Johnson’s POV:
Is she fucking him right now? Perhaps begging him to take her back? Those thoughts invaded my mind as my wolf grew impatient with each passing minute.
The only reason I had sent her with him was because I wanted her to study the place and report back to me on time. If I was going to take Damon down, I needed to know how big his pack house was, how many warriors were guarding it, and how many of them lived in it. I also needed to know how many high ranks were with him or if he had some other supernatural beings serving him. Our plan was simple: send the bitch in and have her give us the needed information. Since she was his first mate, he definitely had a soft spot for her.
“Was it a wrong move to send the whore over there?” I asked my Beta angrily.
“I told you, didn’t I? You should have chained her to a tree. What if she gets his sympathy and help?” My wolf growled.
“Relax, Alpha. I’m sure she knows her place and who she serves. I believe and trust she will be back here in no time,” he answered.
I knew it, I was too generous with her. I should have cut off her fingers or chopped off her leg like my wolf had suggested. That way, she could not think of leaving me in any way.
“Sir, you have a phone call,” the Gamma said as he approached me.
“I’m not in the mood right now,” I spat.
“It’s from your godfather,” he answered.
I quickly went to him and grabbed the cell phone from his hand, answering it with a smile.
“Godfather,”
“Did you manage to talk to the Alpha?” He asked.
“Yes, of course,” I answered.
“And?” He asked.
“He said he will reconsider. Moreover, I sent my bitch to try and have her way with him,” I answered as he laughed softly.
“I was doubtful about her being useful on that side. I guess I was worried for nothing. Let her do her best and have him let go of my son. No matter what, you need Xiao by your side. Not only is he the best warrior in our pack, but he also knows our family’s ancient fighting techniques, which could be a disaster if he teaches them,” he said as I smiled.
“I understand, godfather. Tomorrow, when you call, good news will be all that you hear,” I answered.
“That’s my boy. I knew you could never fail me. That’s why I love you more than I do my own blood,” he said as I proudly looked at my Gamma.
“I’ll call tomorrow and check up on you. For now, son, do have some rest and relax,” he said.
“Thank you. You should do the same, godfather,” I answered, then laughed softly after the call had been disconnected.
Talking to him made me feel at ease and very cheerful.
He was who I wanted to make happy no matter what. After all, he was the one who went out of his way to make me into the man I am today. After my parents’ death, he took good care of me, and there was never a day he made me feel sad or alone.
I gave my Gamma the cell phone and went to where my Beta was standing.
“Should we go back to our cars and rest?” I asked calmly.
“No, Alpha. I don’t think that’s a good idea. If Alpha Damon’s men are still watching us from afar, then they should be reporting to him about everything they see. If we want to gain his sympathy, we are supposed to spend the night here in the cold,” he answered as I rolled my eyes, annoyed at his suggestion.
Why were we even trying to get his sympathy when it was clear we both hated each other? As we shook hands, I could feel his threatening aura, and he could feel mine.
“You stay here and get his sympathy. As for me, I will be in the car, resting and taking a sip from my liquor bottle,” I said, then frowned when I picked up Debby’s scent, which was mixed with medicine.
I turned and watched as she approached us with an elderly woman by her side, who had a suitcase in her hand and a basket in the other.
Debby, too, was carrying the same on each side of her hand.
“Well, well, well, look who has decided to come back to her mate,” I mocked when she stood a bit further away from me and bowed.
She was still in her Cloak, and that was a relief because if she took it off completely and played the victim in front of her first mate, I was sure he would have taken pity on her.
“Greetings, Alpha. I am Maggie, a healer and Alpha Damon’s confidant. When your Luna told us how you have been working hard and traveling without rest, I took it upon myself to prepare a few things for you. Also, the Alpha sent these suitcases for your assistance,” she said as I smirked.
What did she take me for, a fool?
Why would Damon go out of his way to help me?
“My Beta and Gamma will take those suitcases from you, thank you,” I played along as they moved and took the suitcases.
My Beta pulled out a black tent from the suitcase and looked at me.
“Alpha, there are two tents in here,” he said through our mind-link.
“Anything else?” I asked.
“No,” he answered.
“And in here, there are blankets,” my Gamma reported through our mind-link.
“Anything else?” I asked again.
“No,” he answered.
“Then put the tents up. It seems they want us to really spend the night here so they could keep an eye on us,” I said to them.
“Yes, Alpha,” they answered together, then began putting up the tents.
“So what’s in those baskets?” I asked curiously.
“Food,” Maggie answered.
Food. Was it poisoned? Was that it? Did he want me to die from food poisoning?
“When the tents are set up, Luna Debby will serve you, while I will serve the Beta and Gamma. But before you partake of the meal, we are both ordered to eat from the plates so you can see it’s not poisoned,” Maggie said as I smirked.
What exactly was Damon playing at? If the food wasn’t really poisoned, then what did he want from me? His hospitality was questionable.
“Alpha, we are done,” the Beta mind-linked me.
“It is done. You go in, ladies, and prepare the food,” I ordered.
They both gave a bow and walked past me.
I waited patiently for my Gamma and Beta to join me. When they did, I looked at them seriously.
“Do you think his hospitality is genuine? Because I sure as hell know it isn’t,” I said.
“Me neither,” the Gamma answered.
“I think he wants the healer to check and see if we have any weaknesses. Maybe your Luna is in on it too. How about we wait for her to leave, then ask Luna Debby? I’m sure she wouldn’t lie to you,” my Beta said.
“Good idea,” I answered, then went into the tent where I found the food served on a blanket and her kneeling close to it, facing the ground.
I sat opposite her and looked at the pie, cake, fruits, and a bottle of whiskey. Then I looked at her.
“Do you know why I sent you there?” I asked softly.
“Yes, Alpha. You wanted me to gain some information about the pack,” she answered in a low tone.
“And did you?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes,” she answered, and I smirked.
“You aren’t so useless after all,” I said, then leaned in and picked up a strawberry.
“What do you think? Is the food poisoned?” I asked my wolf.
“No, if it was, he couldn’t have asked her to taste them for us,” he answered.
I took a bite from the strawberry while looking at her carefully.
“Did he have his way with you?” I asked seriously.
His scent wasn’t on her, but the medicine scent was there. Was that his way of hiding their intimacy?
“Alpha, I’m only loyal to you because you are my mate,” she answered in a cracked voice.
“And so was he,” I pointed out, then dropped the strawberry.
“Taste them all now,” I commanded.
She nodded, then removed her cloak and grabbed the pie, taking a bite from it.
As she chewed, all I could think about was how good it would feel to force my cock into her small mouth. Last time, she had a cut and tears were running down her face, turning me on even more. But by now, I was so sure it had healed. Sadly, I couldn’t do it because Maggie was around and a few eyes were on us.
She put it down and took a bite from each of the foods, both from the left up to the right side.
“Should I taste the fruits and take a sip from the whiskey?” she asked.
I quickly moved and grabbed the bottle before she could.
“Should I, Alpha?” she asked.
“No,” I answered with a smirk, then wasted no time in opening it and taking a mouthful of the delicious heavenly content.
As I swallowed, a soft sigh escaped me.
I had no idea Alpha Damon had such an eye for great whiskey. The whiskey was an Irish whiskey, which was the most expensive whiskey in the world. Just a bottle went for $2 million, and it was worth it.
“It’s perfect,” I said as I drank more.
“I’m glad, Alpha,” Debby said as I raised my hand and moved my middle finger in a gesture.
She frowned for a second but slowly began to unbutton her blouse.
At first, she couldn’t dare to follow my gesture, but after being hit into submission, she knew what to do and how to please me.
She took it off, remaining with a bra. I was about to move to her side when I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I frowned and took another sip from the whiskey bottle.
“Alpha, are you okay?” she asked.
I sat still and took some more whiskey.
“There isn’t a thing whiskey couldn’t fix,” I muttered, then groaned.
My forehead was sweating profusely, and my breath was becoming labored.
“Alpha, take it easy on the whisky,” she said as I growled at her.
“Shut up, you dumb bitch,” I spat, then tried to move when I felt the pain worsen.
I dropped the bottle from my hand and pressed my other hand against my chest as my body trembled, and my throat felt like it was closing up. I groaned in pain as I fell to my side, choking.
Debby picked up her blouse, putting it back on as I raised my hand for help.
She stood up and looked down at me coldly.
“Help me,” I forced out the words.
“Sure,” she answered, then went to the empty basket in the corner and removed a knife from it.
I watched in horror as she approached me and knelt by my side with a smile.
“Please do something,” I begged my wolf as I coughed out blood. He was quiet, and I couldn’t feel him.
I watched as she raised the knife and pierced my stomach. Tears rolled down my face as my strength left my body, and darkness began to cloud my vision. The pain I later felt was that of a ripping knife plunging into my flesh over and over again.
