Reasoning

Book:The Forbidden Reverse Harem Published:2025-3-6

Cassandra had promised to come to Eugene’s house.
But was she even existing to make that empty promise?
Yes.
She was.
After a few minutes, Cassandra was trying her best to keep her hands to herself.
She wanted to slap Ravine until her face swelled and she spit a few molars out.
But that would give away to Ravine, and probably to the man as well; that Cassandra predicted her death and was worried to death.
The man drives through the streets, taking a longer route because of several road closures throughout the city. The employee was hugged by the girl as he blushes and takes off. He was to go back to his house where his lonely wife was waiting for him.
Cassandra looks at the man’s house in front of herself. She was positive that the house belonged to Eugene, the man in Ravine’s chats.
Her tracing ended here.
Ravine stares at the man who was intending to inch closer towards her.
*ring ring*
The man flinches himself when his doorbell was rung. Cassandra waits for Eugene to open the door.
“It’s your friend.” He says against her lips.
“I hope it’s not.” She prays it shouldn’t be Cassandra.
“I don’t have any visitors at this hour, Ravine.” The man says as he sighs.
Ravine breaks free from his grip as she begins to wear her wet clothes back.
“Wait.” Giving her a robe instead, Eugene dresses in a pajama set as quickly as possible to attend the impatient ringing of the friend outside.
All three were clueless at one thing or the other.
Eugene didn’t know what was the beef between the two friends.
Ravine didn’t know why Cassandra was so stressed about meeting up with her, and what made Cassandra call her her best friend out of the blue.
And Cassandra on the other hand didn’t know if she would be able to say her last goodbyes to the people here before going back to her own Era.
“Madam Johnson?” Cassandra hears the man’s voice from the other end, to confirm her presence.
“Y-yes, it’s me.” She says through the shivers that she gets from the cold breeze.
“Hi.” Eugene says, checking her out who was so cold in the winter when Ravine appears from behind her.
Eugene was forced to keep a promise by Ravine.
As he was wearing his clothes, about to attend Cassandra, Ravine holds him back as she looks into his eyes deeply.
“Don’t tell her anything about what happened here. Please promise me, Eugene.” The man stares at her.
“Okay.” And the promise to keep her deeds a secret from the world was made that moment.
Cassandra shyly smiles at the stranger as he steps aside. Behind him was her, Ravine who held a displeased look on her face.
Cassandra so wanted to slap her at that moment.
“You ladies can talk your heart inside. Please.” The man pulls Cassandra inside as Ravine walks away to sit on the couch.
“I will make hot chocolate for you, Madam Johnson-”
“Thank you, and please call me Cassandra.” The two whisper at each other as Eugene walks away to get the freezing woman a cup of hot chocolate.
“Why are you here in the middle of the night? Shouldn’t you be at the hospital, getting treated-”
“Ravine.” Cassandra says with a shaky voice.
“Please don’t speak anything which is going to make me lose my temper and slap you to death. Just… shut up.” Ravine’s eyes were wide in shock as the words flow out of Cassandra’s mouth.
In no way did she hear Cassandra joke around with her words. She was dead serious.
Eugene gazes over the hole in the wall out of the kitchen, staring at Cassandra in immersed thoughts.
“Why did you come visit me?”
“Because…”
Something inside Ravine forces her to tell everything about the scandals and who was making them behind Cassandra’s back.
Cassandra was beyond displeased and petrified to hear the name be declared as the culprit of those acts.
“I can’t believe it was her… and you too. I mean… phew.” Cassandra shakily sighs.
“I wouldn’t even ask for your forgiveness. It was childish of me.”
“Damn right it was. More than my scandals, I was totally upset with the letters. I was going through a lot in that moment. Especially my brothers. To add it on top, you broke up with Alex during that time as well and oh god… our house was a mess.”
“I’m sorry…”
“I think it’s alright,” Ravine whips her head up to see the woman in serious thought, “It wasn’t you who did it. Your parents forced you to act against us Johnsons. I mean… I get it. Louis was right all along.”
Ravine chews on her inner cheeks. She had no face to show to anyone for her actions.
Maybe today, she will ask for a perfect closure.
“Um… Cassandra. I know things haven’t been good for you, but could you please forget everything about me? I don’t want you to have any memories of me. Forget that I was your friend-”
“Shut up!” Ravine was cut off when the woman yells. She strains her muscles again as she hisses with agony.
“Are you-”
“You don’t get to say what I can forget about. How selfish can you become, Ravine? You’re acting like a cunt.”
“Maybe because I am one.”
Cassandra was stopping the incredible urge to smack Ravine’s face at the moment. She was well aware of Ravine’s life.
“I won’t forgive you now.” Cassandra declares out of the blue. She was panting softly. Eugene walks back into their conversation with three cups of hot chocolate. The whole room was warm with it’s flavor.
It was about to get warmer with Cassandra’s words as well.
“I won’t forgive you until you become my friend again and correct your fucking mistakes. I understand that you were under someone else’s control, but I’m surprisingly good at giving people second chances.”
“I already used that offer up.”
“Well then, a third chance.” Eugene was smiling behind his chocolate mug.
Ravine had nothing more to say after Cassandra beat her up in the argument.
“Okay. I will have to plead forgiveness from everyone.”
