At that moment, my world revolved entirely around Kael.
Our gazes locked, intense and unwavering. His eyes, just like mine, were focused and deep. He stared at me, occasionally kissing me, his movements never ceasing.
After a while, my mind seemed to explode with fireworks. My body, taut and trembling, shuddered violently as I reached climax.
Being with Kael like this was indescribably wonderful. So much so that I often fantasized about us continuing like this forever.
Under Kael’s “guidance”, my body had become increasingly sensitive.
I lost count of how many times he had me before we finally stopped.
Afterward, I lay in Kael’s arms. His muscles were hard as stone, and my face pressed against his chest, feeling the steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat.
A werewolf’s heartbeat seemed faster than a human’s. Their body temperature was higher, too, and they possessed so many extraordinary abilities.
How wonderful, I thought to myself. If only I could have those special abilities like Kael.
Kael held me close, kissing the top of my head before asking, “Seraphina, are you really sure about this?”
“Yes. And that card you gave me the other day-I don’t need it. Here, take it back.” I thought of what happened back then, opening the nightstand drawer and handing him the black card.
Kael didn’t take it. His face turned cold as he pulled out a lighter and a cigarette, lighting it up and taking a deep drag.
His face was obscured by the smoke, but his deep brown eyes remained sharp and piercing.
“Keep it. I don’t need the money.”
“But it’s your money,” I insisted.
I didn’t like owing others, especially Kael. It was his money, and he should spend it himself, not give it to me.
No matter how much he had, it wasn’t my place to spend it. I wasn’t anyone special to him. Why should I use his money?
“Seraphina, you’re the woman I love, so what can I say? I can’t stand to see you unhappy. Think of this money as my way of buying your happiness, okay?” Kael spoke slowly after finishing his cigarette.
I could tell he was at his lowest point, but he was trying to hold it together.
His vulnerability broke my heart.
I hugged him, burying my face in his chest. “I’m sorry. If you were just an ordinary person, or if I were a werewolf, I think we could be happy together. But… we’re completely different species. Being together would give us so many challenges.”
It wasn’t just the gap between our species. There was also the vast difference in our backgrounds and the many other ways we were unequal.
I was just an ordinary student, not even the best at school.
But Kael? He wasn’t just a boxing star. He excelled in every single thing he did and even earned numerous scholarships.
“Seraphina, I’ve told you before-if you stay true to your heart, you’ll achieve what you want,” Kael sighed. “I think you don’t trust me enough, or yourself.”
“Yes, I’m still hesitant. Being with you makes me happy, but the consequences feel too overwhelming for me to handle.”
“I haven’t given you enough security, have I? But Seraphina, can you give me another chance? I still hope you’ll choose me and have some faith in us.” He gripped my shoulders, staring into my eyes.
His gaze was so focused, so full of affection, that my hesitation made me feel like a coward.
No, I couldn’t be a coward!
“Let me think about it a little longer. I’m so confused right now. Maybe we can start as friends?”
To me, this seemed like the safest option. Becoming friends with Kael would give me more time to figure out our relationship.
“Alright, Seraphina. I won’t push you this time.” Kael kissed me, then got dressed.
“I’m leaving now. Are you feeling okay?”
“I feel fine, like I was never sick.”
“Good.” Kael breathed a sigh of relief.
Then, he vanished before my eyes, appearing and then disappearing like a gust of wind that swept past my room.
I lay back in bed, exhaustion quickly pulling me into a deep sleep.
The chatter about me on the Facebook group was quickly cleaned up, as if it had never happened.
But when I went to class, I could still feel people staring at me.
They didn’t say anything, but their eyes and expressions made it clear what they were thinking.
I ignored them, focusing on my studies and preparing for upcoming exams.
Magnus messaged me-
Magnus: Seraphina, I’m so sorry. I don’t know why this happened.
I replied: No, Magnus, you don’t need to apologize. This isn’t your fault. It’s the people hiding in the shadows who are to blame!
To make it up to you, let me treat you to a dinner, okay?
Honestly, I felt I was the one who owed Magnus an apology. He had always been a gentleman, polite and kind.
If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t have been photographed and dragged into the mess on the Facebook group.
I should be the one apologizing. I feel like I’ve caused you trouble.
I didn’t know who was hiding in the shadows and targeting me, but I was determined to find out.
I felt so powerless.
It’s fine, Seraphina. I appreciate it, but let me treat you.
I couldn’t help but laugh. Our back-and-forth was getting a bit ridiculous.
Alright, I won’t argue with you.
Still, I worried about being spied on. If someone was following me, would they photograph Magnus and me together?
Was it Vivienne? Was she behind all this?
As if sensing my thoughts, I spotted Vivienne nearby.
She saw me too and walked over, making a mocking face. “Slut, are you just so desperate you’ll get with any man?”
“Was it you who spied on me?” I demanded.
“Who’d spy on you?” Vivienne sneered.
But I couldn’t rule her out.
At school, Vivienne was my biggest enemy. She was popular enough to have others do her dirty work.
“Good. Don’t let me find out it was you, or I’ll tear your face apart!” I threatened.
Vivienne widened her eyes. “You dare! I’ll kill you!”
