“He isn’t himself.”Kim continued.”Looks like you not the only one who’s unhappy.”
“I don’t want to talk about Bruno Kim.”It brings back thoughts she’d rather forget. She accept there won’t ever be a future between them and if everyone keeps on talking about him then how will she move on.”Do you mind.”
“Of course not.”Kim said.”Are you still going out to dinner with him.”
They are suppose to go this Saturday but she’ll be at home she has send back the dress along with all the jewelry he had send.”No, I send all the stuff back.”
“Including that beautiful navy blue gown that had pearls beaded into it.”
“Everything Kim.”She said, all she does have is the phone and the apartment when she’d asked Mr Jensen if she can move to another apartment he had said all the rooms are taken and leased out for an entire year. Sage had even looked at other apartment blocks but unfortunately they all are too expensive and not in her pocket range, now she was stuck here. Sage looked at her boys she feels guilty everytime she looks at them Bruno’s handsome features are beginning to show more and more on their cute little faces.
“I moved in with Luca.”Kim said a while later when they were sitting in the living room enjoying a glass of wine.”Casey is staying at the house.”
“When did you move.”
“Two days ago. He bought a house and surprised me with it after the wedding we’ll move in.”
“I’m happy for you guys Kim. Love comes once and if it does we should embrace it and never let it go.”
“Maybe you should direct those words to yourself.”Kim touched her hand. “Why not give this thing between you and Bruno a chance Sage, you seem to be your happiest with him even if you don’t want to admit it. Why deny yourself a chance of happiness only because of, money, status and fame. Why deny the boys that. Why cheat them out of not knowing their father. Don’t do this Sage to yourself or the boys.”Sage stared long and hard at her friend, Kim is right she knows that the only question is will she take and listen to her sound advice.
Bruno hasn’t seen or spoken to her in days and it kills him inside not to know how she’s doing if she was okay or needed anything. Going to her apartment twice had come up empty eventually he’d heard from Kim her friend that she had went home for a few days, and with her she had taken her scent too. That jasmine scent he’d always smell early morning when coming into his office was gone, he’s afraid of calling because she might not answer his calls. He hated this distance hated not seeing her or able to hold her. They didn’t even went on their date, she’d sent the dress along with all the jewelry he’d given her back to him she’d sent it all back. He can’t focus work seems irrelevant at the moment, all his mind thinks about is her and nothing else. He’s leaving for Europe tonight and Sage wasn’t back yet he had hope to see her before going he doesn’t know when he’ll back, some business trip takes weeks and at this moment he was busy with a take over it can take a couple of weeks before everything will be finalised and taken care of.
He wants to do a background check on her but everytime something stops him, he wants to know more about her but not through a piece of paper or behind her back he wants her to tell him everything. He sighed deeply. What makes her so important to him. Why does he see himself having a future with her, all of a sudden he wants to have his own family. Build a life with her, maybe even adopting her boys as his own. He must be losing his mind for thinking such nonsense. Finding out her boys are diabetic brought about a whole set of emotions, it brought on hidden feelings he had buried, her kindness the way she cared… loved. No one knows the truth about him and Hugo’s birth, when his biological mother had killed herself the truth had been buried with her. She had rejected her own kids, denied them refused to accept them because they have diabetes, a disease that runs in their family, it’s genetic she couldn’t stand them didn’t want to raise kids that needs extra care and special attention. She tried to suffocate them but his father had caught her just in time, later on she had hung herself, when Bruno had heard the story he couldn’t believe it, didn’t want to. Finding out your own mother rejected and tried to kill you broke him, it brought certain insecurities, doubts and fears. But meeting Sage changed all that, he sees her as a ray of hope, to help him get out of this darkness to ease his pain. She fullfills him makes him forgets, he suddenly wanted nothing more than to know her, have her, marry her and start a family of his own, how will he have all that when she wants nothing to do with him, how can he convince her otherwise.
The days always drags by when one misses or longs for someone Sage thought as she prepared herself for work days later after coming back home from Tampa. The time away did nothing to ease or take away this emptiness she was feeling, all for a man she barely knew, a man her body desires like crazy, a man who was way out of her league. It doesn’t matter how much she tells herself there can never be anything between her and Bruno her ignorant heart refuses to listen instead it misses him more, craves for his presence, to hear his voice and feel his arms around her if she isn’t careful she’ll end up falling in love with a man that will never be hers. And if her missing Bruno wasn’t enough the twins have suddenly stopped breastfeeding completely, Sage wasn’t surprised because the signs had been there they haven’t been drinking like before in a while, ever since they moved here and began eating solid food, their intake of drinking milk has decreased she would just pump to make sure they have in case they’ll want it. Her breasts are paining like hell, she takes a cold shower to alleviate the pain and speed up the process of her milk drying up faster, she wears a tight sports bra to stop her breasts from producing too much milk she’d read somewhere it helps, just like dry cabbage leaves.
The boys doctor’s appointment is coming up soon and Kim’s wedding too, Sage still needs to go and look for a dress Jesse will stay with the boys until her return and Sage is glad that she won’t have to worry if they’ll have enough milk for the night or not. She would’ve taken them along but Bruno will be there if only they didn’t take their father’s features it would’ve been so easy, now she has to keep him from seeing the boys she doesn’t even know why she’s trying so hard for Bruno not to see or know about the twins, he is their father. Or could there be another reason and she’s only using the boys as an excuse to guard herself from getting hurt by a man who’ll never belong to her. Could that be it. She wondered as she went to the boys room to kiss them goodnight, she bid Jesse good night and left. When last had she been in his office, smell his masculine scent it’s been so long Sage told herself as she ran her fingers over the edge of his desk, at least in here there’s apart of him she can daydream and fantasize without being caught, she can picture them making love right here on this big desk, can picture them naked, him buried deep within her heat, his hands caressing her all over, his delicious mouth kissing every part of her naked body.
That first night in his arms had felt so good, when they had accidentally bumped into each other at the bar and his arm had snaked around her it had felt right, her being held by him had seem right. She remembers that night very well one of Gina’s friend had booked a stay here in Miami for a weekend to celebrate her birthday, Sage didn’t want to come but Gina had insisted in the end the four of them had come here the whole weekend had been about having fun and boy they did, party as if there had been no tomorrow Sage had promised herself she’d enjoy the night. She had met Bruno in a night club how they had gotten reservations in such a private exclusive club Sage still doesn’t know. She doesn’t regret going with him to his hotel room, doesn’t regret spending the entire night in his arms, he didn’t let them sleep that night the hunger and thirst had been that strong and Sage didn’t imagine that them coming together would be that explosive that she’d want more and more. She wasn’t gonna lie and say she hadn’t been disappointed to wake up alone because she had been, tremendously.
But it had only been a one night stand and that had been it, she had taken the memories of their beautiful night home with her after him she had never slept with anyone again because there had been no one who made her feel what he did and till date there still isn’t. Four months later she’d discover she was pregnant with the twins shock couldn’t describe how stunned and weak she’d felt at hearing the news, she couldn’t believe it because they had used protection, hearing the boys heartbeat had made everything real. Here she was again eighteen months later, wanting the very same man that is forbidden that will never fully be hers to claim, the father of her boys her adorable baby boys who didn’t even asked to be born. She stood and got back to work this is what will never make a man such as Bruno fall for an orphan like herself, she shouldn’t get carried away and forget her true place only because he’s the father of her twins, she came to Miami to work to provide for the boys and make sure they have everything they need and wishing and dreaming about Bruno won’t allow her to do her job. She’s grateful he wasn’t here and sad too Kim had said they’d heard from his brother he went to Europe on business and it could take weeks before he comes back but he’s assured Luca he’ll be here for his wedding. Sage wanted to see him she cannot even remember how many times she’d come close to calling him only to stop herself in the nick of time, she can’t go on like this.
