Alec’s POV:
I was awakened by a light knock at my door.
I blinked a few times, then looked at Olivia, who was sleeping soundly next to me. Although she looked peaceful while asleep, there was a red shade below her eyes from crying.
“Did we overdo it with her?” I silently asked Luther.
“Yes, you took her savagely,” he answered without hesitation.
I groaned softly, then shifted to the side and sat upright at the edge of the bed.
Who knew that our kiss could lead to sex and me marking her? All I wanted was to be closer to her than I already was. I had no idea she would encourage me to touch her more.
I stood up and went to the wardrobe, pulling it open and grabbing a clean shirt and trousers.
“I’m coming, Alpha,” I mind-linked him while I dressed up. I could tell it was him by his scent.
I walked to the door and lazily opened it.
“You should have mind-linked me, Alpha, instead of coming here,” I said once my gaze fixed on him.
“You reek of sex,” he pointed out the obvious.
“That’s because I did have sex with my mate,” I answered simply.
“Did you mark her?” he asked with a concerned expression on his face.
“Yes, why?” I asked back.
“Please tell me you told her the truth,” he said loudly.
“No, Alpha, I didn’t,” I answered honestly.
He hit his forehead with his hand, then dropped it.
“What the hell are you waiting for?” he exclaimed.
“Let me see… Nothing,” I fired back.
“You know what, there is nothing good that comes from keeping secrets. She deserves to know the truth no matter what,” he said as I glared at him.
“What exactly do you expect me to say to her, Alpha? ‘Oh, I’m sorry Olivia for not telling you the truth when we first met or talked. I’m actually a werewolf and my stepbrother is not my brother in any way, but the Alpha who I serve. Like in the books you read, werewolves are real and this place is our pack. I shift into a wolf and so does everyone here who is a werewolf. Oh, I also forgot to say how I threatened your niece, that’s why she feared me, and how I hit your so-called ex-boyfriend unconscious,'” I answered, then continued to speak.
“Oh, and do you remember Lee? He is actually a warlock who solved everything with his magic. He wiped away Micah’s fearful memories of me, that’s why she no longer fears me. Do you know how untrue that sounds? Do you think she would easily accept that?” I asked sarcastically on top of my voice.
“I guess we will have to find out now that she’s awake and staring at you in shock,” he answered with a smirk.
I quickly turned and found her looking at me with widened eyes and a dropped jaw.
“See you in my office in an hour,” he said and then walked away as I stood there with a rapidly beating heart.
“Olivia,” I called softly, then stopped when she raised her hand.
“Was what I heard true?” she asked in a low tone.
How could I not pay attention to her? All I thought was that she was too tired to wake up, which is why I spoke without a care.
“No, I was just being sarcastic,” I whispered, then frowned and clenched my fists.
“She doesn’t deserve lies from us,” Luther growled.
“Yes, it is the truth,” I answered loudly, expecting her to laugh at me or call me crazy.
She furiously pushed the sheets aside and stood up from the bed, grabbing her clothes from the floor and putting them on.
She walked into the bathroom as I stood still, not knowing what to do. When she came out, her hair was nicely done. She was about to walk past me when I grabbed her hand.
“Let go of me!” she screamed loudly, and I instantly released my grip.
“I am going back home,” she said with emphasis and walked to Micah’s room, with me quickly following.
She got on the bed and gently woke Micah up by moving to her side.
“Olivia, at least talk to me. Let me explain,” I said softly.
“I said I am going back home,” she answered firmly, as I chuckled softly.
“Home? Which home? You mean back to that abusive asshole?” I asked.
“The asshole I know is better than the asshole I don’t know,” she spat.
“Mama,” Micah whispered, then rubbed her eyes.
“Hey sweetie, go to the bathroom and brush your teeth,” she whispered as Micah sat upright and looked at me, then smiled.
“Are we going somewhere?” she asked.
“Yes,” Olivia and I answered together.
“Huh?” Micah asked.
“Honey, go and clean your teeth now,” she said as Micah wasted no time in stepping down and rushing into the bathroom.
Olivia moved and went to open the wardrobe, grabbing the new clothes I had bought for Micah.
“Don’t you think you are overreacting?” I asked as she turned and faced me with a murderous look.
“To hell with your thoughts!” she screamed as I held in a growl. I was beginning to hate her disrespect.
“Fine, I messed up. Before anything would have happened between us, I was supposed to tell you the truth. I am so sorry, please forgive me,” I said seriously.
“I can’t believe it,” she yelled, then threw the clothes down.
“Is it so fucking hard to overlook what I am? You said you had feelings for me. I thought you loved me!” I yelled back.
She angrily walked to where I was, standing in front as tears filled her eyes.
“I do not care what you are, Alec. It doesn’t matter to me if you were a vampire or a ghost. I would have still wanted to be with you. What I can’t overlook is you threatening my only family. You had no right to threaten her like that and wipe away her memories. She is just a child, a little girl!” she screamed as tears rolled down her cheeks.
I wrapped my arms around her without thinking as she tried to pull back.
“I’m really sorry, I apologize. I was wrong, please,” I said softly, then noticed how Micah was peeking in fear.
“You did that to my little girl, Alec!” she screamed as I held her tighter.
“I’m sorry, please,” I said sadly while I hoped the tingles I felt would work their magic on her.
When she stopped fighting and began sobbing, I silently sighed in relief.
I wanted us to talk before she would leave me.
“At least before you leave, please hear me out. All I’m asking for is a few minutes,” I whispered.
She pulled back and looked at me seriously.
“Fine, you only have a few hours, Alec,” she answered and then walked to the bed and sat down as Micah rushed by her side.
“Mama,” she called in a low tone.
“I’m fine,” Olivia whispered, then wiped away her tears and lifted her up, putting her on her lap.
I moved closer and knelt down on one knee, facing her.
I was going to tell her everything from my birth up to now because it was the only way she would make a proper judgment on whether to leave me or not.
