The banging on the door persisted for minutes, with a trembling heart, I gradually walked to the door, luckily there was a peephole on the door, so I scanned through it,
My racing heart seized when I realized it was only the fat man from the desk, what on earth does he want now?
“Open up!” he growled again causing my Lycan Wolf to stir in irritation,
“What is it?” I questioned angrily the minute I opened the door,
I watched how he scanned inside the room intently, but I used my body to block the view of my sleeping baby,
This man smelled like trouble, and I’d appreciate being a long distance from the fucker,
“My staff tells me there has been a linkage from the room’s bathroom I’m here to check it out myself,”
“You have the wrong room, Sir, the bathroom is perfectly fine,” I argue trying to stop him from barging into my room,
“I’ll only take a look,” he grunts attempting to push through, the audacity he has, I paid for my room now I wouldn’t let this old fool have his way so I stop him again this time with a hard expression on my face,
“I paid for this room,”
His eyes darkened with rage as he observed me, but I care less,
He takes one last peep into the room but storms off in anger, a harsh whiff of air escapes my lungs the moment he leaves, I already prepared myself for a fight if he persists. My Lycan Wolf stirs inside of me, we were both ready to protect our Cub from all existing adversaries.
Ever since the fat man from the receptionist visited the room my heart has been restless, I knew I had to keep moving soon with my Father on my trail, we needed to get as far as possible.
My gaze found my little boy, a warm smile spread on my face watching him play with his favorite Wolf toy,
Daryl is only a child and deserves to live a happy life among other children, but here we are running for our lives, it has always been this way since I found out I was pregnant. A part of me blamed myself for putting this innocent child through these rough fragments of life.
My mind wandered back to the dream I had last night, I reminisced how perfect he was in my head, the white pants suiting his skin, I couldn’t help but chuckle with how my heart raced for a man I had only met once, and how I craved his touch and sweet things he’d do to me,
I couldn’t wait to see him again…… my Faith that the moon goddess would have mercy on my boy and bring us to Derick was as high as Mount Everest; I believed.
Yet, the words he said to me in my dream replayed to me in his voice, “The gift is your key, unlock it…”
What did he mean by that? Furthermore, he mentioned he was always with us, but we did not see him.
Derick spoke in riddles causing my brows to furrow and my thoughts deep confusion, I shook off the thoughts and began to rearrange our bags as I already decided that we would leave the next morning; I had a bad feeling but shook it off only hoping for the best.
No matter how many times I tried to reach Ana, the line would fail to connect, I prayed constantly she was safe and also missed her dearly, even after fleeing my Father he still searches for me.
The feel of a feather brushing my skin fondled me back to reality, my eyes shut up, and I immediately searched for my child, Daryl slept peacefully beside me and I relaxed a bit.
Checking my phone, it was past midnight, the harsh wind continuously hitting the window, it was going to rain, so I quickly wrapped my baby up covering every part of his body before wearing my hoodie as well. But the next minute I hear footsteps approaching, and then hushed voices conversing just behind my room,
My nose quickly perceived them, it was faint, but I could still smell them; if there was one thing the goddess blessed me with was a great sense of smell,
My Lycan wolf growled inside my head already pacing, they were here!
With the swiftness of my Lycan, I quickly tied my sleeping baby behind me using my large coat to cover him up,
I grabbed my bag before going down through the window, it was a one-story bungalow with lots of windows, so I was able to hold on to items of the building.
Just then a loud bluster emerged from the room, they had broken into the place,
I skillfully dropped from the building, careful not to hurt my baby, and then I ran as fast as my legs to go.
The weight of my baby slowed me down, but I never stopped running until we were blocks away from the hotel,
I left my car back at the hotel because I knew if I went back for it our enemies would catch us, so I risked losing the car than our lives.
Daryl stirs in my back and I realize he has awakened; I have to keep running because it’ll be a lot harder to fight off these Lycans with a toddler in my arms.
We managed to get as far as possible and finally made it to a farm house an hour later, my baby at this moment was crying; I knew he wanted a diaper change and with the smell it gave it was a mess down there.
“Hello, anyone here!” I call out, as we arrive on the porch of the little house on a farm,
“Hello!”
“How can I help you, young lady?” a man dressed in jeans and a long boot inquired, he was covered in mud,
“I’m sorry to bother you, but I need your help.”
Granch was the perfect example of do not judging a book by the cover, merely looking at him one would automatically get frightened of him without even conversing; yes he was that scary. Yet, he was the opposite,
“How old is he?” he questioned as he watched Daryl finish his food,
“Merely two…” my voice came out a whisper,
Granch was kind enough to offer us in, and also provide us hot water to bathe with, he simply spoke with his eyes refraining from asking what had occurred to us.
“What brings you to our town?”
I swallow hard at his question, “We are only passing through,”
He nods at me and goes out the front door, without another word.
Tears pool in my eyes watching my child, these are hard times for us…
