Our departure was delayed, and I had no idea how much longer it would take. Castor, Pollux, Declan, and I sat on the sofa, staring at each other in silence. With all his dominance, Castor made sure my body was positioned right next to him, sandwiched between Pollux.
The tension was still thick. For once, Pollux initiated a conversation by asking about Declan’s property business. He asked, but also ended it with sarcasm. His childish nature might never go away.
I exhaled harshly, unsure of how to behave. Staying neutral and silent wasn’t an option because Pollux kept provoking me to agree with his statements about human life.
“Can’t you three just get along and stop throwing jabs at each other? This room is suffocating with testosterone. Care and Mia are up there, grumbling because of your antics. They’ve been looking forward to this vacation.” I couldn’t take it anymore.
Castor cleared his throat briefly and then spoke, “The final decision is that this human can join us, traveling in the same car as the kids. Godiva will be with us. Cotteges will be arranged by Alvise.” I saw Declan opening his mouth, but his words were cut off by Pollux, who spoke first. “Just follow along if you don’t want to die. The only reason you’re still breathing right now is because my brother has mercy on you and understands Godiva’s wishes.”
Declan frowned. I knew he was probably annoyed and muttering to himself. He wasn’t an impulsive man who would overreact if he didn’t get his way. At least I had heard him talk about the struggles I went through giving birth to the twins and how he was by my side at that time.
“Thank you, Alpha Castor,” I said softly.
“Oh, right… from now on, if you still want to be around Apollo and Artemis, call us ‘Alpha’.” Pollux added as Declan stood up from the sofa.
“Because we are…”
“Stop it! I just want this vacation to be enjoyable for all of us, especially for the kids.” I turned my gaze from Pollux to Declan. “Since they were little, both of them have always been called Alpha by their parents.”
Lying was the only thing I could do right now. I didn’t want Declan to be scared of us. At least I could buy some time before telling him the truth. Sooner or later, he would have to find out.
“Dangerous mafia? I’m not afraid, even if you point a gun at my head. But for the kids, I’ll go along with it, so don’t get the wrong idea,” Declan turned and walked away from us.
Finally, one of them backed down. The debate, the jabs, and the sarcasm I’d heard for the past hour had left me cold with sweat. I didn’t want a single drop of blood spilled in this house, not in front of the children.
With heavy steps, I entered the black sedan. My face showed no expression, silent and occasionally gazing out the window. My mind was full of images that ended in a duel between wolves and… humans.
“Are you going to hurt Declan?” I couldn’t take all the dark thoughts swirling in my head anymore.
“We’ll see.” Castor stared directly at me, but I couldn’t read his expression. “If he’s smart, he won’t provoke us.”
I understood. Once I found the right time to speak with Declan, I would explain everything, including our identities. I couldn’t expect anything from my confession, as long as he stayed alive.
“Declan deserves to live. I’m saying this not because I have feelings for him, not at all. I value human life, especially since he’s done something for me and the twins. He doesn’t know our identities, or yours.”
“As for that one, I have my own way of handling it. Let’s focus on the bond between us. Pollux was once shaken, and so were you, Luna. Pollux has already been punished, and I must be fair as well. So get ready.”
After listening to Castor’s words, I lowered my head. I couldn’t fight Castor’s rules. The punishment I was about to receive was deserved. Rather than keep thinking about it until my head hurt, it was better to focus on enjoying this vacation.
This was our first vacation together, and it would be an unforgettable experience for the twins. The trip to the airport felt longer than it should have. In the silence surrounding us, I felt my phone vibrate in my handbag.
I checked the caller ID and answered, “Yes, this is Godiva Anderson.”
I listened to the travel agent explain they would rebook our tickets. After explaining the reason for our delay, they agreed to everything, but there was an additional cost due to the higher ticket prices. Reluctantly, I agreed for the sake of the kids.
But before I ended the call, Castor signaled for my phone. I raised my eyebrows but handed it to him.
“My wife won’t be buying tickets. We’ll be using a private plane. My assistant will take care of the cancellation fees.” Castor’s voice was firm, making it clear he didn’t want to be argued with.
I gasped at Castor’s decision. My hand reflexively reached up as he handed the phone back to me, still feeling light as though I was touching empty air. I couldn’t believe it. Was it really that easy for him to handle things in the human world?
“I don’t want to mingle with humans, even in a VVIP class. We need comfort. You need comfort.” His gaze shifted to me after ending the call.
“You need it, sweet pea. Castor’s been working himself to the bone to distract himself from you. Now he surely needs it. Good luck!”
From what I gathered, they were planning something for me. Pollux smirked slightly, his eyes on my chest, which was partly exposed due to my low-cut dress. I hadn’t meant to wear it; I just couldn’t find another dress that was more covered. Everything seemed to disappear on its own.
“You look beautiful in that dress. That omega is truly obedient.” This time, Castor spoke, his gaze following the same path.
“Trisha?”
“Yep. Castor told her to leave one sexy dress for you to wear on the trip.”
I swallowed hard. For some reason, my body felt exposed, even though the fabric still clung tightly to me. The sensation didn’t go away, even after I turned my gaze elsewhere.
Unlike me, still tense with my own feelings, Care and Mia skipped ahead cheerfully before climbing the stairs to the plane. With one hand, I held my silver hair that the wind had blown into my face, preventing it from blocking my view as I walked up the steps. The hand now resting around my waist added to the strange sensation spreading through my stomach.
Castor guided me toward the cabin reserved for the three of us. After ensuring the twins were in the same cabin as Declan and Lizzie, I walked to the seat next to Castor.
The flight attendant closed the cabin door, leaving only the three of us. My thoughts remained on the twins, though I knew Trisha was doing her job to look after them. Still, I felt uneasy being away from them.
“Has anyone figured out their real identity yet, Luna Godiva?”
I jolted out of my reverie. Hearing Castor ask that, I began to explain the existence of other creatures besides humans. I intended to let them absorb it slowly as they grew older.
“Pollux said Apollo already knows how to use mind link with him. Why hasn’t he done that with me?”
“Maybe he needs to adjust to new people. Alpha Pollux was more attractive when he visited the cafe yesterday.”
“Should I be as attractive as Pollux to bond with my kids?” Castor’s rhetorical question made me smile.
I added, “I just told them their father works abroad. They just need to be good and smart if they want to meet their father.”
“Are they smart? Are they strong? Have they ever been afraid?” Castor sat up straighter, his eyes sharp as they fixed on me. “Should I tell them now?”
“I’m still figuring out how to tell them, Alpha.” I held my breath and exhaled slowly. “Having two fathers-something uncommon in the human world…”
“I know how to do it. Just leave it to me.”
Pollux cut in. I quickly turned to look at him, seeing the usual confidence and certainty he exuded. This had all been planned by him, but each of them had their part. I couldn’t imagine how the twins would react once they learned about their father and their true identities. Should I be worried?
