“Where did this thread come from?”
As she put her arms out to the sides to be on the lookout for potential danger, Edith was already in a panic. She was pursued by Seth, who shifted into a wolf.
“I’ve never seen a case like this,” Ashley said.
Ashley carefully examined the odd situation in front of her. Juliette’s body spread out in front of them, releasing several threads that spanned the entire space. Seth’s foreleg and Edith’s hand were tied together by one of the threads.
Baby Juliette’s body emitted a force that poured through it, binding her parents’ hands and feet. The energy that bonded Edith and Seth was drained in the next instant, leaving them feeling limp.
Ashley noticed the two lying slowly on the floor. She carefully considered how to counter baby Juliette’s power. She was well aware that Juliette was a tribrid with passive vampire powers. She snatched a bright syringe out of her bag and plunged it into Juliette’s neck right away.
“I hope I was right,” Ashley said as she stepped back from the bed.
Baby Juliette’s strength slowly weakened, with the threads that were released from her body inching backwards and back into her body. Ashley quickly checked on Seth and Edith, who were still lying limp on the floor.
Two wolves entered the room and saw the Alpha already lying on the floor. The light brown wolf asked, [Alpha, are you alright?]
[I’m fine, just feeling weak because my energy was sucked out just now.] Seth replied.
[What happened? Luna is the same as you; she…]
[We’re fine; please take us to the bed and ask Ashley to handle us! I don’t have any energy left to even shift into human form.]
[Okay, Alpha!]
The light brown wolf pulled Seth’s neck to be laid on the bed in his room, while the grey wolf lifted Edith on his back for the same.
“I’ll deal with Juliette first; the sunlight extract is still working its way through her body. After that, I’ll monitor you guys,” Ashley said to Seth and Edith, who were about to leave the room.
“You’re an amazing baby. You’re only a few months old, but you can overwhelm your parents like that. It’s a good thing I didn’t miss my prediction. What will your strength be like when you grow up, Julie? I’ll increase the dose of morphine so you can relax,” added Ashley to the baby.
Ashley injected morphine into Julie’s body and checked her heart rate again. After that, she walked to the room where Seth and Edith were. Inside, Ashley could see Seth still lying on the bed in his wolf form. Ashley approached him and shifted her form into a black fur mixed with a dark brown wolf.
[What do you feel now, Alpha?]
[I can’t move my arms and legs; I feel so weak. What exactly happened, Ashley?]
[I can’t explain it right now. For now, I need to focus on regaining your and Luna’s strength. For that, I need some herbal medicines for you and 1 bag of human blood for Luna. Yeah, just one bag, and she can heal herself after drinking human blood. Where’s Kai? Maybe he still has some human blood in stock.] Ashley explained.
Do what you have to do! We haven’t seen Kai these past two days; just search the freezer; tell him that I sent you if he asks later, Seth said.
[Alright. Beta Jadden, please get me the blood stock in Kai’s freezer and some herbal medicine that Emma keeps in her room; and you, Gamma Will, help me to straighten Alpha’s body later when he takes the medicine.]

Edith looked at Seth with an incredulous look. She frowned as soon as she heard one word in Ashley’s words.
“Is there anything like that in this world?” asked Edith, wanting to be more certain.
“You could say this is the first time. Her absorption ability is a combination of vampire power and magic. She uses the threads from all of her body to absorb supernatural energy from her surroundings. Right now, she only has the passive power of a vampire, but after she dies and turns into a vampire, her power can be even more terrifying than now. Just try to imagine a blood-sucking creature that can absorb power as well.”
“By the Moon Goddess! I was even overwhelmed by my own daughter. I don’t know if I should be thankful for this or not,” Edith said.
“What is her wolf power?” This time it was Seth who asked after listening in silence.
“For now, I can only conclude that her wolf power is fine, but I don’t know about her emotional state. You’re already very troublesome when you’re in a state of anger; what more would we be faced with a tribrid like Julie, probably even more unstable than her father? There’s so much monster power in her; sorry, no offence!” said Ashley.
Seth and Edith were silent. They both had the same thoughts on this matter. Julie’s ability could not be underestimated. Any miscalculation would be disastrous. Julie’s power was both a gift and a curse.
Edith imagined an adult. Julie stood in the middle of the street as she stretched out her arms with all the threads stretched out and her eyes flashing red with a murderous stare. It was scary for Edith just to imagine it. She shook her head to disperse her own reverie.
In contrast to Seth, he was smiling broadly as he daydreamed of the adult Julie, who had the power of the thread that stretched out and wrapped around the bodies of the rogues who were already drooping limply. Seth saw a glint in his daughter’s yellow eyes, as if she were proud of what she had done after conquering the troublemaking wolves.
“What are you guys thinking about?” asked Ashley, who looked back and forth between Seth and Edith.
“Ah, nothing,” they replied simultaneously.
“You look suspicious, Seth. Unlike your wife.”
Seth didn’t answer; his far-flung fantasy couldn’t possibly be spelled out in front of Edith. Edith would surely get angry at him for thinking such a thing. Seth always thought Edith was overprotective of her children.
“That’s it. For now, I can only duplicate the sunlight extract in case this happens again. While waiting, I will continue to observe Julie; maybe I will check her blood regularly. I also ask you to keep her emotions stable,” Ashley advised as she handed Edith a box of syringes filled with the sunlight extract.
Edith looked at the contents of the box in her hand. One slot was empty, and Edith concluded that Ashley had used it to weaken Juliette. There was a feeling of heartlessness that Edith directed towards her daughter. She knew that vampires were weak to sunlight.
As if knowing what Edith was thinking, Seth said, “Ashley has adjusted the dose; she’s a great pack doctor. Julie will be fine. It’s only 40% sunlight, 20% silver, and the rest is just morphine. My grandfather had the idea of this kryptonite vampire to protect the pack, and Ashley’s parents refined it.”
“Is that true?”
“It’s true. My grandfather was the most powerful werewolf and always had careful planning for all matters concerning the Red Crescent Moon. Hence, he became Supreme Alpha after becoming the ambassador of the Idris. He was a great werewolf, but unfortunately, he was known for being cruel and had no compassion whatsoever. You know, since I can’t be like him, then I want Julian to be like him.”
“Why can’t you be like your grandfather, and why should Julian be like your grandfather? Are you crazy, Seth?” screeched Edith with wide eyes.
“I can’t be like my grandfather because of the Veela enchantment, and Julian has to be like him because…”
