I stiffen, my senses sharpening instantly. Turning toward the door, I catch the faintest whiff of an unfamiliar scent.
“Selena, stay here,” I say, rising to my feet. My wolf is already on edge, and the hairs on the back of my neck prickle as I step into the hallway, scanning the dimly lit corridor.
That’s when I see it-a figure slipping out of sight at the far end, leaving behind the faint scent of blood. Something is off.
I tap into my shadow powers, moving quickly. My feet barely make a sound as I slip through the hallways, the figure’s scent still lingering faintly in the air.
I follow the trail, as Kaido’s pace restlessly.
But as I approach the pack borders, the scent begins to fade. I stop and scan the area. It’s as if the figure has vanished without a trace.
I look around, desperate to find a sign, but there’s nothing. The forest is eerily quiet.
I stood still for a moment, my senses stretched to their limits. My wolf growls in frustration, and I can feel its heat.
Who dares step into my territory unannounced? The thought echoes in my mind as I reach the pack borders. My eyes narrow as I notice the guards standing watch.
I shift back to my human form, my senses still on high alert. As soon as the guards see me, they immediately bow their heads.
“Alpha,” they greet me in unison.
I nod, acknowledging their greeting, as I take in each of their features.
“Everything good?” my voice low and commanding, searching their eyes for any trace of lies.
“Everything is good, Alpha,” they chorus, each of them bowing their necks in submission.
Satisfied, I nod my head in approval and turn toward the pack house.
But Kaidos, my wolf, is relentless. He paces in my mind, urging me to return to Alethea. He’s demanding something I don’t fully understand.
I shake my head, trying to focus. I should be thinking about Maya. She is my future Luna. She’s the one who fits in the position, not Alethea.
Why hasn’t Kaidos accepted that? Why can’t he let go of this obsession with her?
With that in mind, I make my way toward the pack house, but the feeling of unease still gnaws at me.
I make my way toward my room. Once I’m inside, I immediately strip off my clothes.
I step into the shower, allowing the warm water to cascade over my skin, soothing the tension in my muscles. But even as I close my eyes, trying to clear my mind, my thoughts are consumed by Alethea.
I can’t stop thinking about the reckless night we shared-the way she fit perfectly against me, her body moving with an almost desperate need as she took all of me. I remember how her body trembled, how she quivered with each touch I gave her. It’s a memory that refuses to fade.
I know I lost control the moment I saw her at the club. She was dancing like a seductress, her movements impossible to ignore, drawing me to her like a magnet.
The thought of it makes my cock twitch, stirring with desire, making it hard to ignore the rush of blood that floods through my cock making it erect.
I groan in frustration, unable to hold back as I give in to the pent-up tension, my hand moving with my cock.
I know I shouldn’t be thinking about this now-not with Alethea lying unconscious in a coma at the pack hospital. But the image of her, of our time together, is impossible to push away.
With a deep, pained groan, I finally release my cum spilling all over the bathroom tiles, my breath catching in my chest as I struggle to regain control of my thoughts. It’s a moment of release, but it leaves me feeling empty and restless.
Alethea is going to be the death of me.
I grab my towel, draping it around my waist, and make my way to my bedroom. I change into something more comfortable,
I have Pack’s matter demanding my attention.
Kaidos is still restless, but I push him aside, forcing myself to focus.
In my office, I mind-link Liam.
“Yes, Alpha?” His voice sounds distant, almost like he’s panting. I can’t help but wonder if he’s in the middle of fucking one of his whores.
Liam is a good kid, loyal, with a solid head on his shoulders. I trust him with my life. We grew up together, from diapers to this. That’s part of the reason he gets away with things others wouldn’t.
Within minutes, he’s standing in front of me in my office.
“Alpha, you called for me?” looking at me with curiosity.
I look at Liam. “I want you to check the surveillance cameras and get all the details about the vehicle that hit Alethea.”
Liam nods but raises an eyebrow. “Oh, what did you think, Alpha? You think someone might be behind it?”
I meet his gaze, my voice firm. “You know me, Liam. I like to dot my i’s and cross my t’s. I don’t want anyone in my pack in danger.”
“On it, Alpha,” he says, before turning to leave the office.
I let out a breath. With no time to waste, I dive into the stack of contracts on my desk left unattended for far too long. I work through the night, signing off on the necessary details.

The sudden ringing of my alarm jolts me out of sleep. “Damn it,” I curse as I glance at the window, seeing the first rays of sunlight streaming through the curtain.
“Alpha, you have to come,” Liam’s voice echoes through my mind.
I grunt in frustration, rubbing my eyes. “Where the fuck are you?” I growl, still groggy from the night’s exhaustion.
“At the pack hospital,” he responds quickly.
Kaidos suddenly lifts his head, I spring off the couch where I must have fallen asleep during the night. If he is at the pack hospital, it has to do with Alethea.
“I’ll be there,” I mutter to myself, not wasting a second. I dash out the door of the pack house, my feet moving swiftly as I make my way to the hospital.
Every instinct tells me something is wrong, and I can’t afford to waste time.
With quick, determined steps, I make my way to the pack hospital, and in no time, I see Liam standing by the entrance.
“What is it?” my voice was sharp with impatience.
“You have to see this yourself, Alpha,” with a grave expression as he turns and leads the way toward Alethea’s room.
Liam opens the door, and the sight that greets me is devastating. Kaidos growls loudly in my mind, his anger mirroring mine.
“I told you not to leave her sight. Now look at what’s happened.”
My body tenses and I feel my heart tighten with a surge of rage. I clench my fists, as I struggle to control the emotion rising. It triggers an earth-shaking growl that erupts from deep within my chest.
The sound echoes through the halls, and the few wolves in the vicinity cower in fear, feeling the raw fury emanating from me.
