“Alpha hold your ground, you don’t have to cross to the other side to protect Aurora!” I exclaimed for the second time.
“But she needs protection from the Alpha king.” He answered loudly.
I sighed softly then moved my hands to my hips.
“No Alpha she doesn’t. If there is anyone who needs protection here it is you.” I said seriously.
“Why is that?” Jeannie asked.
“Because the Alpha king won’t hurt Aurora even If she aims to kill him. He needs her for himself that’s why he will try to kill Alpha Ian and knock her out. Alpha you are what’s standing in his way.” I answered sincerely.
He kept quiet then sighed softly. He had a cold expression on his face and his hands were clenched in fists.
“That’s why I told you exactly what to do.” I said then looked at Lee and Chase.
“Immediately you two are alerted of his approach, I want you to begin lifting the barrier.” I instructed.
“No, that won’t be possible.” Chase responded.
“And why is that?” I asked.
“We need to lower the Alpha king in this barrier but that won’t be easy, because I’m sure he will send his men first. What we need is bait, that’s why I had suggested swapping faces of Aurora with another she-wolf.” He answered and then looked at Lee.
“I’m sure you will be able to do it Lee, what we have to find right now is a she-wolf who can stand in as bait.” He continued.
“There isn’t any….”
“I’ll do it.” Jeannie said, cutting Lee off.
“What?” Lee exclaimed on top of his voice.
“You’ve heard, I’ll do it. We need a she-wolf who can pose as bait and I’m the only she-wolf here besides Aurora. Also I am a warrior, raised and trained for such situations.” She answered.
Lee walked to her and grabbed her hand, roughly dragging her away.
“I guess they need to talk it out.” I whispered.
“Definitely, because we are talking about her life being in danger.” Felix answered with emphasis. She too wasn’t happy with her volunteering.
“So if Jeannie does take the role of Aurora as bait, she won’t go out of the barrier alone. I will be with her.” I said as they all looked at me seriously.
We all were worried about Jeannie wanting to be bait, having her go out alone was worse.
We would all regret it if something bad was to happen to her. Moreover the Alpha king would send his men to go after her while he waited patiently for them to bring her back. If I would stand with her it would be a different case, he would be forced to come for her himself because of my rank and position. I would easily take down his men.
“Are you aiming to piss us off uncle?” Felix asked furiously.
“No, just think about it. If she goes out alone, the Alpha king’s warriors will easily take her down. But with me by her side they will hold their ground to fight me, forcing the alpha king to come after her himself. Don’t forget that we need him to step into this barrier. Once he is in, Alpha Ian, you and Aurora will attack him. Your moves might be a bit predictable but that’s fine because the twins will step in to exhaust him. Their moves won’t be predictable, giving Logan the perfect time to blind him. Once his eyes are out, we can all attack at once to weaken him. The last blow Logan will land is the powder, but be warned. Once the powder is thrown, we should all move away quickly because it won’t only be toxic to him but to us as well.” I answered.
Alpha Ian sighed softly then nodded.
“I hate to admit it but his plan is flawless.” He said calmly.
“You think so too, right Felix?” He asked.
She groaned loudly then brushed her hand through her hair.
“This is torture.” She whispered then dropped her hand and looked at Alpha Ian coldly.
“It sure does sound perfect but that doesn’t mean it will be.” She answered.
“We all know that, that’s why we are going to give it our best.” Jeannie answered while she walked towards us with Lee behind her who looked very upset.
“Have the two of you come to an agreement?” I asked.
“No.” Lee answered.
When Jeanine glared at him he rubbed his forehead with his hand then nodded.
“She will take over as bait.” He answered in a low tone.
“Perfect, because we have all agreed that I will be with her outside the barrier.” I said as he looked at me in disbelief.
“For real?” He asked.
“Yes.” I answered as he sighed in relief.
“If that’s the case then Aurora, please come stand next to Jeannie.” He instructed.
She moved and did exactly as he had requested. He walked in front of them and crossed his hands pressing each on their faces.
“Close your eyes and keep calm, it won’t hurt at all.” He whispered as they did just that.
We watched as he began chanting a few words in a whisper. The wind rose and dust too that made us all cover our faces.
For a few minutes all I could do was be still. When the wind went down, I opened my eyes and noticed that the dust had settled too.
“It’s done.” He said then dropped his hands.
I was amazed at how they looked, the only difference was the sides they were standing on and their clothes.
“Are they really not the same?” Alpha Ian asked curiously.
“I hope we look different.” Aurora answered.
Although her voice was still the same, her face and body shape was that of Jeannie.
“Weird.” Felix whispered softly.
“Agreed.” I answered honestly.
“See, it wasn’t that hard to do, it was actually….” Lee cut his sentence short and turned to look past us with a pale expression on his face.
“What. What is it?” I asked in concern.
“He’s here.” Chase said loudly.
At that moment I felt my heart ache.
Why was he here now, when we were expecting him to come later.
Fuck, it was all going wrong.
