Side Story Chapter17

Book:The Dominant Alpha (Series) Published:2025-3-10

August’s POV :
Attitude my ass!.
I looked at Alpha Ian’s border angrily then at Sharon who was busy pressing her phone.
I get what the alpha meant by having her with me, but I hated it. I wanted Lexi!.
Everything was so damn fucked up. Yesterday, I could hear her mating with the twins and that only opened my eyes.
There was no way she would like me, yet I still enjoyed her company.
Why Moon Goddess, why wasn’t I mated!.
For years I perfected my skills, at least that’s what I thought. I did everything to prepare myself for my mate and that included me being kind to others and hard working.
“Are you seriously going to be on the phone even now?” I asked her seriously.
“Yes.” She answered without glancing my way.
“I hate your one word answer and so we are clear, the pack is right in front of our fucking eyes.” I pointed out getting her attention.
She frowned then cleared her throat.
We could see a few people close to the entrance looking at us. When we got closer we saw their faces clearly.
“Here goes,” I whispered, then parked the car a little further away from them.
“Let’s go,” I said nervously then came out of the car.
I looked at her and saw that she was tense with her eyes widened.
“What, are you deaf? Aren’t you coming out?” I asked seriously.
When she couldn’t respond or look at me, I shrugged.
“Suit yourself,” I whispered, then walked towards them as a man came rushing out of the pack house.
I frowned when he walked towards me seriously. By his aura and pheromones, I could tell that he was a warrior.
“Hi, I’m…” I cut my sentence short in shock when he walked past me without a word.
“What the fuck,” I whispered, then turned to look at where he was going.
He went to my car and touched the handle, slowly pulling the door open as Sharon looked at him, still in shock.
“Hey, I’m Logan,” he said with a smile, then extended his hand to her.
“And I don’t care, warrior,” she answered, then came off with a cold glare on her face.
“August, you don’t have to leave me there just because I didn’t do what you wanted me to,” she answered with a smile, confusing me as she approached me.
I looked at the warrior and noticed the deadly glare on his face.
What?
Why was he acting like that? He was like a possessive…
No. No way was he her mate.
“Sharon, what exactly are you doing?” I mind-linked her.
She stood in front of me, then grabbed my hand, linking it to hers.
“What the…”
“He’s my mate,” came her low whisper through our mind link.
I frowned deeply at her confirmation.
“Aren’t you happy? You should be thrilled to finally meet him,” I said honestly.
Deep down, I was becoming envious of knowing that he really was.
“Is this your revenge to have him beat me up out of jealousy for being a jerk to you?” I asked seriously, still using our mind link.
When I saw tears form in her eyes, I quickly touched her shoulder.
“What? What is it?” I asked in concern.
“Can’t you smell it from him?” she asked bitterly.
I sighed softly, then nodded.
I could smell it clearly, the scent of sex coming from him. He had been with someone or being held.
“Then do you want to ignore him for now?” I asked seriously as a tear rolled down her cheek.
Back at the pack, she was in high spirits. Although we had never had a decent conversation before, I saw how she was a woman of virtue who held on to each order perfectly the alpha gave. Seeing her this low and crying over a stranger made me feel annoyed.
Without warning, I grabbed her hair, tilting her head upwards, and crushed my lips against hers.
It wasn’t an act of emotion because I felt nothing for her. But it was an act of revenge towards the bastard. I wanted him to feel the very pain he was causing her.
She froze for a second in shock but closed her eyes and responded to my kiss as I did the same.
I was about to loosen my hand from her hair when I was pushed to the ground roughly.
I growled angrily as I looked at the warrior on top of me who had his fist in mid-air.
“August!” Sharon called at the top of her voice.
“I dare you, warrior,” I spat as I allowed my wolf to come through.
We weren’t as skilled as the twins, but I was still a beta, and my dominance was way above his.
He groaned loudly, then dropped his hand, standing up with labored breath.
I slowly got to my feet, ignoring the slight pain I was in.
“Just to make it clear between us, that over there is my woman, and I don’t care if she is your past lover or your mate. Touch her, you die. I’m giving you my word as a beta,” I said seriously, then looked at Sharon, who looked surprised at my words.
“Now then, Sharon, let’s meet everyone,” I said as I extended my hand forward.
I knew that it was hard to keep one’s urges to themselves, but that wasn’t a reason to sleep around! Who knew, perhaps he was already married or dating someone. I wasn’t going to let him hurt her because she was a good person who helped our pack wholeheartedly.
I smiled when she walked to me and grabbed my hand.
I was about to move my other hand on top of hers when she was pulled back and lifted up onto the man’s shoulder.
Before I could move, the warrior growled at me in warning, then marched with her inside the pack house, leaving me looking at him furiously.
His growl was that of an angry mate, but besides that, it was a clear challenge.
Me following or stopping him would only mean I was ready to fight him until one of us was dead. I wanted to stop him but not kill him. Doing that would only complicate things and piss off my alpha.
“Where is that fucker taking her?” I asked loudly.
“Probably to his room,” an Omega who stood next to a Beta responded.
“Whatever,” I said, then moved. I was about to walk past them when the Beta moved his hand to stop me.
“Hey, by now I think you have figured out that they are mates, right?. Logan can do a lot of things, but he could never treat a woman that badly, at least not in front of us. He knows Ian would have his head if he did something against her will. So let them talk, just give them some time. Please,” the Beta said as I sighed heavily.
“Fine,” I responded.
My only concern was Sharon. I had no idea if she could hold her ground well or not.
