Chapter 622: Mrs. Rocco’s Confession

Book:Back To Thrones Published:2025-3-9

Mrs. Rocco wasn’t someone easy to get ahold of. It was said that many wealthy young men lined up to meet her, but she showed no interest in any of them. Yet, here she was, meeting this man. Could he be ordinary? Absolutely not.
Hearing Kayden’s words, the male server shuddered, trembling as he stammered, “N-no, I didn’t mean that! I didn’t mean that! It’s my fault-I was blind! I was blind!”
Mrs. Rocco looked the man up and down before addressing Kayden, “Mr. Scott, there’s no need to bother with someone so clueless. If you don’t want to see him, he can stop working here right now.”
Hearing Mrs. Rocco’s statement, the man felt his world collapsing. It had taken him so much effort to land this job, and he had just made it to a small supervisor position. If he lost this, his life would fall apart.
“Mrs. Rocco! Please, please don’t let me lose my job! I don’t want to lose my job!” The man’s face turned pale with fear.
The female server who had joined him in mocking Kayden quickly left the counter, terrified of being implicated.
Kayden glanced at the man and sighed lightly. Waving his hand, he said, “Enough, get out of here.”
The man didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he looked pleadingly at Mrs. Rocco.
Mrs. Rocco rolled her eyes at him, her voice sharp as she commanded, “Mr. Scott told you to leave. What are you still kneeling here for? Get lost!”
“Yes, yes!” The man nodded repeatedly, crawling away in panic.
Just moments ago, he thought it was only a harmless joke. But now, he realized that joke had gone too far-it almost cost him his future! Some people are just like that; with a single word, they can end everything you’ve worked for.
This incident taught the man a valuable lesson: never judge people through biased lenses. The very person you look down on might be the one destined to rise high enough to slap you in the face.
After the man left, Mrs. Rocco turned to Kayden, her demeanor gracious and elegant. “Mr. Scott, how does my outfit look today?”
Kayden hesitated for a moment, then gave her another look before nodding slightly. “It looks great. Mrs. Rocco, your poise is extraordinary, and you carry yourself with a noble air. Everything looks good on you.”
“Then,” she asked suddenly, “if you didn’t know I had a son, how old would you think I am?”
Kayden paused to think before replying, “In your twenties, maybe?”
“Haha!” Mrs. Rocco laughed joyfully. What woman wouldn’t enjoy such compliments? Though she had grown used to hearing them, coming from Kayden, it felt different, like a special kind of sweetness.
Seemingly struck by a thought, she added, “Oh, Mr. Scott, you don’t have to call me that anymore. Why don’t you just call me Savannah? Or Sav?”
Kayden: “…”
He looked at Mrs. Rocco, momentarily at a loss for words. Was she confessing her feelings this quickly? Well, it made sense-at her age, she wouldn’t behave as shyly as a young girl.
Mrs. Rocco’s son, Grant Rocco, was in his twenties. Kayden himself was only a few years older than her son. By all logic, he should be calling her Aunt Savannah. But that didn’t matter. None of it mattered to Kayden.
“Fine, I’ll call you Savannah then,” Kayden replied.
Mrs. Rocco smiled warmly. “By the way, Mr. Scott, may I ask if you’re married?”
Kayden remained quiet for a few seconds before answering, “I was.”
Hearing this, Mrs. Rocco’s expression darkened slightly, her eyes reflecting a hint of regret. She hadn’t expected that he was already married, and the revelation caught her off guard.
“But I’m divorced now,” Kayden added.
It was true-he had divorced Georgia. He had told her before: if she ever wanted to leave and found happiness, he wouldn’t stand in her way.
Those words seemed to bring color back to Mrs. Rocco’s face. Her eyes widened with surprise and joy as she exclaimed, “What? You’re divorced? Really?”
Realizing her reaction was too intense, she cleared her throat and regained her composure. “Mr. Scott, I didn’t expect someone like you to be divorced. Did you leave her?”
Kayden shook his head. “No, she left me. But it doesn’t matter anymore.”
Mrs. Rocco, who had been sipping tea, nearly spat it out upon hearing this.
“You’re kidding me, right?” she asked incredulously. “Someone actually left you? Does she have no sense? That girl must be out of her mind!”
Kayden raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean? You sound like you know me well.”
Mrs. Rocco shook her head slightly. “I don’t know you, but your aura is something most men can’t match. From the moment I saw you, I could tell you weren’t ordinary.”
“In other words, you caught my attention.”
There was no doubt now-Mrs. Rocco had her sights set on Kayden.
Ever since returning to the Rocco family a few days ago, she hadn’t been able to stop thinking about him. Kayden seemed to possess a magnetic pull, always appearing in her thoughts without reason.
Even stranger, she felt as though she’d returned to her teenage years, like a girl experiencing her first crush.
Yes, that was exactly how it felt.
Unable to resist, she had come to meet him today.
Kayden’s face shifted into an awkward expression. Forcing a smile, he said, “Savannah, that’s quite the joke. Someone like you can have anyone you want. I’m just an unemployed drifter right now.”
For once, proud Kayden chose to downplay himself. Though his pride ran deep, he allowed humility to veil it this time.
“You don’t understand my pain,” Mrs. Rocco sighed. “My husband has been dead for ten years. In all that time, I haven’t been touched by another man. I’ve almost turned into a man myself. Now that I’m in my prime, I thought I’d focus on growing the family business. But after meeting you, my heart hasn’t been at peace.”
“You’re like a fish swimming into the calm river of my life. Because of you, my river now stirs with waves. Mr. Scott, you probably can’t understand this feeling.”
Mrs. Rocco was as bold as ever, speaking with a candidness that shocked even Kayden. Even when discussing something so intimate, she carried herself with poise, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
