Kayleigh PoV.
Who exactly were they? I was really scared when the man scratched my cheek with his large claws. Was I hallucinating? Everything felt real to me because I felt a sting on my face.
The man had hands like a monster. I didn’t understand how Godiva could recognise them. What surprised me more was that Godiva looked fine.
Despite the man’s dazzling visuals, I cringed even more at the look on his face when he looked at me yesterday. Especially now, I was in an expensive apartment with one man who didn’t say a word to me.
My hands and feet were firmly bound with rope. My mouth was sealed with duct tape. I also couldn’t move my body because of my bound and bent position on the bed.
I gasped when a voice spoke from behind the door of the room I was in. I recognised that voice-heavy and deep. When the door opened, I saw the same man who had scarred my face.
“You’re lucky Godiva has forgiveness for you. If it were me, you’d already be the meal of a wild beast in the forest. Dealing with Godiva, you’re digging your own grave, filthy human.”
I muttered forcefully. If she was intimidating me, then it was working. I shook my head vigorously and kept muttering for the ties wrapped around my hands and feet to be removed.
He walked over to the bed. His eyes were fixed straight on me, and I couldn’t move. The man’s face was expressionless, further discouraging me.
I felt a strong tug on my lips. I could breathe more freely now that my lips were free from the duct tape. I wanted to get out of this place immediately, and I had to ask him for that.
“I’m sorry. Release me, please!”
“We’ll see if Godiva will agree to it.”
“Who are you, and what is Godiva’s relationship with you?”
“I, Pollux Melucci, am the Alpha of the Moonstone Pack, and Godiva is my Luna. You only need to know that because if you ever bother Godiva again, that will be the last name you hear.”
I didn’t understand what she was saying. I only guessed that Godiva was prostituting herself with one of the rich men because the restaurant Martin and I went to yesterday was one of the luxury restaurants for the upper class. I just wanted to ask Godiva for money, but I didn’t expect it to turn out like this.
I swallowed my saliva with difficulty. I didn’t want to die yet. I still wanted to be the rich mistress of the billionaire man in Burze.
An idea suddenly occurred to me. I could seduce Pollux Melucci so that I could use the opportunity to escape when he was off guard. Judging from his visuals, I could guess he was the type of man who liked to charm women and take advantage of his charms.
“I’ll do anything to repay your kindness, sir. I can satisfy you.”
I saw her tug at the corners of her lips. He looked me up and down. A second later, I could feel the ropes on my arms and legs loosening.
“Thank you, sir.”
I breathed a sigh of relief after massaging both my wrists and feet. Now I had to catch him off guard with every service I offered him. I waited for him to speak to start.
“I won’t do it now because Godiva is coming soon. You’d better behave yourself. My mercy depends on your attitude.”
I nodded. After seeing Pollux Melucci exit the room, I walked to the window. I had been in this room all night, and I was starting to feel hungry. The man who took care of me all night had put food on the nightstand an hour ago.
Considering Pollux’s words, I took a bunch of bread and an apple. I had to be nice by eating the food given to me by them. As I looked out the window, I munched on the bread and apple to fill my stomach.
As I waited for half an hour, I finally heard Godiva’s voice on the other side of the room. I saw her figure after the door opened and was surprised by Godiva’s other-than-usual appearance. Behind her is Pollux Melucci, but in a different outfit.
“Hello, Kayleigh,” Godiva greeted me as she approached me.
“Godiva, get me out of here. I promise I’ll return all the money I took from you. Do you see my face? I won’t bother you anymore,” I said with a pitiable look on my face.
“You told me that once, but you broke it because I got more attention from Rex. You’re acting up again and hiding behind your mom. I’m tired of your games, Kayleigh.”
“I promise, for the sake of our sisterly bond,” I urged as I touched Godiva’s hand.
“Hypocrite!” snapped Godiva with already reddened eyes.
“Don’t touch Godiva!”
I was startled by Pollux’s voice booming in the room. I took a step back because I had to show Godiva good manners. I honestly hated having to beg Godiva, but it would do.
“I beg you, Godiva.”
“I know how you act when you’re lying, Kayleigh. I’ve been silent all this time, but I’m not your relative; you can’t bully me anymore. I’m letting you go so that you can deliver my message to your mother that I’ll be marrying Pollux soon.”
I dropped my jaw. How could she know that I was lying? That was not what I was thinking about right now. I need to focus on Godiva.
It has only been a few days since Godiva left home, but I am already shocked by the news of her wedding plans. This cannot be happening. I must not be defeated by her.
“Don’t lie to me, Godiva! You can’t win over me.”
“Whatever. Go ahead if you want to hold me down again, because until you do, your bare cheeks will be just like the other side.”
Damn cousin! I don’t even want to call her a cousin. She was always at the mercy of the people around her.
I was about to grab Godiva’s arm again, but Pollux’s hand blocked me first. His grip on me was so tight that I groaned in pain. My tears just spilled out as I endured the pain.
I knelt on the floor with my hand still in Pollux’s grip. I begged Pollux to let go of my hand. He only let go when Godiva shook her head at him.
How could Pollux comply with Godiva’s request? Everything was getting weird. I knew Godiva, who would rather give in to me, but now her attitude was completely different.
“Alpha Castor, you can do anything to her. I’ve seen her attitude that never changes, even in a tight spot.”
I saw Godiva walk out of the room, leaving Pollux in the room with me. I did not understand Godiva’s meaning. I could only look at Pollux with his sharp eyes, as if he wanted to do something to me.
“I beg you. Listen to me first, sir. I let loose earlier because Godiva baited me first. I can satisfy you.”
“You’ve got the wrong person, filthy human!”
I shook my head vigorously. As Pollux’s hand pulled hard on my hair, I felt something sharp pierce the skin of my neck. I cringed for a moment.
Afterwards, Pollux walked away from me, and I was relieved that things weren’t as I had feared. I thought that he was going to hurt me again. I tried to stand up on my two feet and reached for the door to get out of the room.
I didn’t see anyone except the man guarding me. He approached me and immediately caught my body. The longer I walked, the more numb my feet became on the floor. I couldn’t feel my feet until my body wavered in the man’s arms.
I felt a burning sensation inside me. It was so intense that I could only move my eyes. My whole body was immobilised, and I was unable to scream.
