My heart leaped both for joy and fear, at least now she is up and out of danger, but then again, she will need explanations for what happened earlier. I won’t lie, I was feeling nervous about what her reaction would be.
Quickly, I jump on my feet and ran upstairs, I entered my room and saw Mom and a few maids surrounding her. The room was filled with her intoxicated mouth-watering scent that made my wolf excited.
I walked further into the room, then I saw her small silhouette sitting on the bed with her back against the bed frame, her hair all scattered from just waking up, Mom seemed to be whispering something to her.
The moment our eyes met, I saw her countenance change to the one thing that I am scared of, FEAR!!
She looked scared, fear was etched on her beautiful face, and her mouth quivered as she tried to speak.
” St…op, please…don’t come close…you, I saw you,”
She says stuttering, with her hand raised and pointing at me, trying to stop me. My heart breaks at her actions,
” Macy, I would never hurt you, you know that,” I try explaining to my mate, as I walk closer to the bed.
” No, I said stop!! Don’t come close, I saw you, you turned into a be.. ast to a beast and killed those men!” she says in a shaking voice.
I notice Derick run into the room panting, he did not even have a shirt on, with Dad and Greg behind him.
” Macy, those were not innocent men, they tried to hurt you,” I tell my mate.
” What are you? And how did you change into those vicious beasts,” she asks this time, her head turning to look at Derick too.
My brother is still on his spot, not saying a word. He moves his eyes away from her gaze, looking around the room but her. It was evident that Derick feared what her reaction would be.
” I asked a question. What are you?” Macy says this time in a whisper.
” Macy we are not beasts, we are shape-shifters.” I try to explain.
Macy knots her brows together confused, at my words. I moved closer to the bed, standing an inch from her, and tried to touch her. But her words halted me.
” Don’t touch me, Please stay far away from me, all of you.”
My heart clenches at her words, my wolf whimpering in my head for its mate. The bond calling unto her, it craved her touch, I wanted nothing more than to comfort her and tell her everything will be fine, I saw the fear in her eyes as she stared at us.
” Macy, you are supposed to know that I would be the last person to ever hurt you, nobody here would hurt you. We all want your safety and will protect you from any sort of harm, you are safe here in Waterfall So please do not be scared.” I told my shaking mate.
Mom signals the maids to leave the room, leaving just us. Macy looks around the room, before fixing her gaze on Derick, and I see my brother tensed at her eyes on him.
” What do you mean by shape-shifters?”
Before I could answer her question, Derick interrupts me,
” I think I should be the one to explain things to her Liam,” he says, walking forward and seating on the bed.
I knot my brow at my brother’s words, why should he?
” Let him Liam, he is right he should be the one to explain things to her,” Dad says to me through the mind link.
Reluctantly I walk away to the far end of the room, watching carefully, my wolf watching through my eyes.
” Macy relax and listen to me attentively. Because I am about to tell you a story,” Derick starts with, the whole room turns silent, everybody waiting to hear what Derick has to say.
” We are shape-shifters and not beasts as you think, what you witnessed today is humans shifting into the other side of them, we are a special and strong race living among humans on the earth,” Derick explains.
” I do…n’t understand how on earth is that even possible?” Macy asks, confused.
Derick pauses for a few seconds and stares in my direction, our eyes meet before moving his gaze back to her face.
” It is very much possible Macy, you saw with your eyes what happened at the warehouse earlier, we are shape-shifters, we change from our human side to our wolf form.”
” Wolf form??” Macy asks with wide eyes,
” Yes, Macy, Wolf forms. We are werewolves, not beasts.” Derick explains.
My wolf and I watched from the corner, as she wonders confused about my brother’s words, I felt a bit of jealousy with my brother that close and trying to explain things to her.
I should be that close to her, I thought, I mean she’s my mate, and I fucking missed her, I wanted to touch and feel her skin so bad. My wolf not helping me by showing me images of her naked body in my bed.
” Werewolves?”
” Yes, Macy, Werewolves. We are a pack here at Waterfall.” Derick says.
” So everyone here in Waterfall are wolves!” she says in an unbelievable tone.
Derick nods his head at her, confirming her words.
Macy looks up and stares at everyone with fear, she moves back on the bed and closer to the board, using the quilt to cover her body. ” Please don’t hurt me,” she says in a whisper.
My wolf and I lost it at her words, why would she think that we would ever hurt her? When that is the last thing that will ever happen.
” Macy, as I said earlier, no one is hurting you, you are safe here in Waterfall. There is nothing to be scared of. No one would dare think of harming you.” I explain to my mate.
” Mrs. Torres, you are also a wolf too?” she asks in a shaky voice.
Mom looks shocked at Macy’s question in fact we all are.
” Macy honey, just like Derick has explained, we all here at Waterfall are werewolves, it is who we are and trust me no one here will hurt you,” Mom explains to my shaking mate on the bed.
” So all this while, I was being lied to? Uh Derick you lied to me everyone here lied to me!” Macy says as tears run down from her eyes to her cheek.
