Chapter 298: Dominance

Book:Fist of Healing Published:2025-3-13

The four fierce robbers each wore different masks-a pig, a bull, a monkey, and a rabbit. Their actions were remarkably coordinated.
They each carried a black backpack, bulging with various items that glimmered through the seams.
Darnell, with his sharp eyes, caught sight of a diamond necklace hanging on the edge. Outside, people were running and the piercing sound of sirens grew closer.
“Bam! Bam! Bam!”
Then, two more bandits with dog and wolf masks appeared. They fired their shotguns continuously, forcing several nearby police cars to come to a screeching halt.
There was no doubt that these two were the rear guards.
Darnell, his face filled with frustration, held onto Kendra’s arm. “I shouldn’t have invited you for coffee.”
Kendra glared at Darnell but didn’t say anything, her attention focused on the criminals.
Six individuals with guns. They had formidable killing power and combat skills.
“Don’t even think about being a hero.”
Darnell seemed to sense Kendra’s thoughts and held onto her arm even tighter. “I don’t want to die. I haven’t even gotten married yet-”
Kendra couldn’t take it anymore. “Shut up!”
“Bang!”
The dog and wolf-masked bandits fired another shot outside, completely destroying a nearby police car. Then they swiftly retreated into the jewelry store.
It was clear to everyone that these six individuals had just robbed the jewelry store and were now being pursued by the police. There had already been a fierce battle between them, which explained the gunshots Darnell and Kendra had heard.
The six robbers had fallen into a trap, but it was the people inside the jewelry store who were in an even worse situation-they were becoming hostages.
“Bang!”
After entering the jewelry store where Darnell and Kendra were, the six robbers quickly spread out and closed the iron gates and curtains to prevent any peeks from the police or snipers.
Then they kicked back several customers who were near the edges. The six of them moved swiftly and aggressively, displaying their dominance.
“Whoosh!”
In the midst of this chaos, an unremarkable security guard suddenly made a silent move. He swung his dagger towards the pig-masked bandit’s face.
Lacking any combat skills, all he had was years of ruthlessness and proficiency. It seemed like he wanted to take down one person to change the situation in the jewelry store.
However, this highly paid security guard didn’t succeed with his strike. At the same moment as the cold light flashed, the pig-masked bandit reacted.
He exerted force with his feet, causing his shoes to create a strong friction against the ground, providing him with powerful support.
Before the dagger could fully strike down, the pig-masked bandit had already closed in on the security guard.
The pig-masked bandit swiftly struck out with his left hand like a venomous snake, landing a punch in the security guard’s armpit. His right forearm forcefully hit the opponent’s side.
A clear sound of broken ribs was followed by a forceful strike from the gun handle.
The security guard didn’t make a sound as his body fell limp to the ground.
Darnell and Kendra were shocked. They never expected the robber to be so ruthless.
The rabbit-masked thug raised his gun, intending to take out the security guard, but the pig-masked thug intervened, saying, “Forget it. He’s just doing his job.”
The rabbit-masked thug obeyed, retracting his weapon and turning to scan the crowd for suspicious individuals.
Kendra felt a flicker of admiration. At least they had some principles and weren’t just indiscriminately killing innocents.
In the store, customers instinctively panicked, with several women letting out terrified screams. “Ah-!”
Darnell seized the moment to hug Kendra tightly, feigning terror as he exclaimed, “I’m so scared, I’m so scared.”
At the same time, he slightly straightened his upper body, inadvertently glancing down at Kendra’s cleavage.
The view within was captivating, a dazzling sight of pure white that left him momentarily entranced.
Although Kendra was generally open and carefree, being embraced by a man-especially one exuding such a strong masculine presence-made her body weaken involuntarily. Her cheek accidentally brushed against Darnell’s lips.
She jolted, pushing Darnell away and scolding, “You jerk! Trying to take advantage of me? Are you looking for trouble?”
“Is that considered taking advantage?”
Darnell rubbed his cheek, clearly displeased. “You sat at the wrong table this morning and drank my cappuccino. I didn’t say anything about you taking advantage of me.”
Kendra’s cheeks turned red as she realized. “That was your coffee?”
Darnell generously waved his hand. “Forget it. It was just one cup of coffee. No need to thank me.”
Kendra felt her cheeks burning as she wished for a hole to crawl into, realizing she had just drunk the coffee of this jerk. Wasn’t that essentially an indirect kiss?
Seeing the complexity of her expression, Darnell softly reassured her, “It’s fine. I don’t mind.”
Kendra, fuming inwardly, retorted, “I care!”
Darnell looked at her in surprise. “What’s there to care about? Does your family have some tradition? Like if you drink a man’s coffee, you have to marry him?”
“Well, if that’s the case, I’d advise you to take tradition seriously. It’s a good thing and should definitely be followed,” he added.
Kendra threw a punch at him, the sound echoing…
“Bang!”
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out as the pig-masked thug raised his weapon and fired at the ceiling. “Shut up! Anyone who screams again gets shot!”
He bellowed at the crowd, “You want to live, so do we. As long as you cooperate, I guarantee you’ll all make it out alive.”
His words had a calming effect, and the dozens of hostages in the jewelry store fell silent, not daring to move.
Kendra glanced at Darnell, biting her lip as she settled into silence. There were six of them, all armed, and their combat skills were no joke. Any rash move could lead to disaster.
At least she couldn’t ensure the safety of the others.
She had considered asking Darnell to cooperate, but he was acting like a coward, trying to stay out of trouble. Kendra could only watch in frustration as events unfolded.
“We’re not here to rob you. We’re here to reclaim what’s ours,” the pig-masked robber said, crunching over the glass with a commanding presence. “We were betrayed by a traitor and ambushed by the police, and we had no choice but to hide in this jewelry store.”
“We’re not afraid of death, but we can’t die just yet. So we have to take you hostage to negotiate a way out with the police,” he continued. “Believe me, I don’t want to hurt you.”
He was tall, with a barely discernible aura of menace radiating from him. “I’m Mathias Webley. I’m not a good person, but I don’t have a thing for trampling the weak.”
“What I’m doing today will be repaid in the future when the opportunity arises. I’ll make it up to you, but for now, I hope everyone understands and cooperates.”
After he finished speaking, the over fifty people in the room settled down completely.
Darnell’s eyes brightened with interest. “This guy seems to have some skills.”
Kendra narrowed her beautiful eyes while repeating the name, “Mathias Webley… Mathias Webley? Why does that name sound so familiar?”
Then, a chill ran down her spine. “The drug lord, Mathias Webley?”
Darnell looked curious. “The drug lord? Why does that name sound so impressive? Who’s he?”
Kendra smirked, “Aren’t you the one bragging about how you know everything? How can you not know who Mathias Webley is?”
Darnell wore a proud expression. “I’m from Africa!”
