Macy’s POV
My heart throbbed hard in my chest as Liam and I walked back to the pack house in fast strides, What on earth might have happened? I thought. We finally arrived at the mansion, the tension in the air was so thick as we both stepped into the living room.
Dad held his sobbing mate in his arms, Derick stood in a corner with his hands folded on his chest, I stared around glancing with wide eyes.
” What is going on?” My mate speaks his face showing how confused he was too.
” Liam it’s your brother, he has intended to leave Waterfall,” Mom explained in between sobs,
Derick leaving? For what possible reason would he want to leave his hometown, the information came as a shock to me, my eyes found his, and we locked in our stares,
” Why have you made such a decision Derick?” Liam questions his brother,
” It is my conclusion to depart Waterfall Liam and my reason is apparent,” Derick mutters those words without restraints, his eyes on me as he speaks up,
My heart sank with his outburst, I was the reason he was leaving his family and home. How do I live with myself knowing it is all my fault for this, A complete family is now falling apart all because of me,
” This is absurd, Derick, what kind of joke is this, You are ready to leave your family and pack for what uh?” Liam lets out,
Mom simply sobbed continually still in her mate’s hold, it was evident to everyone how much she loved and adored her children, I was aware of the kind of bond she shared with Derick. Watching her cry this way for her son hurt me,
” Derick,” my voice wobbled as I called unto him, I sniffed, and it was at that moment I realized tears streamed down my face, I was crying.
” Please don’t leave ”
Derick shifted his gaze away from me, his eyes locked on the floor, my heart broke with his decision, I had to stop him from this unruly departure.
” My decision stands, I am leaving,” Derick states firmly, Mom’s sob increased, and the sound filled the room, she was broken down with tears gushing out of her eyes,
” All my life, I have always been content with the love and care you showed me, Mom and Dad. There is no other parent I would wish for other than you both, thank you for loving me unconditionally,”
Derick already had his bags arranged with his belongings in them, he had servants move them to his car outside,
” Son, maybe you should rethink this decision of yours, do not make rash judgments that’ll make you regret it tomorrow,” Dad says this time, he also had a sad look on his face,
” I have thought about it and made up my mind, Do not worry much, in a short time you’ll learn to live without me,”
” Derick!” Liam yelled at his brother, The words leaving Derick’s mouth pierced deep into my heart like a needle, this time my tears streamed down my eyes in swells,
” Why are doing this to us, son?” Mom cries out painfully, her eyes were red and puffy from crying,
” The truth is simple; I can not live here and watch the only woman I have ever loved belong to someone else, I am sorry if this is selfish, but this is what I feel,”
” Derick,” I call out to him, my voice a whisper as I walk toward him, his eyes were red too but not from crying but from pain,
” All these years growing up, I watched how the attention was solely on Liam, preparing him for his birthright as he would one day be Alpha and take over the pack. Not once did I feel jealous of my brother, rather I was proud and happy to have someone like him in my life. He always got everything he has ever desired, but the one thing that I had that he did not have was you; Macy, and now he has got you too.”
Derick lets out with misery in his voice, he was vulnerable as he stood in front of us and muttered those words,
” I’m sorry,” I say as my tears still gushed out of my eyes, arms wrapped around me and without looking back I knew it was my mate as the sparks tingled my skin, comforting me.
” Derick it is the will of the Moon Goddess for this to happen, you should understand how our ways work, I know you are hurt nevertheless leaving will not help,” Dad tries to explain to Derick, who only shakes his head at his Father’s words.
After much persuasion to Derick, he still declined our plea, Mom ran to him, giving him one last hug. I watched as he held her petite frame in his arms, she wailed loudly as she hugged him tight, refusing to let go until Derick peels her off his body,
” I love you, Mom, and I always will,”
” I love you too my dear,” Mom wraps her hand around him one more time yanking him closer to her body,
” Derick I___”
” Stay safe Macy, and please be happy always,” Derick says cutting my words short,
” When will you be back?” Liam inquires as he held me in his arms, his gaze fixed on his brother,
” Soon I guess,”
Liam let go of me before walking toward his brother, he pulled Derick into his embrace in a hug, and Derick returns the hug, I watched their display of brothers affection and in some way, it warmed my heart, it was the first time I had witnessed them this close.
” Be safe out there and remember this is your home and are welcome whenever you feel like coming back,” I heard Liam say to his brother,
I watched Derick walk toward the entrance of the pack house, and all the times we spent together replayed in my head, my heart felt like it was being stamped on,
Derick reached the foyer of the mansion, he stilled in his tracks before taking one last glance at me, our eyes locked together for a second, and then just like that he disappeared through the doors.
Mom broke out in loud sobs as she fell to the floor sobbing bitterly for her son, I watched Dad stoop down to her level on the ground, consoling his mate.
The only words that kept ringing in my head were, I was the reason! Before I came into their lives, it was perfect and now I have not merely hurt their son but also made him leave.
Liam held me in his arms as I wept, my feet left the ground, and I leaned into my mate’s body as he carried me in bridal style upstairs and back to our room.
” I’m sorry, it’s all my fault,” I whisper in between sobs, as we get to our room,
” Hey don’t say that, no one is at fault,” Liam says as he drops me softly on the bed, he climbs unto the mattress and pulls me closer to his body, gladly I lean into his warmth, the scent of his bath wash seemed to always soothe me.
Liam buries his head in the crook of my neck inhaling my scent, as we lay together in each other’s arms. In these past weeks, we have faced and conquered many difficulties together that were not easy at all, nevertheless I can gladly admit I have never been happier. I loved it here in the arms of my mate and soon-to-be husband.
Later that day, I decided to make dinner for everyone, Mom had not come out of her room since the incident that morning, which had me worried about how she was faring. It was disheartening to see someone like her who was constantly beaming with joy in this state, so I made sure to prepare all her favorite dishes to cheer her up, just like she did for us.
The servants helped to serve the dishes as it was dinner time, and everyone came down for dinner except Mom, of course.
” She has decided to eat dinner upstairs,” Dad speaks as he fills his plate with food, and I nod my head at his words.
” Do not worry too much about Mom, she’ll come around, she simply needs some time.” Liam says in comfort, his hands on my lap as he pats me, I forged a smile to reassure him that I was fine, but deep down my conscience ate me up,
After dinner, I chose to serve Mom her dinner that night, I knocked on the door twice but heard no response, so I decided to go in. The lights were all off except the bed lamb that shone lightly inside the room, my eyes searched around until they landed on her silhouette laying on the large bed.
” Mom?” I called out,
” I would rather not eat dinner,”
Her voice came out as a whisper, and her response made me sigh, “Mom it’s Macy, please eat a little at least, you haven’t had anything to eat since breakfast,” I implored her,
Mom seats on her bed facing me, her eyes were swollen as a result of weeping. ” My Derick has left me__my_baby,” she stutters, instantly I wrap my hands around her and pull her into a warm hug,
” I’m sorry it’s all my fault, please don’t cry anymore,”
” Macy, it is not your fault, please do not say those words,”
Mom tells me with tears in her eyes, we stayed together enjoying one another’s embrace which we both needed, Mom finally ate dinner, and I was happy she did. I kept her company for a few hours, and after she fell asleep, I retreated to my room.
