Drake
I know she hates my guts right now, but how do I explain that everything I did was to keep her safe?
I love Selena so deeply that I was ready to let go of Sally to be with her. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life.
As a warrior, I was trained never to get emotionally attached and to keep my feelings locked away.
But with Selena, the emotions ran so deep, cutting through every barrier I had built. I had to cry in secret while pretending to the world that everything was fine.
Just when I finally decided to leave Sally, Selena dropped the bombshell.
She told me we could never be together, that the thought of sharing me with Sally was unbearable.
She said the only way to move forward was to reject the bond.
I can still remember that moment like it was yesterday. The words hit me like a silver bullet, and I went wild.
My wolf surged forward in fury, unable to contain the overwhelming rage and heartbreak. The bond, the love, the pain-it all exploded inside me, leaving me shattered.
In the face of my fury, my wolf lunged at another, desperate for release. I went for a run, snapping the life out of the wolf in front of me, its blood filling me with a dark sense of relief I hadn’t felt in a long time.
But when the rage subsided, the reality hit me hard-I had taken a life. And not just any life.
The guards were on me in an instant, dragging me away. It was then I realized what I had done. I had killed the Alpha’s breeder, someone Alpha Roland had loved dearly.
“Drake.” The voice pulls me from the torment of thoughts. It’s Selena, her voice like fine wine, soothing my aching heart.
I stare at her, lost in her presence for what feels like forever. The weight of the past melts away as I close the distance between us, unable to resist the pull. I take her lips into mine, savoring the moment.
“Oh goddess, is this the torture I have to endure now?” Ally’s voice cuts through my daze, pulling me back to reality.
Selena smiles widely at Ally, her eyes twinkling with amusement. “Oh, Ally, give the old man some breathing space.”
“Old man?” I retort immediately, a smirk tugging at the corner of my mouth. “I know you meant to say something else.”
Selena laughs softly, and for a moment, the heaviness of the past fades into the background, replaced by a lightness I hadn’t felt in years.
“Oh please, you two should just stop it already,” Ally snaps, giving me a pointed look. “What were you doing in the woods at that time, and what’s the connection with the Blood Moon Alpha? What’s his name again?” she asks, thinking hard.
“Alpha Roland,” I helped her, slipping off my tongue effortlessly.
“Exactly,” she says, nodding as if she’s finally pieced something together.
Ally has changed over the years, and I can’t help but smile at how much for the better.
She was once timid, soft-spoken, and unsure, but now… seeing her like this makes my heart swell with pride. She’s become someone strong and confident.
“Start talking, Dad,” Ally snaps impatiently, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Let’s get out of here first,” Selena breaks the tension, starting the car. The engine hums to life, and we start moving.
The car is filled with a comfortable silence as we all get lost in our thoughts.
Selena and I keep stealing glances at each other.
It’s crazy that we rejected each other and yet, the bond didn’t break. I had to dig deeper and carry out an inquiry to understand why.
That’s when I learned something unexpected-Selena comes from a powerful bloodline, one so strong that it’s nearly impossible for their bond with their fated mate to sever.
I glance at Ally in the rearview mirror, noticing that she’s passed out in the back seat, with her chest rising and falling with slow, steady breaths.
She’s been through a lot, and I’m sure she needs the rest.
“She looks more beautiful,” I say quietly, watching Ally in the rearview mirror. “Has she shifted?”
Selena slowly shakes her head, indicating no, and my heart tightens with the memories of the decision Alpha Roland made.
The choice that sealed Ally’s fate as a breeder was all because of one mistake I made.
Selena’s voice is soft and soothing. “She will understand, you know. There’s no point hiding the truth from her.”
I turn my face away from her, unsure. “Are you sure?”
“Trust me, she will,” Selena says, with a reassuring tone as she steers the car toward a large compound. It’s a vast estate.
I stare at her in disbelief, still processing everything. A small smile plays on Selena’s lips, and she knows exactly why I’m staring at her.
“You finally took over this property after refusing for the umpteenth time,” I ask, the surprise evident in my voice.
“It’s my inheritance, Drake,” with her eyes still on the road as she drives into the compound. “There’s no way I wouldn’t have accepted what’s rightly mine.”
Selena’s strength isn’t just in her bloodline-it’s in the way she takes control of her life, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
Selena comes from a powerful alpha bloodline-one of the strongest to ever exist. She’s the only female alpha left in her bloodline.
Years ago, she was asked to marry a powerful alpha from the West.
The idea was to unite their bloodlines and create heirs with an even stronger alpha legacy.
But Selena refused. She knew the alpha in question was the one who killed her father.
She wasn’t willing to bind herself in marriage to her father’s killer, no matter the political or bloodline advantages it would bring.
The worst part is that no one believed her when she said she saw the alpha kill her father.
But what they didn’t know was that Selena has the power of precognition. She can see the future before it happens, and she saw it all-the murder of her father. The truth was right there in her mind, but nobody cared enough to listen.
Now, her uncle is the new alpha. He’s not a man of honor, not by any means. He’s a scheming, manipulative son of a bitch who only cares about power. It makes me sick to think of how much Selena has had to endure because of him.
“Good for you then, that they let you have access to your inheritance,” I say, trying to lighten the mood. But I know it’s not that simple.
Selena shrugs slightly, not fazed by the words. “They don’t need it anyway,” she says with a dismissive wave. “It’s not even within the pack’s borders. They don’t care about it.”
Selena stops the car and gently shakes Ally awake. “We’re home, child.”
Ally stirs, groaning slightly before her eyes flutter open, a soft smile spreading across her face.
“Thank goodness,” she sighs, sitting up. “I can’t wait to see my boy,” she adds, her eyes lighting up with so much joy.
“Your boy?” I ask. I didn’t know Ally had a son.
Selena says nothing in response, merely walking past me and heading toward the house. I’m left standing there, processing the sudden revelation.
As we approach the door, a little boy, around three or four years old, comes rushing out, his tiny legs moving quickly.
His face is lit with so much joy, and when he sees Ally, his eyes brighten even more.
Ally opens her arms wide, and the little boy leaps into her, giggling. “Oh, my world, I’ve missed you so much!” she says, peppering him with kisses.
The boy giggles, his voice filled with sweetness. “Of course, Mummy! I missed you so much!” His little arms wrap around her neck as he clings to her.
My heart is swelling with a mixture of emotions. It’s clear that Ally’s love for this boy is everything to her, and in that moment, it’s as if the rest of the world fades away.
But just as I watch their reunion, a woman steps forward from the house, and my heart sinks. I freeze as my gaze locks on her, taking in her features.
Oh, my goddess. This can’t be happening.
The woman standing there is the spitting image of Alpha Roland’s breeder. I can’t believe what I’m seeing. The resemblance is undeniable.
