“Thank you Sage. You’ll have some explaining to do.”
“About what?”She asked confused.
“The twins. Or did you forget Bruno heard you.”
“Oh that I forgot he was there.”
“It’s not too late to tell him.”
“I know. Come on let’s head back I’m starving.”
“For food or Bruno.”Her friend asked.
“Kim please don’t start.”They smiled and went back to their table. Dinner was nice and Sage relished her meal despite Bruno’s presence she was relaxed and more like her usual self, casual conversation went around the table throughout dinner Bruno didn’t ask her anything about the twins but she knows
he was only biding his time until they were gonna be alone, not that it will happen.
She was going home with Luca and Kim being alone with him isn’t a good idea at all.”Thank you guys for dinner but I cannot stay long.”Sage said a while later.
“Why?”Bruno asked.
Sage met his eyes.”Because I can’t. Not that I have to tell you Bruno.”He flashed her an angry glare.
“Wanna dance.”She heard Luca asked Kim, she went soon the two of them were alone.
“The night is still young. Why the rush.”He said.”Or are you trying to run away from me. From what I make you feel whenever we are alone.”
“Don’t flatter yourself. There is no such thing, I just have to go home.”
“Why didn’t you tell me you had kids. Two baby boys.”
“Because it isn’t any of your business, besides I told you some worlds aren’t meant to be.”
“You think you having kids will make me want you less. Or scare me off.”
“I hope it does. Maybe you will finally leave me alone. For good.”
He smiled and she didn’t like it one bit.”Is their father present in their lives.”
“No he left long before they were born.”
“So he didn’t want kids.”He slowly sipped on his wine.
“You could say that.”
“Then he’s an idiot. A very dumb one.”
“Excuse me.”She said.
“Why would any man leave a beautiful woman such as yourself alone. He wasn’t meant for you but lucky for me, you’re available.”
“I’m not. I won’t be another one of your mistresses who will keep your bed warm temporarily. I’m not that kind of girl, that one night stand we had shouldn’t have happened I don’t even know what came over me. I’m not the type of girl who goes and sleeps with a strangers without knowing their name. It shouldn’t have happened.”She repeated again.
“What if I don’t want another mistress to keep my bed warm or another one night stand. What if I want more, something long term.”
Sage was caught of guard by his words. What did he mean.”You don’t strike me as the type of man who can do long term. Anyway I’m not looking for a man or a relationship, I have my boys and they make me happy I don’t need anything else.”
“I want you Sage.”He groaned.”And I don’t care if you have kids, I’ll take you how ever I can get you.”Sage couldn’t believe her ears.”You want me too why not see how far this lust will take us.”
“No.”Sage shook her head.”It cannot work, lust fades away and what will happen after that we’ll just go our separate ways. I know I won’t be able to cause I’ll be giving my all.”
“We both know this strong desire won’t just fade over time. It’s too powerful and you know it. You can feel it.”Sage opened her mouth to deny it but no words would come.”You can’t even deny it.”
“That won’t change the fact that I have kids. Not one but two.”
“You just using them as an excuse and you know it. What are their names.”
Without thinking she said.”Logan and Liam. Look Bruno I want you, more than I ever wanted any man before I won’t deny that but that doesn’t mean I should act on what I feel it’s impossible. You don’t know me or what I do for a living.”
“I don’t care about your background, history or what you do for a living. All I care about is you.”
“You mean having me in your bed.”She said.
“Yes and I won’t deny it.”He held out his hand to her.”Dance with me.”She did she felt so safe in his arms, his warm hand on her flesh woke her desires she can feel her body heating up, feel that low burning in the pit of her stomach.
She can feel everything about him, this strong need she has for this man scares her to death. His strong arms around her felt so right and the way their bodies moved together surprised her.”You feel it right. Do you still want to deny that we can be good together.”
“Do you really think I’m gonna sleep with you until whatever time you gonna decide to get married. Or are you planning on keeping me as a mistress.
Because let me tell you now it won’t happen.”He swiveled her around.
“Forget sleeping together.”He said.”Let’s spent time getting to know one another.”
“I agreed to have dinner with you Bruno but after this it would be best if we part ways.”
“Alright.”He agreed.”If that’s what you want.”
“It is.”Sage replied.
“But there’s no reason why we cannot be friends.”
Sage laughed softly.”Friends? Really Bruno. I don’t think it would work out.”
“Why not. Men and women can be friends, why not us.”
“Because we want each other. It’s impossible.”They stopped dancing his piercing gaze held hers that gorgeous smile spread across his face revealing even perfect white teeth. Sage stepped out of his arms.”I meant you…”
“No need to explain.”He cut over her.”I know exactly what you meant.”
“Bruno love.”They heard, next Sage saw Lana coming over to them, she clutched his arm and leaned closer to kiss his cheek, her whole body was pressed into his. Sage moved away from them and went back to their table, she bid Luca and Kim goodnight.
“Are you sure you’ll be okay.”Kim asked her, she looked and saw Bruno was still talking to Lana for some reason it hurt more than it should.
“Yes, you enjoy your night with Luca. We’ll talk tomorrow.”
“But Sage. How will get you home, let me ask Bruno to-….”
“No!”Sage pulled her back.”I already called a taxi.”She lied.”Don’t worry about me I’ll be fine.”
“Call me.”Sage nodded and gave her a hug before leaving, there was no reporters camping outside and she was glad the last thing she needed was to be bombard with questions she wouldn’t be able to answer. Taking out her cell she called a cab they asked for directions Sage looked around her, she has no idea where they are she gave them the name of the restaurant and thankfully they know the place. She has just put her cell back when she saw Bruno’s Rolls Royce pulling up, him and his girlfriend was probably leaving she quickly moved away so they won’t see her. She cannot understand why seeing him with another woman had hurt her so much, it cut deep and she has no idea why. She was about to call Jesse to let her know she was on her way when she felt a hand on her shoulder, Sage jumped dropping her cell, she turned to find Bruno standing behind her.
“Leaving without saying goodnight.”He drawled.
“Did you have to scare me like that.”She asked bending down to pick up her phone that was in pieces.”Look you made me broke my phone.”
“I’m sorry.”He said taking it out of her hand.”I’ll buy you a new one.”
