They all take out their gun in alert, ready to shoot-Melody’s hand grips Damian’s arms. She felt like she could be traumatized by the gun sounds. It feels like whenever she goes, there will be gunshots.
“W-What was that…” she mumbles.
Riccardo looks at Damian who nods. He takes slow steps toward the window. He takes a peek and is stunned to see a group of men come. His men tried to fight them but they were too many.
“What is it?” Damian asks.
“We are being ambushed,” he said through his gritted teeth.
“Again?” Damian scowls. “How the fuck they know where we are!? It feels like every time we go, they know.”
Riccardo furrows his eyebrows, “I feel like…there’s someone informs them your location.”
“What are you trying to say? Are you trying to say that there’s a traitor among us?” Damian narrows his eyes on him.
He didn’t answer his question knowing it was hard to believe. Damian turns to Matthew and the others who didn’t say anything. They flinch when they meet Damian’s gaze. His eyes show that he is suspicious of them, but tries not to believe it.
“Dam…we…” Celestia tries to speak up.
“No. You guys wouldn’t do it. Ric, there must be a mistake,” he turns to Riccardo.
“I’m not saying it was them. It’s just…it’s weird how the enemy knows your location,” Riccardo frowns.
Melody looks at Celestia, who seems to be tense with all of this. Her grip on her gun tightened as if she were holding herself from something. Melody arches her eyebrows when she notices the others doing the same.
Damian sighs, “The important thing is we have to leave.”
“Yeah, you are right. Let’s escape through the back-”
The loud explosion was heard. Damian hugs his wife to prevent anything from hitting her. The back door was destroyed into pieces. Melody lifted her head, and another group of men came in with their guns.
Riccardo and the others start to shoot while Damian flips the table, pulls her to hide behind it.
“Stay, don’t come out.” Damian firmly speaks.
He gets up and fights along with the others. Riccardo hasn’t prepared anything since all of this is out of the blue.
There are too many. Damian reloads his gun, looks around. Then, his eyes catch on something. Matthew seems to be signalling one of the enemies to Melody’s direction.
Before he could react, someone grabs him from behind. He grunts in pain, struggling to escape as he is being held. They kick the gun out of his hand.
“Dam!!” Riccardo is about to help him, but he is being held as well. He tried to fight back.
Melody takes a look. Something is off here but she couldn’t put a finger on it. A man grabs her, makes her gasp.
Damian elbows them and swings his legs, hitting them. He grabs the gun and shoots the one who held Riccardo on the head. When Riccardo got the chance, he hit the other with his elbow.
“We have to leave now!” He yells.
Damian nods, “Lead the way!”
They catch up after Riccardo while shoots anyone who comes after them. Riccardo kicks the doors and raises his gun, ready to shoot. When he saw no one, he sighed in relief.
“Let’s go,” he ran toward the car. “Get in! Get in!”
All of them get in but Damian halts. He looks around to find Melody, but she is not around. His heart pounding in panic. Riccardo noticed that he didn’t move.
“Dam! What are you waiting for!? Get in!” He yells.
“Melody…Melody is inside!!” Damian is about to go back.
Before he did, Victor held him. “What the fuck do you want!?”
“Don’t! It’s dangerous!” Victor scolds him.
“I don’t care-my wife is in there!!” He snaps.
“We can’t let you save her! There are too many of them and we can’t cover you,” Celestia added.
“We have to leave now,” Matthew firmly speaks.
Damian furrows his eyebrows, noticing their weird behaviour. Before he could speak again, Matthew pushed him in.
“Drive!”
Riccardo didn’t waste his time and drive off.
The ride was silent. Once again, they are running. The tension in the car was thick. Riccardo, who is driving, keeps shifting in his seat, not knowing what to do. He keeps glancing at the mirror.
Whenever this happened, the tensions always arose because of him, but this time, it’s not.
“Is there anything you guys want to tell me?” Damian finally speaks up. His voice was filled with anger, they could feel it.
Celestia, Victor, and Matthew didn’t answer. They didn’t know how to tell their leader about this.
“I need…one of you to speak…now,” he starts to lose his patient.
Still, they didn’t speak. Damian starts to lose it. He taps Riccardo to stop the car, and his friend didn’t question him but stopped the car on the side of the road. The car door opens with Damian gripping Matthew’s collar.
He dragged him out and threw him on the ground. Damian gets on top of him and punches him on the face. All of them rush out to stops him from beating the crap out of Matthew.
“Dam! Stop it!!” Riccardo pulled him back.
“HOW DARE YOU FUCKING BETRAYED ME!!!” Damian yells in fury.
Celestia helps Matthew get up. He grunts in pain, holding his jaw. Damian clenched his fist.
“I saw the look you gave to the enemy! What did I do to make you betray me, Mat!?” Damian yells.
“Dam-”
“My wife did nothing to you! If Riccardo didn’t hold me right now, I would have shot you by now!” He pulls out his gun.
“STOP!” Celestia stands in front of Matthew. “No…Dam…please…”
He breathes heavily, “What’s the meaning of all of this, Cel? You are one of my trusted and loyal ones.”
“This is what you pay after everything I did for you?”
Celestia looks down, the guilty stick on her face. She didn’t want to do this but she had no choice. Her hands trembling, tears brimming her eyes. Words stuck in her throat not knowing how to explain.
“If I have no appreciation in three of you, I would have shot all of you in the head by now,” Damian scowls.
“We…We can explain,” Celestia tries to confront him. She turns to Victor who has been quiet since earlier. “Vic, tell him…”
Damian furrows his eyebrows as he turns to Victor. Victor let out a heavy sigh, lifted his head.
“Actually…yes, we are the ones who inform them of our location,” Victor spilt it out. “It’s supposed to be the time when we are at Uncle Woo’s shop.”
“But…the thought of Melody’s relationship with that old man, we decided not to.” He explains.
“Why are you guys doing this?” Riccardo inquired in curiosity.
“We didn’t mean to betray you, Dam. All of this is planned. Remember the plan Melody’s suggested to you? About letting her become the bait?” He asks.
Damian’s jaw clenched, “And you used this stupid plan?”
“Melody did confront me about it-but we do think of it many times before we agreed. Matthias wouldn’t stop, not until he got her.”
“So, we planned that, if Matthias got Melody, maybe we can track him down. Celestia has put the tracking location on Melody,” Matthew added. He was rubbing his jaw, who had just got punched by Damian.
Damian stomps towards Victor and holds his collar, “Did you guys know the women you send away are my wife?”
“We know-”
“Have you guys discussed it with me!?” Damian yells.
“Because we know you wouldn’t agree to it!!” Victor snaps. “We do this for you! We want you to live in peace with your wife!”
“By risking my wife’s life!? Of course I wouldn’t agree to it! Because Melody is my fucking wife, you piece of shit!!!” Damian pushed him off.
He breathes heavily, pushes his hair back. Damian ran his hands over his face, trying to calm himself down. He understands what they are trying to say and do. But the thought of they are doing this without telling him makes him crazy.
“I know…what are you guys trying to do and…I appreciate it. But…this is too much,” he sighs.
“We are sorry. We…shouldn’t do this.” Celestia apologized. “We just…we believe in Melody. She is not a weak one.”
“It’s true though,” Riccardo mumbles to himself.
“It doesn’t change the fact that she is my wife,” Damian glares at her.
Riccardo remembers something. “Wait. You guys said you put tracking devices on Melody, right?”
“Yes. We did.” Celestia nods.
“Where can we watch it?” He asks.
Celestia pulls out a tab. She typed something, then a small red dot showing Melody’s location. Riccardo furrows his eyebrows, not familiar with the location.
“You didn’t know where this is?” Damian asks.
“I’m not sure. What I can say is, this is not his base,” he answers.
“It must be somewhere-maybe his secret base,” Victor agreed.
Damian crossed his arms over his chest, “If that’s so, we have to get ready. We will do the same thing he did to us, which is…ambushed.”
He was about to get inside the car but halted when Riccardo stopped him, “Wait. Where are we going now? We can’t go back to my place.”
“Only one place that is safe now,” he smirks.
Uncle Woo sweeping outside his store. He hummed to the random Chinese song. Suddenly, a black car stops in front of his store. He furrows his eyebrows in confusion.
His confusion faded when he saw Damian come out of the car. One by one, getting out of the car, and there’s no sight of Melody.
“We meet again, uncle,” Matthew grins, scratching his head.
