Amelia’s p. o. v
I was quietly listening to music in the car while Ian drove. I didn’t want to talk much or even look at him because it was getting hard for me. want it or not I had to leave his pack and this day was more of a farewell than anything.
I frowned then looked at him when he touched my hand linking it to his.
“Do you like music?” He asked softly.
I bit my lower lip and chewed on it lightly. The tingles and his voice were pure bliss sadly they made me feel even sadder than I already was.
“You don’t?” He asked again this time with a frown.
“No, I do love music.” I answered in a whisper then cleared my throat.
“Really?” He asked loudly.
“Yes, a lot. And as hard as it is to believe, I weigh mostly on Oldies.” I answered.
“Well, I like them too.” He said calmly.
“What of movies?” He asked.
“I never watched movies in my pack because I was mostly working and doing chores. The only free time I got, I spent it reading a few books.” I answered honestly.
He kept quiet then sighed softly.
“Would you like to watch a movie with me?” He asked.
“Um…. sure,” I answered, then looked ahead.
“Amelia, is there a place you would love to go to or something you would enjoy doing?” He asked in a low tone.
I smiled widely then shifted in my seat and faced him.
Hearing him call my name made me very happy. But something I didn’t quite understand was why he was asking me such questions. I was supposed to escort him somewhere after all it wasn’t a date.
“Amelia.” He called again, this time squeezing my hand tightly.
“I would really love to go to the beach.” I answered.
It had always been my dream to go to the beach. I read about it in books and overheard a few former pack members talk about it, just imagining how it would be, made me feel very excited.
“It seems we are in luck.” He said then made a turn.
I kept quiet and relaxed, not wanting to ask him what he meant.
“You don’t have to look or act grumpy in front of our mate.” Aurora said silently.
“I am not okay, you know that. I feel bad and sad whenever I think of how we are going to leave him behind without an explanation or proper goodbye.” I answered seriously.
“If this is our farewell, then we should make the best out of it. You should start laughing and smiling because it will be the last time that we will ever get to spend time with our mate.” She said then continued.
“Now is your chance to touch him and learn more things about him, today should be just us loving and accepting him entirely.” She whispered.
I swallowed hard then looked at Ian when the car stopped.
“We are here.” He said happily.
I quickly looked ahead and noticed the ocean flowing.
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
“I wanted to take us somewhere nice, but when you said you wanted to see the beach, I had to adjust and change a few things. You see, it’s been long since I came here, I kind of forgot how much I loved this place.” He said then moved and stepped out of the car.
I looked at my warm hand then at Ian who was walking around the car. When he opened the door for me, I happily thanked him and came out.
He closed the door behind me and stretched himself with a low groan.
“The good part is that the sun will be setting soon and we will get to see it. The bad part is that we are way too dressed for such a place.” He said with a chuckle.
I laughed softly then quickly removed my boots and threw them on the sand.
“Perfect,” I whispered while playfully moving my foot on the sand and loving the feel of it.
When I felt Ian’s heated gaze on me I quickly looked up and noticed his shocked facial expression.
“What?” I asked in a low tone.
“Nothing.” He answered, then leaned in and took off his shoes, throwing them on the sand as well.
“Now we are even.” He said playfully then grabbed my hand and began walking ahead.
I happily closed my eyes and inhaled the beautiful ocean scent as I walked behind, letting him guide me.
The breeze was a little cold but yet it felt so nice.
When I stepped on wet sand I quickly opened my eyes and looked down.
We were at shore and Ian was still walking ahead.
“What was he planning to do?” I asked myself as I continued to follow him.
I gasped softly when my feet touched the water, it was cold but that made me even more excited. I cared less about my clothes because being here was a dream come true.
When the water was at knee high he stopped walking and turned to face me.
“You know, Nana always told me this. “Whenever you go to see the Ocean view, always remember to take a knee.” He said seriously.
“A knee?” I asked in a whisper.
I was confused over his words.
“By chance does he mean to kneel?” I asked Aurora.
When she couldn’t respond I decided to ask for myself.
“Do you mean kneeling?”
He smirked then went down to his knees leaving me astonished.
I looked at the water that was around his waist then at him.
“Doing this has been in my family for generations. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, when you are with me or any member of my family you have to do the same out of respect.” He said seriously.
I looked back for a quick second and noticed that we were alone.
“Was he serious?” I asked myself then looked at him.
He was staring at me with a cold expression that was compelling me to really do it.
I took a deep breath and went down to my knees, kneeling.
“Cold,” I whispered, then tensed.
I was startled when Ian broke down in laughter.
I kept quiet trying to figure out what was so funny.
“Oh my goddess Amelia, you believed me! Jeez, it was just a joke, I was messing with you.” He said between laughter.
“What!” I exclaimed.
“It was a joke.” He said while still laughing.
Without a second thought, I splashed water on him, making him stop laughing.
“Now who’s laughing?” I asked with a smirk.
“Me.” Came his response before splashing me back.
I couldn’t help but splash him too as we laughed.
It was childish yet fun.
“I win,” I screamed and splashed him with both hands then quickly stood up from the water and ran away while laughing.
I could hear his laughter and footsteps behind me.
“You are so dead when I catch you.” His playful voice came.
“That’s if you can catch me.” I answered then picked up my pace.
I was tackled to the ground and rolled on top of him as he laughed harder. I playfully hit his chest while I laughed loudly too and tried to calm my heavy breathing.
“What was that you said about me not catching you?” He asked when our laughter had died down.
“Well, you cheated by using your alpha speed.” I pointed out playfully.
He chuckled softly then stopped and lifted his hand touching my cheek gently.
“Amelia.” He called softly as my heart beat wildly and my throat became dry.
“I think I’m in love with you.” He whispered.
Everything stopped at that moment and all I could hear was our loud beating hearts.
