Karen sat across from Jasper, listening to stories of his childhood and all she could think about was Kai dragging her to the private room, about to ravage her in a way only he could.
For goodness sake, it had to be even the same restaurant! It seemed like fate was playing games with her.
Karen remembered he was talking so she smiled and drank some of her white wine. “You were a crazy kid growing up huh?” She said with a forced smile.
Jasper laughed. “That and more. I was the terror of the house. How about you? Were you a good child?”
Karen shook her head. “I don’t remember most of my childhood. ” Lies. Her childhood was too painful to recount. And she didn’t ever want to tell anyone that story.
“How about your parents?” Jasper asked softly. He looked down at her plate. “You haven’t eaten anything. Is the food not to your liking?”
Karen shook her head. she squeezed her thighs together, her head filled with images of Kai. Kai and his stupidly long hair. Kai and his stupidly beautiful eyes. Kai and the way his voice made her feel. Kai and the stupid mating bond that kept them together
She found herself desperately wishing that she was with him instead.
It made her annoyed, she was on this date for the very same reason of avoiding him. And here she was, thinking about him and wondering what would have happened if she had let him take her in that private room.
She wouldn’t probably be here, that was for sure. She would need some days off to recover.
She blinked and faced Jasper. “You said?”
Jaspers brows were furrowed. He just have noticed her being absent. “How about your parents?”
“My mom died giving birth to me and my dad died four years ago.”
He gasped. “I’m so sorry, I had no idea.”
Karen waved dismissively. “It’s nothing. I barely even remember them now. It’s all in the past now.”
Jasper raised his wine glass. “To you, Karen. The strongest woman I know.”
Karen laughed softly and clinked her glass with his. “Cheers” she said and drank some of her wine.
“Do you have any fond memories of your childhood?” Karen asked jasper. She felt a bit bad that she was not paying attention and thinking of Kai when she should have been getting to know the man in front of her better. But she needed him to get talking so she could daydream more about Kai.
She felt conflicted. Just earlier that day she as convinced she hated Kai and wanted nothing to do with him. And now, now she wanted him.
She wished this date would come to a damned end already.
“Would you like some desert?” Jasper asked, going through the menu.
“The orange chocolate cake sounds nice.” Karen said.
“I’ll go with that too.” He replied and smiled kindly at her. “I’m so glad right now.”
Karen wished she could share in his sentiment. But she didn’t. She instead drank more wine.

Jasper walked her to her car, Karen was relieved it was finally over. She just couldn’t feel anything for Jasper.
“I really had fun.” Jasper said and turned to her. “I hope I can take you out again.”
No.
Karen smiled. “Keys see how it goes? No?”
Jasper nodded. He held her car door open for her to get in. “Have a safe drive home.” He said and waved as he shut the door.
“Good night Jasper” Karen said as she started the engine. “See you tomorrow?”
Jasper waved till her car vanished from sight. Then his smile died and he lowered his hand. His expression became one of stone and hatred. She turned and took out his phone, dialed a number and waited.
“Yes?” The voice on the other end said.
“Alpha Asher” Jasper said. “I have confirmed her identity ”
“Yes? And ? Is she the one we’re looking for?”
Jasper nodded. “I’m positive she is. And also, Kai seems charmed by her. She has to be the one”
“Excellent work Jasper. Stand by for more orders.”
“Yes, alpha Asher.” Jasper said as the call ended. He out the phone back inside his pocket.
Soon. Very soon and it would all unravel. He couldn’t wait to see how it all went down.

Karen realized she had forgotten her phone and wallet at her desk. She drove back to work even though it was nearly nine.
The building was mostly empty, with a few workers doing overtime. Karen went to her office, searching around her desk area but unable to find it. She looked around, wondering where it could have been.
She remembered going to deliver a work to Kai and going with her small purse that had her phone and wallet. She sighed heavily realizing that she had to go up and get it.
“He’s probably gone home by now.”
She walked out of the office and to the elevator. At night the offices had a ghostly feel to it. Karen got to Kai’s office and to her dismay, he was still there. The light of his computer illuminating his face in a pale blue light. He noticed her and raised his head up
Karen wanted to bolt. But it was too late now.
“Back already?” He asked with a bitter note in his voice.
“Yes.” Karen replied and walked up to his desk. “I left my purse here, have you seen it?”
“So What? It was over in that amount of time?” Kai said with a laugh. “I had expected more form your boytoy.”
“He’s not my boytoy.” Karen snapped. “Have you seen my purse?”
“I had Anna take care of it. Since you weren’t coming back, probably going to spend the night at his place”
Karen rolled her eyes at his passive aggressiveness. “Where is Anna now?”
He shrugged. “Where ever she goes after work.”
The half moon behind him made him look like a silhouette of power. Karen felt all the pent up emotion she had built up from the date reappear, especially when the object of her desire was right in front of her. She shook her head to clear her thoughts.
Karen sighed heavily. “It was a waste of time coming here.”
She didn’t want to leave. She didn’t want him to let her leave. It was just the two of them on the entire floor. She was becoming painfully aware of that.
“You’re flushed,” He commented, amusement in his tone. “Reflecting on how well he fucked you?”
“He didn’t– ” Karen sighed and paused . “What is it you want? Why do you–”
He appeared in front of her, grabbing her chin and tilting her head up to look at him. “What did you just say?”
“He didn’t touch me.” She spat. “We had dinner and talked and that was all.”
Kai tilted his head to the side, his eyes shining. “You want me to believe that?”
Karen scoffed. “Jealous?”
He smirked. “Not even close. You want to know why? It’s because I know that no one can fuck you like I do.”
“You son of a—”
Her word died in her throat, his mouth covering hers in a heated kiss. It took less than a second for her body to react, her arms looping around his neck and deepening the kiss.
Her first kiss ever. And it was everything she had imagined it would be. His lips were soft and molded perfectly into hers. Hai hand grabbed her chin and tilted her head, his teeth softly nibbling her lower lip.
Karen moaned, pressing her body against his.
“Kai …” She whispered,
“Yes?” He smirked against her lips, pecking her
“Don’t stop.”
He pulled back and looked into her eyes. “I don’t plan to.”
Karen stared into his eyes, and she knew in that moment that there was no way she could ever be rid of this man.
His hand trailed down her body, undoing the zipper of her gown. She helped him get it off, unhooking her bra and dropping it to the floor. His breath hitched as she stood before him in her lacy white panties.
He took her breasts into his hands, kneading and mashing them together. Her eyes fluttered shut, soft sighs leaving her lips. He bent down and took a nipple into his mouth. She moaned, her hand fisting in his hair.
He grabbed her and laid her against his desk, papers flying in all directions. He gazed on her, his eyes kind and gentle. Bathed in the moonlight, she was a vision of perfection. Kai leaned down and kissed her again, a deep groan leaving his lips which she swallowed.
Kissing her was even better than he had imagined. He wondered why he didn’t do it any sooner. H
He lifted her leg up, his hand creeping under her underwear till he touched her where she ached for him the most. She was soaking wet for him, her walls fluttering around his fingers.
“Oh my gosh…” She gasped,
“I missed you.” Kai said, his fingers picking up the pace inside her.
She groaned, her back arching. She gripped the edges of the desk tightlyz her eyes squeezed shut as she approached her climax.
“Karen, look at me.”
She turned and met his eyes. He twisted her nipple with his free hand, his thumb rubbing her clit and pushing her over the edge.
A blissful expression came over her face as her body trembled. Kai wanted nothing more than to bury himself inside her and feel her pulsating around him.
“Oh my gosh Kai…”
“I’m right here,”
She reached out to grab his face. He let her. She pulled him closer to her, her lips meeting his halfway. They shared a slow and sweet kiss that made Kai’s head spin.
Damnit, he thought. It’s worse than I thought
She pulled away and gazed into his eyes, a smile on her red lips. “I missed you too.”
