Unconscious

“Doctor Ashley, can you come to my house now? Edith fainted. I don’t know what happened to her. It’s like she’s possessed.”
Five minutes later, Seth ended his phone call with Dr. Ashley. Seth was still looking at Edith, who was lying on the bed. He clearly remembered how Edith became a different person. The girl floated with a blue aura radiating all over her body. The angry look on her face was clearly visible at that moment.
Seth clearly saw Edith’s aura and was convinced that it was a magical sign. A supernatural being, like himself, was able to sense the supernatural elements of other beings. Moreover, he was a werewolf who had all five senses that were many times more sensitive than humans.
He had only ever seen a few witches with white and black auras. Seth had known several white and black witches during his existence. From the data that Seth had about Edith, he was fully convinced that Edith was not of witch descent.
Seth touched Edith’s hand, which was so cold and pale. He had covered Edith with three layers of thick blankets, but the girl’s skin was still cold. Seth then looked at Edith with a bit of worry, afraid that something would happen to both of them.
Half an hour later, Doctor Ashley arrived. Ashley, who was the Pack Doctor of the Red Crescent, had been trusted by the Alpha to help with all the medical needs of the pack. Ashley approached Seth and asked, ‘How long has she been unconscious?’
“About two hours. Her body is very cold.”
Doctor Ashley opened Edith’s eyes and checked the condition of her pupils. She also measured Edith’s heart rate while looking at her watch. She also placed a thermometer on Edith’s forearm, then felt her abdomen and smiled.
“How is she, Ashley? Does she need to be taken to the hospital?”
“Edith is hypothermic. You can compress her with a warm cloth and drape it around her neck, give her more blankets, switch on the heating, and monitor her temperature every half hour. I’ll take a blood sample. You said that she was possessed. Tell me, what happened?”
“We had a fight, but it wasn’t really a fight. It seemed like she was feeling jealous, and I meant to tease her, but she became very angry. After that, I saw a blue aura coming out of her body, and she floated for a while above the ground.”
‘Did she say anything?’
“No, she didn’t. She just looked angry, then the aura faded and she calmed down after I hugged her, and then she just passed out. What about the baby?”
“I’d better consult with Emma; she should know about these symptoms. The baby is fine; she’s growing healthily. Her belly already looks a little prominent. Take vitamins regularly. And you’d better change your attitude. Don’t always get on other people’s nerves, Seth.”
“Thanks to the Moon Goddess. I thought so too. I will try to behave myself. Thank you, Ashley.”
Seth escorted Ashley to the front door. He immediately followed the doctor’s advice to treat Edith so that her body temperature would return to normal. While checking the girl’s temperature, Seth suddenly heard a wolf howl in the distance.
He remembered that tonight was his turn to check the packing area. Seth instantly shifted into wolf form and communicated with one of the wolves.
[Jadden, I’m asking you to keep watch around my house tonight. Edith is not well; I need your help to replace me in looking after Edith while I inspect the forest.
[No problem, just bring me some venison,” said Jadden.
[Bloody werewolf, I’m talking seriously!]
[Whoa, I’m just kidding, Seth.]
[Let me know if anything happens.]
[Okay.]
Throughout the night, Seth circled the forest and checked for any unfamiliar movements he heard. He only found a few bear hunters moving around in the woods; otherwise, the situation was safely under control until the sun replaced the darkness of the night.

The sun had already revealed its face this morning. Its soft rays fell on Edith’s face reflecting her beauty. Edith woke up in bed after sleeping from the previous day. The exhaustion she experienced yesterday almost made her sleep all day and she couldn’t remember what caused her to be like that.
Edith only realised that there was no one in the room when her eyes opened fully. As soon as she looked at the table across from her bed, there was a tray of food, which Edith guessed must be for her. She picked up a jumbo-sized cheese and meat sandwich and ate it right away.
Suddenly the door opened and Seth walked into the room. Edith was slightly disturbed by his shabby appearance as if he hadn’t slept all night. The sight caught Edith’s attention, which inevitably raised questions in her mind.
“Good morning, Seth. You look tired.”
Seth felt very tired, but he still wanted to respond to Edith’s statement to him. He sat up and leaned his body on the sofa. His hands rubbed his face, which looked haggard.
“Morning. I’ve been doing inspections in the forest. During the Alpha’s absence, I assigned the werewolves to guard the woods in turn.”
‘What’s in the woods that you have to guard?’ asked Edith curiously.
“A few days ago, there was a werewolf who died after being attacked by vampires. I increased the level of vigilance in the pack and the region.”
Edith began to understand. There were sometimes days when the school became very quiet when Seth and his friends were not at school. Perhaps this was the reason for their absence. The werewolves were guarding their territory.
But there was one thing that bothered her mind. As soon as she heard Seth talk about vampires, Edith felt a wave of horror generated from her brain radiate throughout her body. Then she asked, ‘Vampires? Are they dangerous?’
‘Before they make trouble in this area, I will make sure this area is safe for our pack.’
Letting Seth rest on the sofa, Edith then walked into the toilet to wash her face and brush her teeth. She intended to visit his house to collect some of her personal belongings. Her decision to move into Seth’s house had already been made, so she had to prepare for it today.
When the bus stopped at the shelter in front of Edith’s neighbourhood, she got off the bus and walked towards her home. Edith liked this area very much, as the residents here were mostly elderly people enjoying their old age. This made Edith feel at ease when she was home alone.
Edith walked through the courtyard of the blue-painted house; her steps stopped when a voice called her. Edith turned her head and saw the face that called her. She saw a man with pale white skin, even very pale when standing in the sun like this.
‘Who is this person?’
