My phone rang loudly, bringing me out of my thoughts, my eyes were red from crying, I checked the caller and noticed Liam was the one calling. Reluctantly, I answer the call.
” Is Lori okay?” he asks immediately the phone connected.
” Liam, she is fine,” I whisper,
The phone goes silent for a second before I heard him curse out loud. ” Macy, where are you?” he asks in a low tone.
” I’m sorry,” I said with tears falling from my eyes, “Macy?” before he could say another word, I ended the call short and threw my phone out the window.
” Faster please Sir, I do not want to miss my train,” I implore the driver.
Liam’s POV
The moment I received Caleb’s text about them going over to Lori’s place, I became restless, for reasons I did not know.
But I shook the feeling off, It was just a visit, I thought, she’ll go home afterward I thought, little did I know that my mate had been making her plans.
I drove like a madman on the streets bypassing all the traffic rules, my wolf was howling loudly In my head for its mate.
The moment I got out of the car, my legs moved in fast strides as I approached Caleb whose head was bent remorsefully.
” Where is she?” I asked,
” Alpha, I’m sorry, but they had everything planned out already, I missed her, she is gone.”
” Where the fuck is my mate?” I yelled this time, my aura slowly seeping out, and my eyes turned to that of my wolf.
” Alpha calm down, we are in the city which is full of humans,” My Beta pleads as he comes behind me,
” How on earth did you even lose her? You had one job, and that was to keep an eye on my mate!”
My wolf growled as he paced back and forth in my head. Rage wanted blood.
We were outside Lori’s apartment building, which was filled with people walking around, I decided to go up to her unit because I fucking needed answers.
The whole house smelt of her, meaning she was indeed here. I sat opposite Lori in her living room, who had her head bent to the ground,
” Do you have any idea where she might have gone to?” I asked impatiently,
” No, I do not know where she is headed,” Lori mutters,
” She must have said something, anything would be of help,” Greg speaks up this time,
” I don’t understand why she decided to leave, and she also refused to tell me her destination too, I hope she is not in any trouble?”
” Lori, are you certain Macy did not spill anything to you?” I asked again because I was running out of patience,
She shakes her head and with the look in her eyes, you could tell she wasn’t lying.
” Lori, if Macy contacts you, or you remember anything you want to tell us, please do not hesitate to call,” Greg says as he hands her a card with his phone number and name on it which she accepts.
Without a word, I got on my feet and walked out of the apartment. My mind was in a frenzy, I never should have let her out of sight, I thought.
Ever since I found her, I have lost her twice, without even marking her yet! ” I told you not to let her go, but you did, now we’ve lost her, and it’s all your fault,” Rage says angrily.
I could not argue because everything my wolf said was correct, if I had not let her out of my sight then she would still be here with me.
” Where are you?” I murmured to myself, Greg drove the car this time,
” To her apartment,” I ordered, in no time we arrived and I immediately went up to her condo, It is a good thing I knew the passcode to the door because the moment I got in my eyes caught a white envelope that was signed; LIAM in front.
Quickly I open the envelope and discover that there is a letter in it for me, I take a seat on one of her sofas as I start reading:
Dear Liam,
Foremost, I apologize for disappearing like this. I did not know what else to do, I am not a werewolf, so I do not fully understand how this mate bond works, but I know one thing, whatever it is I feel toward you is real, which is still a surprise to me. My whole life has been a roller coaster of ups and downs, nevertheless, I try my possible to make myself happy, and I’ll be damned if I am the reason you and your brother Derick end up killing one another. Thank you for taking good care of me these past weeks, Liam, please do not bother to find me, I have decided to leave your lives, so there can be peace. Yours, Macy.
I laughed out loud at what I just read, the laughter of pain that did not get to my eyes. “Silly Macy, you can’t hide from me,” I murmured,
Without wasting time I gently put the letter inside my pocket and walked out of the apartment back to my car with my Beta and Caleb waiting for me.
” We are heading home,” I order the moment I arrived at the car.
Meanwhile, Rage has caused a mess in my head, and I’m now having a headache. My wolf was pissed, and if provided the opportunity it would take control of my body and cause havoc.
The ride back home was short, I immediately jumped down from the car and went straight to Derick’s room.
” Derick get your ass down here, there is trouble,” I yelled as I banged on his door, Dad came rushing out of his, and Mom’s room,
” Son, what It is?”
” You will find out soon, Dad,” I replied as I banged on Derick’s door again.
Finally, the door was opened, and my brother walked out. He looked like shit with the stench of alcohol fuming out his body.
” What do you want Alpha,” he asked sarcastically,
” Bring your ass downstairs when you have taken a proper bath and don’t smell like piss, you have fifteen minutes to come down!”
Before he could say a word, I turned my back leaving his door, I heard footsteps behind, and I knew it was Dad following me.
” Liam, has Derick done something wrong again?” Dad inquires,
I roll my eyes at his question, “As I said, you will find out soon enough!”
Fifteen minutes later, my brother comes down looking and smelling better than before.
” You wanted me, now I’m here, what do you want?” he asks impatiently,
Quickly I hand him Macy’s letter, which he accepts, Derick stares confused at the letter in his hands, and then back at me,
” Open it up, do not worry it won’t bite,” I say last part with a smirk on my face,
Reluctantly my brother opens the letter, he seems to read through it and at that moment his eyes widen,
” When did you get this?” Derick asks, he looked like he was shaking, his countenance entirely changed.
” About an hour ago, it was placed in her apartment when I arrived,”
” And Macy?”
” Gone too when I arrived,”
Derick was surprised and scared too, “What is going on?” Dad says, concerned,
I retrieve the letter from Derick and hand it over to my Father, who reads through it and is also stunned by what is written in there.
” What are we waiting for, we need to go find her, she must have not gotten far!” Dad yells,
I shrug before taking a seat, my head was in pain as my wolf kept wailing for its mate. ” Someone call Ripley and ask her to come over quickly,” I speak with my hand on my head as I gently massaged it.
” Alpha, Ripley has gone on a vacation with her mate for days now, she is out of Waterfall,” Greg replies to me,
Fuck! I cursed out loud, my mind was in a frenzy with everything that was going on, I had a lot on my plate, The war Henry spoke of, Finn’s betrayal, having not marked my mate yet which was an abnormality for me as an Alpha, and now my unmarked mate has chosen to run away from me.
I laid back on the sofa, I sat with my hand still on my head, before Derick’s voice brought me out of my thoughts.
” I’ll have to call Miles, he will be able to assist in this case,”
I simply nodded my head at him, before getting on my feet and walking out of the pack house.
Immediately I initiated the shift as Rage took over, he darts toward the woods in fast strides, and I simply retreat to the back of his mind.
