Their Mother

Godiva PoV.
“I don’t like being ignored.”
I was confused. Should I separate them? I saw Pollux was barely breathing, and all I could do was stare at both of them in confusion.
The twins’ mother smirked as she lowered her hand from Pollux’s neck. I let out a sigh of relief that the family drama was finally over. I helped Pollux seat himself in one chair.
“I’ll get you some water; wait here!”
I walked over to one of the female employees’ desks, where they were watching the mother-son scene. I asked for directions to the pantry to get some water. She offered to get us some water.
I agreed and went straight back to Pollux. I saw the fingernail wound on Pollux’s neck was gradually closing. It was the first time I’d seen a wound close miraculously that fast.
It wasn’t long before the employee provided us with three bottles of mineral water. My gaze shifted to the twins’ mother. She was standing in front of Pollux with her arms folded across her chest. Her brow was furrowed, as if she were deep in thought as she looked at her son.
In addition, the woman’s visual appearance, including a light blue blazer and a matching span skirt, gave off the impression of a career woman. Her long black hair flowing straight down to her waist added a graceful impression. I noticed the twins had their mother’s eyes but much different faces.
“Don’t drink alcohol!”
“I beg your pardon.” I spontaneously reacted as her eyes suddenly fell on me.
I raised my head to look at her. I tried to understand what she meant by analyzing her words. Not consuming alcohol in reality, I didn’t feel intimidated.
“I don’t drink alcohol, ma’am.”
“You can call me mom. Have any of my children ever told you about me?”
“No, mom.” I shook my head vigorously.
Faith hissed and immediately dropped her piercing gaze on Pollux. She was about to raise her hand to grab Pollux, but Pollux dodged first. Pollux moved quickly from the chair and took cover behind me.
“Mom, I’m sorry. We’ve been very busy with humans and vampires alike.”
“By not asking your father and I for our blessing to get married? You should be grateful that I am still your mother. Godiva, dear, sorry for my rage earlier. Of course I bless you. I’m just annoyed at them both.” Faith pointed at her bag, which I was holding.
I returned the bag to her hand and smiled to show my understanding. Her nail polish is black, which I think still shows her as a witch. I felt her aura of power that was so strong and emitted a blue color.
“Let’s go to your office, Pollux,” said Faith, who immediately walked ahead.
Pollux and I followed behind her. Her elegant gait made my gut shrink. I couldn’t imagine that I would have a visual like hers.
“Why isn’t dad coming with you, mom?” Pollux asked after closing the door to the office.
“He’s busy with his new girlfriend.” I heard Faith snort softly.
“Try to lighten up, mom. Dad will definitely come back to you.”
“Are you suggesting or teasing me?” snapped Faith.
I see Pollux swallow his saliva and shrink in his chair. From my position on the sofa, Faith sits across from me as she twists the cap of a water bottle. She sat with her legs crossed and took out a small bottle shaped like perfume.
“I had a feeling that you guys would need me. Am I right?” Faith’s tone sounds confident to me.
“You know everything, mom. I think you should talk to each other.”
“I’ll be at your mansion tonight. I’m here to say hello and meet one of my friends. Remember, when I call, you must pick up.'”
I heard Pollux respond to his mother’s words. When I saw Faith stretch out her hand to give me the little bottle, I looked at the bottle at first. I accepted it with open hands and noticed the clear pink-colored liquid inside the bottle.
That’s a potion to disguise your scent. Use it wisely, because my kids will only think it’s perfume.” Faith said in my mind.
Gosh, she can enter my mind too. My eyes widened, as I didn’t expect her to be able to talk to me like that. I nodded late because I was too surprised.
Faith waltzes gracefully to the door. After a few minutes of observing her, I can deduce that the twins’ mother passed on her nature to Castor; rigid and intimidating means that Pollux’s goofy nature was passed on from his father.
I noticed the liquid in the bottle in my hand. Given Faith’s quiet message of this potion, I wasn’t completely familiar with its uses. Who should I disguise the scent from?
Instead of me having to think hard about the potion, I put it straight into my bag. Behind the desk, Pollux is focused on the computer in front of him. His lips move as he reads in a low murmur, and I suddenly imagine how his lips traced every inch of my skin this morning.
“I’ll reply to the emails that came in, and then we’ll go around.”
“Yeah, just do your job. I’ll be waiting.”
We struggled in silence for half an hour. I was busy scrolling through news about natural disasters on the other side of the world while Pollux typed away at his computer keyboard. I smiled as I saw that werewolves also had to blend in like humans and use their technology.
Wait! I’m a werewolf just like them, but why am I only now learning my identity?
I scratched my own head from thinking too hard. Am I a weird werewolf? Is it because I’m an orphan?
I banged my back against the back of the sofa. After 25 years of breathing human air, I had to face the fact that I was a mythical creature. I had some broken bones. My five senses have become more sensitive lately, and above all, I’ve been overheating more often.
“Alpha Pollux, do you mind if I ask you about how you turned into a wolf in the first place?”
Pollux raised his head to look at me from behind the computer screen. He rubbed his chin and cleared his throat softly. I leaned in to hear more clearly what he had to say.
“I found out when I was ten years old. I locked myself in my room for a few days out of fear. My father had to break down my bedroom door because I was dehydrated. The symptoms started then. Your five senses became more sensitive; you could move faster than usual, and it culminated when I was 17. I broke all my bones to shift into a wolf. I remember it was a full moon night.”
I bit my finger. The symptoms were the same as what I felt, but the difference was that it all happened in one night for me. One wonders why I didn’t turn into a wolf.
“Is there a werewolf that can’t shift into a wolf?”
