Book:MARRIAGE TO SECURE HIS HEIRS Published:2025-3-14

They haven’t spoken in months nor has she allowed him to see the boys if he cannot accept their twins girls then he has no right to claim Liam and Logan too, next week she’ll be six months pregnant she wonders if she’ll go into early labor like she did with the boys, at eight months she’d given birth to them. It doesn’t matter as long as they are healthy and well then the rest doesn’t matter last month she had found out their genders and it’s twin girls the doctor has said her pregnancy is coming along perfect there’s no signs of the babies being in any harm all she needs to do is take it easy and rest more. If only that was possible with the boys having to contain two active boys is taking a toll on her body she feels ten months pregnant instead of six as time goes on she’s gonna need help a full time nanny and with her salary here at the library she doubts it would be possible unless after the birth she gets two jobs.
Four months ago after visiting Sean for a few days Sage had book herself a ticket and moved to Alaska she and the boys are staying in a small town called Whittier the people here are very friendly they welcomed her with loving arms and didn’t ask questions within her first month of staying here she had gotten this job at the library she’s making sure the place is clean that all the books are in order. Miss Cooper who owns the library is really nice Sage had come here not showing as time went on her belly had began to show but still none of them probed. The reason she chose this place is because her father had brought them here for a family holiday Sage had loved the silence and privacy here although everyone knows anyone here not many people come here or know the place, the boys attend day care when she is at work weekend she’s off at least then all three of them spend time together Liam has really taken to playing outside with the snow and eating it too him and his brother love throwing each other with the snow they grew up so fast and quickly, Liam can climb out of his crib these nights then he comes and wake her up to ask about his father, she was beginning to run out of explanations to tell him.
Logan is also starting to pick up on Liam’s distress regarding their father for how long she’ll be able to keep on lying to them she has no clue. She had send the divorce papers to him but haven’t heard anything from him or his lawyers, neither has Luca called to inform her how everything is going she should call him tonight and find out she’d change her cell number too if she wants to move on it would be best to cut all ties with Bruno and whatever they had but that proves to be harder than she thought not a day goes by that she doesn’t think about him, she misses him like crazy and so badly needed to hear his voice, to touch him, hold him, kiss him and tell him how much she loves him.
It pains her to know he’s living a happy life with Lana, caressing her, stroking her belly and loving every part of her it’s torture to know he’s already moved on so easily whereas she’s mourning the end of their marriage. Sighing deeply she stood up and went back to work the boys had woken up feeling unwell Sage had called Annie the local sitter to come and watch them, she must stop by the pharmacy to get their medicine and also buy a few necessities that they need for the house. She still needs to get the leaked roofing fix in the living room she hopes it won’t rain anytime soon today is colder than usual and the weather isn’t looking so good.
“Sage dear.”Miss Cooper said interrupting her thoughts.
“Yes Miss Cooper.”She packed the last of the books and went to her.
“You can go home dear, we not busy today. Go get some rest I’ll see you on Monday morning.”
“Thank you Miss Cooper.”Sage went to fetch her coat and handbag when she returned Miss Cooper gave her her weekly check, she gets paid every Friday. “It’s too much.”Sage said giving it back.”You made a mistake.”
“You deserve it child you work hard and I appreciate it. You such a good woman Sage the man who let you slip through his fingers is an idiot.”
“Miss Cooper..”
“Don’t explain dear sometimes it’s hard to let go of the one we love.”She lifted Sage’s left hand and touched her wedding ring.”Beautiful ring. I hope you find happiness and that your love truimphants. Good night my child.”Miss Cooper turned and left Sage headed outside to her car and took off to the pharmacy.
She got everything she needed for the house the boys medication too, Jenny the cashier at the pharmacy said she’ll send her husband to come and fix the roof for her at a very reasonable price, Sage had given her the address hopefully he’ll come soon before it rains once it starts raining it can go on for days, weeks the weather here gets extremely cold. Her neighbor’s son comes and chop the wood for her each week she’s gonna have to ask him to come tomorrow she was running out of wood. Opening the front door she stepped inside and went to put the grocery bags in the kitchen.”Annie. I’m back.”She said.”I hope they didn’t give you a hard time.”She shouted while putting away the food.”Annie.” She said again when no one answered, two oranges fell out of the bag.”Oh shoot.”Bending down she picked it up.”An-…”Her voice trailed off, the two oranges she had picked up fell from her limp hands.
“Hello beautiful.”Bulls eye. Right through her heart, sweetly painful, yet painfully sweet. Sage wished she could’ve have time to find a nonchalant expression but she’s sure he has already read all her mixed emotions, surprise, happiness, yearning, hurt and anger. She didn’t expect to see him again, especially here. Now. No one knows she’s here not even Sean or any of her close friends, how did he find her. What was he doing here after so long when she’s finally find a way to go on without him. To live without him. He has no right to be here and disrupt her entire world again. Why now and like this, looking so sexy in his black designer jeans, black boot and a grey turtleneck that stretched to accommodate his big, broad chest and shoulders and those strong arms too, a hint of a day late stubble was on his cheeks making him utterly irresistible, forbidden. Those gorgeous grey eyes ran the length of her body until they stopped at her rounded belly, Sage saw pride glowing in them, then pain, regret and guilt she turned away from him and busied herself by putting away the last of the grocery.”Beautiful.”
Sage took a deep calming breath it’s been so long since she’s heard him call her that. With so much love.”What are you doing here? You have no right to be here. How did you find me. Us?”She kept her back to him looking at him hurts it brings back those painful memories when he’d rejected and denied their babies, the girls he’d wanted.”You shouldn’t be here. I told Luca I don’t want to see you.”She heard the boys came running in calling him, she turned to face them they certainly look much better and alive compared to this morning.
He knelt down to their size and took the stacking block Liam gave him, she can only assume Annie isn’t here on cue her cell rang it was Annie.”Miss Sage. I called regarding-…”
“I know Annie.”She said over her.”It’s fine, stop by tomorrow so I can pay you.”
“It’s okay Miss Sage your husband already paid me.”Husband? She looked at Bruno he must’ve told Annie that no wonder she didn’t hesitate to leave
the boys with him.
“Of course he did.”She answered, the three of them look so happy to see each other, the yearning and longing is evident on Bruno’s face.”Thank you Annie.”
“No problem.”After the call she picked up the oranges again and placed them in the fridge before something else happens and they fall again.
“Sage. I want to talk to you.”He said coming closer.
“I don’t want to talk to you, I want you to go, I want you to leave me alone. I want nothing from you or wanna hear anything from you.”A strong kick from one of the twins had her clutching her stomach, can you feel that daddy’s here my princesses’s she silently asked them.
“What’s wrong? Are you in pain.”He rushed to her side, she raised a hand to stop him from coming closer.
“Just go Bruno.”She breathed softly.
“You angry at me, you have every right to be even I’m angry at myself for not believing in you and trusting you.”There’s no mistaking the regret in his voice well it’s too late because she doesn’t care.
“I’m angry because you here, I’m angry because after so long I’ve finally found a way to live without you yet you’re here trying to ruin that. Why come back now, why stir up and disrupt my life again. Why Bruno?”
“All I came to do is talk to you, and for you to listen I promise I’ll leave after that. Please Sage.”Hearing him plead broke her defences, she gave in.
“Fine. It better be good.”She switched on the kettle to make some tea for herself she’s gonna have to make dinner for the boys.
“Do you mind if I spend some time with the boys first, I missed them and you too.”He added.”Maybe we can talk after they go to bed then we won’t get interrupted.”She only nodded and turned away from him, hearing him say he missed her too woke up her desires, it confused her. She went about preparing dinner for them not that it helped to forget his dominating presence, he took the boys and they retreated back to the living room leaving her alone. She could hear the boys happy giggles as Bruno played with them while she was cooking they haven’t been this happy in months it brought a smile to her face.
