Kayden frowned once more. Mrs. Rocco had made it abundantly clear-her intentions were unmistakable. She wanted him.
Kayden was not a man who disliked women. As he held Mrs. Rocco, his natural instincts surfaced. After all, what man could resist such temptation? He had resisted Wood Faulkner’s advances before, but that was different. Wood was his subordinate, someone he had once shared life-and-death moments with. Mrs. Rocco, however, was different. She wasn’t his subordinate, nor someone he knew. On the contrary, she was an incredibly alluring woman.
When such a woman offers herself willingly, using intimacy as a bargaining chip, it was impossible for Kayden to continue resisting. Besides, this wasn’t a bad thing for him.
Now that he and Georgia were divorced, there was no reputation to protect, no guilt about betraying her. He was free to conquer other women. And here she was, already making the first move. There was no reason to refuse.
Conquering Mrs. Rocco was all gain and no loss. Not only could he learn about Hellblazer and Asher Voss, but there was also the potential for her assistance, however minor it might be.
With that thought, his hand moved downward.
Sensing Kayden’s reaction, Mrs. Rocco smiled. “So? Finally giving in? Have you decided what you’re going to do to me?”
“I’ll accept your request,” Kayden answered firmly. “But I won’t accept being your kept man.”
Mrs. Rocco abruptly pulled away from him, staring at him with a mixture of surprise and determination. She swallowed hard before saying, “After this, I guarantee you’ll change your mind about being kept.”
With that, she rose on her tiptoes and kissed him.
It wasn’t that Kayden was weak to temptation-it was that Mrs. Rocco was undeniably captivating. Especially when they were alone, her overwhelming charm was impossible to ignore.
Though he had killed countless people and was indifferent to matters of love and desire, even Kayden, in the presence of Mrs. Rocco, couldn’t help but reveal his primal instincts as a man.
At the end of the day, he was still a man.
An hour later, Mrs. Rocco lay exhausted on the large bed, while Kayden stood beside her, calm and composed, as if nothing had happened. His voice was steady as he asked, “Now, can you tell me what I need to know?”
Mrs. Rocco chuckled softly. “Sure. But first, let me ask you something-aren’t you tired? How can you still look so full of energy, like a machine?”
Kayden didn’t answer her question. He simply said, “Tell me about Hellblazer.”
“You won’t like what you hear,” Mrs. Rocco replied with a sly smile. “Let me start with Asher Voss. I’ll tell you about Hellblazer later.”
“Asher Voss is one of the three Dukes of Hellblazer. The others are Duke Wintervale and Duke Grandhaven. Asher Voss is elusive, and his three disciples are ruthless and notorious for their crimes. However, his disciples are nothing more than pawns-tools in Asher Voss’s hands.
“In recent years, Asher Voss has operated primarily in the South, where he’s been carrying out his plans. His goal is simple: to conquer the elite and the powerful.”
Kayden listened in silence, then asked after a moment, “Conquer the elite? That’s quite an ambition.”
“It’s not just ambition,” Mrs. Rocco sighed. “It’s their mission-one they’re determined to accomplish. And it’s not just Asher Voss. Duke Wintervale is already in action, too.”
“Determined to accomplish…” Kayden murmured the words, his tone cold.
Mrs. Rocco nodded. “Exactly. I don’t know what connection you have with them, but you’d be wise to stay out of Hellblazer’s business. Even the Cultivator Association and the Four Great Sects avoid interfering with them, and sometimes even cooperate. What makes you think you can stop them?”
“If I were you, I’d enjoy life and stop meddling in unnecessary troubles. Kayden, if you let me keep you, I can make your life heavenly. Why get involved in things that don’t concern you? They’ve already stripped you of your position. Why burden yourself with so much?”
Kayden stared into her eyes, his voice firm with each word. “No. As long as I live, they’ll never control Seclela. When they killed my men for no reason, I was destined to fight them to the end.”
Mrs. Rocco snorted. “I don’t understand your stubbornness. You’ve already lost your position. Do you think you alone can take on an organization as powerful as Hellblazer?”
“Let me put it this way-Hellblazer is far more powerful than you can imagine. What you’ve seen is just the tip of the iceberg, a few insignificant figures. Even Asher Voss is just an ordinary player in their ranks. They’ve existed for over two thousand years. You’re barely in your twenties. What makes you think you can defeat them?”
Kayden scoffed. “Strength. If they’re truly powerful, let them come for me. If they can’t kill me, I’ll destroy them. Two thousand years? It doesn’t matter. They killed my men. They deserve to die.”
As he spoke, his aura surged, filling the room with an overwhelming presence.
Mrs. Rocco looked at him, her expression filled with an indescribable complexity.
“Savannah, if you want to tell me more about Hellblazer, you can do so anytime. But if it endangers your life, don’t bother. I’ll find out everything eventually.”
With that, Kayden turned and walked toward the door.
“Oh, and I’ll be at the auction tomorrow.”
Mrs. Rocco watched him leave, collapsing back onto the bed. She murmured to herself, “I thought I could conquer him. Who would’ve thought that I’d be the one conquered?”
A faint smile crept across her lips before she fell into a deep sleep.
As Kayden exited the hotel, he reached the end of the hallway and overheard a familiar voice coming from one of the rooms.
“Heh, you won’t escape tonight, will you? I told you, there’s no woman I can’t have. Even if you came willingly, I prefer seeing you completely under my spell.”
“After tonight, you’ll be mine forever-a slave for life. You want me to marry you? Do you even know your place? Someone like you, thinking you’re worthy?”
