dropping Aidan at the house before coming to work.
I dialed my stepdad’s phone number but it didn’t go through so I dialed my stepmom’s and luckily it rang. She picked it at the first ring.
“Hi mum-two,” I said over the phone.
“Hey sweetheart, I was wondering why you aren’t back yet. Aidan has already fallen asleep,” she informed me.
“Oh, I am really sorry. I am unable to find a cab so I would be coming back on foot” I replied
“Oh, is that so? Alright my dear, be careful. The door is open whenever you arrive”
I don’t know if I misunderstood but it felt like my stepmom was glad to hear that I would be trekking.
Silly me! Why am I saying rubbish? I must have misunderstood, I mean what would she gain from it if I were to go on foot.
“Alright mum-two, what about Dad-two? I was trying to call him earlier but his number is not reachable”
“There is no need to be worried my dear, it must be a network issue. He is right here with me,” she replied from the other side.
“Alright then, I will see you soon!” I concluded.
I was about to hang up when her voice came in again.
“Wait Crystal, is it the regular street that you will be going through?”
Her question kinda sounded strange to me, why is she suddenly interested in which path I will take?
Oh of course, she’s just looking out for me. That must be the reason so I should stop doubting her intentions!
“Yes mum, it’s the regular way. Is there a problem?” I asked.
“No, no, no! Just wanted to know, you can hang up now and be careful!”
“Okay, I love you!”
I hung up and put the phone in my handbag, then I faced the not so long journey that awaited me.
Quickly, I took off on foot in order not to feel the distance. I got myself engrossed in thoughts. There were so many things I could think of and things to reminisce about.
I remembered on Monday when I had resumed work. Logan wasn’t expecting to see me, I guess Lucy didn’t tell him.
He was busy trying to select an outfit when I walked in unannounced and suggested one for him. He was excited to hear my voice, I guess he missed me, because there was a broad smile on his face the moment he turned and saw me standing behind him.
He had later dropped me off at college that day before going on to his office.
As for Lucy, she traveled on Monday but I heard she will be back soon. I hate to admit it but I feel jealous to know that she is Logan soon-to-be Luna.
Although it’s an arranged marriage, they are not really soulmates like most other wolf couples.

I was still lost in thought when a strong arm suddenly grabbed me from behind.
I was about to scream, but he pointed a gun at my head while holding me tight.
“If you make a noise, then I will blow your head off,” he threatened.
“What… What do you want from me?” I stuttered in fear.
“Just keep quiet and do as I say or else you will die. Now walk along!” He instructed and made me look in the direction of a hidden corner.
He made me head towards one dark side of the road.
He was going to take me there?
Who knows what he plans to do to me?
Assault me Perhaps?
My mind started racing as fear kicked into my being.
“Let her go!!” I suddenly had a manly voice command.
Who could that voice belong to?
